What I want is this: sLine = "000001 Screen" (I do want to keep the space between the number and the text, so that is why its not just a replace) What I see with the following code is this: sLine = "01 Screen" Some how the replace does the first char, but then is not adding the zeros to the rest of the string, its just removing them (somehow I think it must think integer? I've gotten as far as finding the beginning and end of the string as instances of VirtualPoint. Now I'm trying to select from the first VirtualPoint to the second. And I can't figure it out. May 20, 2011I have a notepad I'm creating, but i've tried everything I could think of to replace a tab indent with spaces on keys.tab event.When I press the Tab key I want it to replace the tab indent with 4 individual spaces. Like as if I was to press the space bar 4 times, only that would be done automatically upon pressing the tab key on my keyboard.
I'm using a richtextbox control. I have a tab settings form, where I will be able to give users an option to choose how many spaces the tab key will represent. I just need to figure out how to replace the {TAB}.
so far, I have the number of spaces correct, but the last space in the series after pressing my tab key seems a bit larger than the rest of the spaces, and is not a real (normal) space character. That puts everything out of line when i'm typing on a new line. the characters don't line up vertically and when I press the space key however many times i've set the {Tab} key to represent, the tab key even though it should have the same number of spaces occupies a larger distance horizontally if that makes sense.

Mar 1, 2012I want to select a random space in a string and replace it with a word (%word%) but there is a problem. The position cannot be fixed as i want it to be inserted at a random break. Few things which iam considering :
1)break the string at a space and merge it with the word
2) find a random space and replace it with the word. I like this point and so far all i have is break the selectedtext into string array and then iterate over each line. But i don't know how to find a random string position? Any short and sweet code please?

Jun 3, 2011I am making a program for work, i have it partly coded, unfortunately i don't have a wifi connection for my laptop right now which makes it hard to add my code here. What i am trying to do is have the user pull in a text file from anywhere on the computer using a open file box that pops up, i got that part, to make sure that is working i have a textbox that reads the data of that text file, it gets pulled in fine using a stream reader. Now what i need to do is search the text file for certain values, and depending on the selected item in the listbox which is on another form, change that value in the text file, im guessing i will need to use a stream writer, and ive seen examples used based on the file location(C:....) but in my case im not sure how to do it.
