The original string is like this: sLine = " 1 Screen"
What I want is this: sLine = "000001 Screen" (I do want to keep the space between the number and the text, so that is why its not just a replace) What I see with the following code is this: sLine = "01 Screen" Some how the replace does the first char, but then is not adding the zeros to the rest of the string, its just removing them (somehow I think it must think integer? How can I parse out undesireable characters from a collection of data?I am working with existing VB.NET code for a Windows Application that uses StreamWriter and Serializer to output an XML document of transaction data. Code below.

I'm still in the learning stages sorry, and this is probably simple to most of you but I couldn't find the answer through searching.I'm trying to work out how to replace each successive space in a piece of text with a single character from "% $ ! @ #" in that order, and loop.
Easier to explain with an example;say I have the text: "This is a piece of text I am using as an example."
It should end up looking like this: "This%is$a!piece@of#text%I$am!using@as#an%example."

I want to select a random space in a string and replace it with a word (%word%) but there is a problem. The position cannot be fixed as i want it to be inserted at a random break. Few things which iam considering :
1)break the string at a space and merge it with the word
2) find a random space and replace it with the word. I like this point and so far all i have is break the selectedtext into string array and then iterate over each line. But i don't know how to find a random string position? Any short and sweet code please?

how can i replace the enter key event present in an ASP variable with a white space i tried a lot but bad luck...Actually there is no character like vbCrlf or <br> in the string actually I am getting ...it is an enter key event present in the string taken from a textarea ..... I have a bunch of object variables which are all initialised in their declarations such that:

I would like to use the Visual Studio Find/Replace dialog box to search for "As New" then replace everything from "As New" to the first set of speech marks with some text such that:

I am using VS2008. I worked on this problem for a time, but I was not successful doing it. Below is the VS file.I need to produce a grid of cells and have some random features as shown below which is an example of a world of (500 x 500) units (or any other size and grid size). It contains three areas (of 11 cells, Value of each cell = 108), two green areas (of 8 cells, Value of each cell = 137) and one river. The start point of the river should start from one of the world edges and finish to another one. Please note that number of feature could increase or decrease according to user inputs.The question is, how can I produce these features randomly? To clarify the question, I will read the number of areas from a form. I need these features so that the number of cells should be distributed randomly beside (attached to) each other in the world. The rivers occupy one sequential grid line. My problem is how can I randomly generate the features according to number of cells??

I am trying to design a report where one filed can be multiple lines and the other related field should be located below (See attached)
address may be 1 one or more lines, city state zip should be located just below.
I already have the field set to can grow, however the spacing is the issue. How do I make the spacing adjust at runtime depending on the number of lines in the field. I can space it to say 3 lines, but if the address filed is only 1 line it leaves a 3 line gap.

I've been looking at this for a while and I'm stumped. I'm under the impression that if I use strOpass = strOpass.Replace(":d", "Z") that I should be seeing any numbers that a user inputs the code line there will return a Z. It's not working and I don't understandI've also tried "[0 - 9]" and :z, but the program is still returning the original input.B is not giving me a hard time over that line ( no errors or warnings. ) The other statements work just fine and return a X just like they should. HiI'm trying to get a multi-line, word-wrap enabled rich text box to display text with non-breaking spaces in. For example, '20 000' should always appear as one word, not split onto the next line.I've tried {20'a0 000}, 20{'a0 }000, {20~000}, {20emdash 000} and so on. Nothing seems to work.During my searching, I did see a suggestion somewhere that the DLL that the rich text box is based on doesn't support non-breaking characters.

I have two lines of text which have long space (more like 14-15 spaces) before the actual text. I have tried simple replace to split and merge but nothing is working. I have also tried trim and the worst thing is that ASCII gives code of 32. But nothing works. Here is the text :

I'm just now starting to work on something that works 'like' an ide, where it will auto space my text as I type. I really JUST started and I'm not sure if I'm even doing it remotely like I should. anyways, what I'm doing is on TextChanged (eventually I'll just do it on newline but that can wait) it gets the contents of the text box, puts each line into a string array, trims the excess whitespace, see's if it has a keyword in it, and then adds some whitespace to it if it does.I know I'm doing something wrong with either my declarations or my error handling. Mostly because i'm not sure how to work with string arrays, can you help me with my syntax?[code]

I am having some trouble including tab and space delimiters in my multiple delimiter code (see code below). It seems I can not just add the <vbtab> and <vbCrLf> codes into my delimiters list so I tried to replace them beforehand with a Clean String Function (also see code below) but it didn't seem to work. Ultimately, I would like to add any delimited text file to my datagridview.
The code below is working fine except for tabs and spaces (including next-to-each-other separators) I am using Visual Basics Express 2008.[code...]

I am trying to open a text delimited database using the jet.OLEDB.4.0 driver. My connection string is as shown here:

I have read that you either need to alter the registry, or to add a schema.ini file containing information about the delimiter in order to recognize the delimiter. My question is if there is any way to do this without altering the registry or adding a schema.ini file, as both of these are unfortunately not an option. The only solution I currently see is to split each row, is this the only way out.
