I've got a string which could or could not contain the substring "/announce". I would like to replace this part of the string with "/scrape" if its found...so far nothing tricky. But heres the thing: I only want to replace it if the '/' in it is the last occurring in the string. Heres what I mean:
Heres a scenario where I want the replace to happen:
MyStringWithRandomText/announce?x=19
would become:
MyStringWithRandomText/scrape?x=19
And heres another scenario where the '/' in announce is not the last '/' occuring in the string, so I dont want to replace it:
MyStringWithRandomText/announce/foo?x=19
I hope that made sense. Not sure if there is a way to handle this by only using RegEx
I'd like to be able to match a specific sequence of characters, starting with a particular substring and ending with a particular substring. My positive lookahead regex works if there is only one instance to match on a line, but not if there should be multiple matches on a line. I understand this is because (.+) captures up everything until the last positive lookahead expression is found. It'd be nice if it would capture everything until the first expression is found.
Here is my regex attempt:
@@FOO[(.*)(?=~~)~~(.*)(?=]@@)]@@
Sample input:
@@FOO[abc~~hi]@@ @@FOO[def~~hey]@@
Desired output: 2 matches, with 2 matching groups each (abc, hi) and (def, hey).
Actual output: 1 match with 2 groups (abc~~hi]@@ @@FOO[def, hey)
I am developing an application proj on it.. In that, I want to separate charaters of the string which is of following stream, 18 Feb 2011 06:05:24 0601 110218055515,3,26;9948;9948;9947;9951;9956;9954;99 61;9958;9965;9967;125672N0801272E;110218055550; In this I want to separate as, Mail recieved time = 18 Feb 2011 06:05:24 msg recieved time = 110218055515 msg sent time = 110218055550 Position = 125672N0801272E water level 1 = 9948 water level 2 = 9948 water level 3 = 9947 water level 4 = 9951 water level 5 = 9956 water level 6 = 9954 water level 7 = 9961 water level 8 = 9958 water level 9 = 9965 water level 10 = 9967 I am only aware of IndexOf and LastIndexOf methods, and these methods are used to find the index of first and last occurence character position, but I want to split the string in subsequent characters too..
I have dates like the following (note trailing 'T')
2011-11-07T15:24:28 2011-11-07T
With regex i need to extract just the date part so both will look like this
20111107 20111107
.net Have a webservice that is returning a date like 2011-11-07T15:24:28, but on some occasions it returns date with no time but still with the trailing T. This causes .net's cdate function to bail out.
I have a sub that takes a string, replaces all characters that are not alphanumberic and or a "/" and replaces it with a space. Then it goes through and replaces all multiple spaces with a single space.
Right now I am using a string builder to do this. My problem is that this action must be done several hundred to thousand times depending on the filesize I am comparing it to (1 richtextbox line = 1 string)
I believe I should see a significant increase in performance if I can figure out how to do this using a single regex.replace function. How would I go about constructing a regex.replace function that would keep all alphanumberic characters and "/" and replace everything else with a single space?
I have 2 questions regarding replacing certain text in a string which has been found using regular expressions. For example this is my string:"<span style="font-weight: bold">This</span> is <span style="font-weight: bold">2010</span>"
I am working on a program and for one of my features, I need to replace all spaces in a program with - (dashes.) Is there a way in which I can do this?
Example: Start String = "The rain in Spain falls mainly in the plain." End String = "The-rain-in-Spain-falls-mainly-in-the-plain."
I currently have a very long column (5,000+) of which a lot of cells start with a range of zeros which I want to get rid of (the zero's that is). After importing the data from a txt file, I have a loop going through each row in turn getting data from different cells. So I could amend when teh data is being imported or during the loop reading the data.
I have a binary file. If I look at it with a hex editor, the first values are:208, 207, 17, 224, 161, 177, 26, 225, 0, 0, 0, ... etc.It has a length of 330240 bytes I have tried to open it and read it into a string so I can manipulate it and write it back. No matter what I use, I either don't get the correct number of bytes or the values in the string are incorrect. The most common error results in the first values being: 63, 63, 17, 63, 63, 26, 0, 0, 0 .... etc.It is interesting that it appears that any value > 63 becomes 63.
I get the 2nd values by a simple loop:
For lnx = 0 To 99 Debug.Write(Asc(line.Substring(lnx, 1))) Next
I have tried a whole number of ways to read in the file, including filestream, My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText, File.io.readAllLines, etc.All either give me a string length of about 324000 (not sure why) or, if they do, don't have the correct values. Yes, I have tried various encoding options.
I need to find a string (sort of like: "D" & Chr(0) + "L" & Chr(0) + "S" & Chr(0)... ) so I can then replace that portion of the string with a new value, then write out the file.I use the ".indexOf" to find the data in the string. Why can't I load the file into a string? Or, do you know of an easy way to find some text (similar to above) in a file and then replace the next x number of bytes with a new value and close the file?
when i copy code from vb.net code window, and paste it in my richtextbox, the color synthax is as it displays in my vb.net code window.. this i want to keep when finding and replacing words. i have the following code to find and replace,
I have an issue here, lets say I have this string: "Lets create a database called 'farfromwest' and then host it" And I want to change the substring that is inside the ' ' with "nearwest", how can I do it? "Lets create a database called 'nearwest' and then host it" Remember, I want to change what is inside ' ', this means it could be any word, not just the one of the example!
