C# - Binding Data To A Button In Repeater?
Apr 30, 2011I have a repeater which has a hidden field of Parking_ID <asp:HiddenField Value='<%# Eval("Parking_ID") %>' ID="HiddenField1" runat="server" /> and a Button under it.
I tried binding the value to the button from the html, it is giving me an error which indicates binding did not work. The programming language for the form is C# How can I bind the value of Parking_ID with its button in order to pass that value to another form? and how it can be passed to the other form?

When one of the textboxes (let's call it XYZ.Text) is bound to the database, it prevents the data from any of the other bound text boxes to enter the database. When the binding for this one text box (XYZ.Text) is removed, then all the other text boxes work fine.

Later (in another module), I need to retrieve the products from the Repeater, but it seems not to work with Repeater.Item.DataItem (which is then null).
My question is, is there any reference to the products in the Repeater-Items? Or do I have to set it myself via id field etc. What would be the easiest way to get the "underlying" product objects?

Please note, I am using .NET 2.0, coding with VB and my data is all held on a MySQL database.This is pretty simple for most aspects, but as the whole thing is dynamic some things are proving more difficult.I have a set of tags which are dynamically generated with a repeater as follows:

The data is really, really, simple, all I need to be able to do is query a table on my MySQL database for COUNT of ID WHERE locationName = Container.DataItem during each loop of the repeater... but I don't know how to do this.I'm thinking maybe I have to do this first, create a table in memory somehow, but I am afraid I have no idea how to achieve this.
Has anyone got any examples of a similar thing, it's kind of binding to a repeater from two datasources... each task is very simple, but I don't know how to put it all together!

May 17, 2009I have been successful in using the datasource binding in VB 2008 (drag and drop from datasource to form)My question is that I have date and time fields in an access database. In the database they are fine. I have the date as a long date and the time field as medium time.When these dates are viewed in my vb form, they show as:example (for date of 5/15 and time of 9:00)
Date field: 5/15/2009 12:00:00 AM
Time field: 12/30/1899 9:00:00 AM
I tried to format these field in VB to long date and medium time but it doesn't change. Any suggestions on how to do this?

But .NET is so picky I can't just make two different queries in an IF statement and then use it outside of the if statement. I can think of some ugly work arounds for this, but I would rather not. Nov 30, 2009after i drag the datagrid view from the data source windows the group of controls appear in my form does not include a binding navigator, i also dont see it in the component area.
but when i try the example from northwind database after i drag datagried view it already have a binding navigator. why my own project dont?
EDIT: im able to figure out about this 1st question, just a little bit of exploration , i just add the navigator control from the control toolbox. then set the binding source. ^^,
question 2: when the binding navigator is now available.
when the navigator is already now in the form i will set the visible property = FALSE.
i will make a control button that will serve as "Save and Addnewrecord" that will save the data (from the text box )and save it to the table and add new record read to accept new data.

Apr 14, 2010During Loading a form, I bind a datasource property of the DGV to the bindingsource, and then set the fillweight property of the DGV columns. But, after form being shown, earlier set properties are being reseted to default = 100.
The procedure is like:
1. TestForm.Show()
2. TestForm_Load(...) Hnadles MyBase.Load
DGV.DataSource = bindingsource
DGV.columns(0).fillweight = 80
DGV.columns(1).fillweight = 120
3. Me.close() (Closing the form which called TestForm.Show()
And now I have visible a TestForm with well binded datasouce seeing all the columns, but their fillweith property was beeing reseted...

Jun 11, 2011I Have a question about binding (pageID + PermissionID) to a checkbox/ checkboxlist, without using a textbox or any other tool. The thing is, i'm working on something just for exploration is it possible to have multiple checkboxes all bind to a different pageID but all have same permission. (lets say the permission is view-only) So when some checks a checkbox with ID 1, ,5,9,19,56 he gets view permission to those pages. when he uncheckes then they get deleted.

Using Data Repeater, Using SQL Statements VB2010?
Dec 28, 2010I have used a data repeater and linked it with the data source. The program lists all the names of clients from the database with an ID number and also a URL.My first question is how can i make the url that is displayed as a link label, link to the default browser when clicked. I normally use the Shell("c:/program files/internet explorer/iexplore.exe "URL HERE") command but i'm not sure how to make this work with the data repeater?
My second question is to do with starting services, i need to take the ID number from the current data repeater record and then place it within a service name, for example if the service was callled Client_** the two ** represent the client ID. This then needs to start the service when button is clicked on the current record on the data repeater.
My third and final question is how to query a field in a current record of a data repeater, for example if i wanted to query a field called ID for that current record shown, is there a function i need to use to call the information?

Jan 27, 2011Normally, when populating controls with data from a database I create a connection and then pass a SQL statement to create a DataReader. I then loop through the DataReader and populate the controls. Because I am creating the SQL statement on the fly I can query the database joining on multiple tables to get just the columns and rows I need.
Now I'm trying to use the Data Repeater control in VS 2010. The Data Repeater is part of the Visual Basic Power Pack add on. If you don't have it, it is similar to the Data Grid. I've never used the data grid because I found it lacking. I need more control on how to display the data. The data repeater seems as though it will work in this particular instance.
So, following the numerous on-line tutorials I created a new data source and a new dataset using the wizards. I pointed the dataset to a table in my data source and then bound the dataset to the data repeater. It works but the dataset is bound to a table. I can think of very few instances where I would need to dump the data from a table on to form. I need to be able to query the table.
I need to be able to pass a SQL statement to the dataset at run-time. It needs to be able to retain the bindings to the controls or I need to be able to bind the controls at run-time. No property jumps out at me for changing the dataset SQL statement at run-time. I can't see how to bind controls on the data repeater at time time. I can bind a data set to a data repeater at run-time, but I can figure out how to bind the controls to the dataset fields at run-time.
