Refresh Combobox Values After Updating Its Datatable And Adapter
Jul 8, 2008on a windows form i have a combobox called currency, it is populated by a table-adapter called exchan-gerate which is turn populated by a dataset called mydataset. on form load, i issue update commands to the back-end database that holds the table which populates the dataset - they work. if i look at the update to the combobox, they are not reflected until i exit and restart the app - then they're fine. further down the form load i've tried:
Me.exchangerate.Update(Me.DataSet.Currency)
Me.CurrencyComboBox.Refresh()
am i missing something silly to have the values in the combobox change and refresh at the time of the update to the database? as i said, an exit and restart of the app displays the accurate data.
C# - Adding Picture Description On A Separate Form?
May 27, 2012I have picture boxes added to a FlowLayout panel and a ContextMenu strip (associated with picture boxes) with 'Add description' item.
When I right click on a PictureBox and select 'Add description', a new form pops with large preview of the picture and a text box to write the description.
How can I preserve the text written by the user on the new form, after it's closed, so if user wants to edit the description, he doesn't have to type it from scratch again?
I figured I'd have to store the description somewhere and load it into the form when user clicks on the same picture again, but how can I know what picture he clicked on?

Sep 17, 2010I have a form with several tabpages. on each tabpage a datagridview and some textboxes or comboboxes. i add, delete and update truough this. i magaed to refresh the datagridview after adding something or deleteing or updating but i haven't managed to refresh the comboboxes and the other datagridviews.

Whn the form loads I get the data from the db and bind to the combobox. that works fine and here is the code I use in form load to cause this to happen: [code] Now if there is not an Account Type, I have a button that will pull up a small form to allow the addition of an account type. The popup form adds the data back to the database just fine, but I am now trying to get the combobox to refresh its data. So I call a public Sub that is located in the parent form to from the popup form to accomplish this task and I have walked the code and the sub is called and appears to work correctly, but the new data never appears in the combobox. Here is my public sub that i call to try and refresh the combobox on the parent form. [code] But when I go back to the parent form, the combobox is not updated with the new account. How can i get the combobox to refresh from the database with the new data?

Form Don't Auto Refresh When Change Certain Values
Dec 23, 2010i am currently making a project which is to make a cinema screen booking system. My main problem is that although i have most of what is working i need to find a formula to give the full result (overall price) in a label. My other problem is the fact that when i interact with my form certain things dont auto refresh when i change certain values e.g i change number of seats but it doesn't auto refresh the price or anything OR i click one discount then another but nothing changes and it keeps the old value.
Okay in my menu i have a CombBox (ComboBoxScreen) for choosing the film and there are 3 films to choose from in the drop menu each with their own price. I also have a Textbox (NumberSeats) for inputting a number of seats you want to book for chosen film. And lastly there are 3 radio buttons each with different discounts. e.g No discount, 10% off and 25% off. A formula to work out the overall price uses all three functions/tools above. [Code]

Possible To Have Separate Combo Boxes That Will Give Separate ID Values But Using Same Table?
Apr 30, 2010I'll get straight to my problem - I'm currently coding in Visual Studio.I have a table (countries) with the columns ID | Name. The table is filled with around 28 records.I also have a form with 4 combo boxes (set up as 1,2,3 & 4) that I want the user to select. These combo boxes will display the names from the table countries. I then want to use the selected names in the combo boxes to Insert into their corresponding ID into another table. For example England would have the ID 1, USA the ID 2 etc.So, is it possible to have separate combo boxes that will give separate ID values but using the same table? At the moment I can't seem to find a solution.Eventually the form will have more than 4 combo boxes so I don't want to use separate bindingsources for each combo box.

Jun 9, 2008I have a databound combobox that displays a list of items, and I have a windows form that opens after clicking a button that allows me to make changes to the table that the combobox gets it's values from. When I make the changes and save them (successfully) and return to the parent window, the changes aren't reflected in the combobox. If I exit the app and launch it again the changes are reflected perfectly. I've tried me.combobox.refresh() on the forms GotFocus event, but no luck.

To add a new row, I'm adding a row to the dataset. This adds to the database fine, but on the screen, it adds the new entry to my form, but it also overwrites the textboxes of what ever item was currently selected with the values of the new row I just added. Jan 26, 2010For some reason, the following code is causing me some issues. This code pulls lockout status data from AD and contains the data within a datatable. An event is raised from the threaded procedure to add the data to a listview control. For some reason one row of data gets added to the listview control and when you run the procedure gain, 2 rows of the same data gets added, and then 3 rows, etc.
This code calls the procedure "CallGetUserLockout"

May 19, 2008I have a datagridview (datagridview1) on my form which onload displays all the records from the bindingsource (bindingsource1) via an sql connection to a table in sql server called "article".
I also have a combobox on the same form which displays the name column from the same "customer" table -

Me.ComboBox1.ValueMember = "custid"
I would like to enable my combobox to filter the datagridview via itsSelectedIndexChanged event . So if custname "xxxone" is selected in the combobox then the datagrid shows only the results for custname "xxxone".
So far I have worked out how to enable the combobox to move to the position in the datagridview depending on which custnameis selected-
Me.myBindingSource.Position = Me.ComboBox1.SelectedIndex
But this method still shows the other titles,it doesnt filter them out, it just points to the selected custname. I cannot find how to filter the datagridview so ONLY the selected custname is shown.
I will be changing the field names, I have used custname and custid just to describe what I am trying to do.

Word 2007 Adding Adding Values To Combo List Box
Jun 7, 2011I am trying to create a simple Word doc that when the user presses the button it takes the information in the boxes and tosses it into a template style paragraph. But my issue is that I have two combo list boxes as seen in the picture. I want to have two values in the drop down list as seen in the labels next to them but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do this in Word 2007. In Visual Studio this is much easier but I am work and need to snap this out for the folks at work. Is there an option that I can choose in the properties where I type in the values for each drop down or do I have to add them in at run time?

Set X,y,z Values From Text File Into Separate Arrays
Nov 7, 2011I have been trying to find out how to do this for days now, so I am finally asking how. I am newish to programming. Here is my problem.
I am trying to extract x,y,z coordinates from a text file arranged as such:
x,y,z
x,y,z
x,y,z
etc.
I need to be able to extract the x column into an array, the y into an array, and the z into an array. I learned how to pull it into a string, and how to split for every line, but i don't know how to split after each comma and separate them.