I have a program that goes through SQL statements, identifying component parts with a space. eg: -
SELECT * FROM tblSales WHERE CustomerID=10 AND Year=2011
Would produce the following as separate components: - "SELECT","*","FROM","tblSales","WHERE","CustomerID=10","AND" and "Year=2011" The problem I have however is the use of spaces within values eg.:- SELECT * FROM tblSales WHERE CustomerNameID='Test Company' AND Year=2011 Using the same space-separating logic, this would produce components of:
I am using vb.net to parse my own basic scripting language, sample below. I am a bit stuck trying to deal with the 2 separate types of nested brackets.
Assuming name = Sam Assuming timeFormat = hh:mm:ss Assuming time() is a function that takes a format string but has a default value and returns a string.
[code]....
I could in theory change the syntax of the script completely but I would rather not. It is designed like this to enable strings without quotes because it will be included in an XML file and quotes in that context were getting messy and very prone to errors and readability issues. If this fails I could redesign using something other than quotes to mark out strings but I would rather use this method.
Preferably, unless there is some other way I am not aware of, I would like to do this using regex. I am aware that the standard regex is not really capable of this but I believe this is possible using MatchEvaluators in vb.net and some form of recursion based replacing. However I have not been able to get my head around it for the last day or so, possibly because it is hugely difficult, possibly because I am ill, or possibly because I am plain thick. I do have the following regex for parts of it.
Detecting the parentheses: (w*?)((.*?))(?=[^(+)]*((|$)) Detecting the square brackets: [[(.*?)]](?=[^[+]]*([[|$))
I'm working on a program that gets some info about a certain web page. But one of the features is it needs to find all the links to other webpages on THE SAME site (I think its called an internal link... not sure). I already figured out how to get the page's HTML code, now i just need to know how to find stuff like "" in the HTML code then output me [URL]
I must admit it's been a few years since my RegEx class and since then, I have done little with them. So I turn to the brain power of SO. . . I have an Excel spreadsheet (2007) with some data. I want to search one of the columns for a pattern (here's the RegEx part). When I find a match I want to copy a portion of the found match to another column in the same row.
I'm trying to find a pattern in a string, I guess is very easy but I'm terrible in regular expressions. I have a big text and I need to find all the next type of pattern: {a|b|c} That can be also something like this: {a|b|c|s|f|f|ft|r} or any number of items inside but at least 2 items so the pipe symbol is another key. Is this an easy regular expression? I'm using vb.net 2005.
I have a listbox containing a collection of strings (phrases) and would like to know if one of these phrases contains a substring. For example... myListBox contains the following strings stored in the items collection:
I've got an issue with a program I am writing. The specific issue is replacing characters in a parent string by finding, and matching, specific characters within it that are parsed from an external xml file. It's for a chat-like client. Here's the 2 classes I am using to pull the emote strings, titles, and id from external XML:
Imports System.Text.RegularExpressions Imports System.Xml.Serialization Public Class emote
I'm trying to create a valid RegEx replacement pattern for correctly formatting specific .XML file names. Specifically, if a file name does not begin with a prefix, let's say, ACE_. If the XML file name and extension does not begin with ACE_, prepend the string ACE_ to the file name. For example, if my input source string is the following:
Widgets.xml
I would like to execute a single RegEx Replacement that would result in the string being:
ACE_Widgets.xml.
Conversely, if the string already begins with ACE_, I would like it to remain unchanged. Also, how can I include the pattern ".xml" to ensure that the string pattern for the file name and extension ends with ".xml" in the same matching pattern for the RegEx Replacement pattern? As for the match, I have some luck with the following:
^ACE_{1}[dD]+
Which indicates there is a match for the pattern if the input string is ACE_Widgets.xml and no match if the string is Widgets.xml The RegEx pattern would suffice, but if you need to know the language in which I'd like to use the replacement pattern is in .NET 4.0 in either C# or VB.NET.
The following posting is close to what Im looking for, but with the inclusion of the *ix directory path prefix, and the use of preg_replace() in PHP, I'm having a bit of a struggle getting it to work with what I need to do:
Regular Expression: How to replace a string that does NOT start with something?
How will I select a substring with 2 criteria? I have a Richtextbox where I select a number after a : with this code; For Each line As String In Richtextbox1.Lines Dim equalsPos As Integer = line.IndexOf(":") + 1 txtFound.AppendText(line.Substring(equalsPos, line.Length - equalsPos)) Next This is working ok, but the whole line.length is appended for number2. The line ex. Some text:my number some text-my number2. I want my number appended to txtFound, and my number2 appended to txtFound2. With my code only number2 can be appended correct.
txt1 = help and txt2 = me! txt3 = not here, when i enter the other box i want the okay to drop sign to come up, after drop txt1=me! and txt2 = help.if i drag to txt3 display the can't drop sign.Iv'e tried everything all i can do is replace one way.also,i want the can't drop and can drop simbols to show.so far
I am having an issue where I am using regex.Replace to replace part of a string. The basic idea is that I want to capture the beginning of the string then replace the end of the string with a value from code. For an example pretend I have a string that says "Test Number " followed by number and I want to increment that number. I capture the "Test Number " but when I try to concatenate that capture with the new number it treats the capture ($1) as a literal and replaces the entire string with $1[new number].
[code]...
This will output "We are on Test Number 2", as expected. how I can use a variable in the replacement string portion of the Regex.Replace when including a captured group?
I am trying to remove VB6 type code and use VB.Net code, in particular, remove "Left" and use "Substring". This code does not do what the old style code does. It seams to ignore the first two chars and forces the msgbox prompt no matter what I type in the textbox (at "Leave").
Private Sub TextBox5_Leave(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TextBox5.Leave If TextBox5.Text = "" Then 'Do nothing
