Mar 5, 2012I am working on my first VB application and have run into a problem. I am trying to loop through some data and displaying them in labels. I am using a for-each loop but end up with different row with the same labelname. What I would like to do, is to assign a number to the labelname (mylabel1, mylabel2,...), but I canīt figure out how, and I cant find anything online that will work. I have edited the column headers and set the column names to the same values as my table names yet the data is not showing in form load I have set datagridview.AutoGenerateColumns = False I know the data is there if I delete datagridview.AutoGenerateColumns = False then the data is shown with the default headings?

LINQ To XML To Query Attributes Values
Oct 25, 2011I am trying to use Linq to Xml to query attribute values that will be used to populate a combo box. My xml looks like this:

My issue is with getting the attribute values. I tried this:

However, I keep getting the following error:

I'm new to using Linq so this error isn't making a whole lot of sense to me.
Retain Row Attributes In A DataGridView When User Sorts By A Column?
Oct 20, 2010I have a DataGridView, bound to a dataset. All the columns are sortable (.ColumnSortMode.Automatic). The user may change data in certain columns, although not the first ("key") column. When data gets changed on a row, I change the backcolor for that row (to show it as dirty). At some point, the user will do something with all of these changes.
My problem is that I still want the user to be able to resort the data by any of those columns. When it's sorted, though, I lose the backcolors that I changed. I do know which rows are dirty, this is just a cosmetic issue. Isn't there a way to retain those backcolors, or any other such row attribute?

Jul 26, 2010I'm trying to create a web site that users can log into and self serve their user information ie name, address etc. I've set up a SQL server DB with a couple of table holding the data and accessing those using Linq. I'm selecting specific data from my datacontext then trying to assign it to a label, ideally I want to assign the value to a class attribute so I can use the users details on multiple pages.
I've simplified the code (removing WHERE statement etc for the purposes of this question):

Database Table Attributes - Query A List Of Table Names In The Database Ordered By Date Created
Jan 22, 2011[Code] my issue is that now i need two cases, first i need a query that will return the date created and modified of the table and i also need to know if its possible to query a list of table names in the database ordered by date created but that have a certain thing in their names. for example the database contains the following tables: [Code] and what i need the query to return is the tables that contain "Data", settings and employees are for the other functions of the program. so the query should return the 4 data tables in order of date created. but i have no idea how to go about doing that in the query, does anyone know how this is done?

The problem is that the Gridview doesn't seem to like repetitive column names and is renaming the second set of Question #s to something else.

Jun 16, 2011I have a table in a Access Database that I'm loading into a VB.NET program and I want a way to get the name of each of the columns into a list of Strings. Googling has shown that this is much easier with a SQL database, but that doing so in Access is much more difficult. I came across this question Is there a query that will return all of the column names in a Microsoft Access table? Which gives a way to do it, but when I try the code it just populates my list with a bunch of "System.Collections.Generic.List'1[System.String]"

Jun 8, 2012My question is how best to avoid SQL Injection with the method I am currently using.EDIT (Reasoning): There are many of columns in a number of tables (a number which grows (only) and is maintained elsewhere). I need a method of allowing the user to decide which (predefined) column they want to query (and if necessary apply string functions to). The query itself is far too complex for the user to write themselves, nor do they have access to the db. There are 1000's of users with varying requirements and I need to remain as flexible as possible - I shouldn't have to revisit the code unless the main query needs to change - Also, there is no way of knowing what conditions the user will need to use

Apr 22, 2010It is not so hard to get the field names from a database via GetOleDbSchemaTable and OleDbSchemaGuid.Columns. It works fine. The field names come i alphabetical order though. I really need them in the correct field no order.
