Replace Value In A Row In Table Data With New Value?
Jul 27, 2011
I want to replace the value of timeout in my table. The data type for my timeout column is time(7). I try the following code but I get error of "value of type of string cannot be converted to system.timespan
Dim datacontext As New DataClassesDataContext
Dim tout = (From p In datacontext.tblWorkTimes
Where p.Staff_Name.Equals(Session("staffname")) And p.Date.Date = DateTime.Now.ToString("dd/MM/yyyy")
Select p).Single
tout.TimeOut = DateTime.Now.ToString("HH:mm:ss")
datacontext.SubmitChanges()
Is there a simple way that I can replace a foreign key in a datatable, with a corresponding value from the table that the key is referring to, without having to create a new table or use tableadapter? Ive got a table that has a foreign key to a child table, and I need to get a column from that table to fill a dataview?
i have a problem in locating bookmarks which are defined inside the table cell. Each table cell in my word document can contain multiple textboxes. I need to fill text in each of these textboxes using word automation. I tried placing bookmarks inside these textboxes for each cell and tried to replace using Word Automation. But unfortunately, i cant locate / replace the bookmark using the following lines:
cell.Range.Bookmarks.get_Item(ref oBookmark).Select(); //this is throwing exception as it couldnt find bookmark in cell.Range.Bookmarks list.cell.Application.Selection.InsertAfter("New Text");

Im using this code in vb.net, but works only one byte replacing. Plz, how to work many byte search and replace.I want find all F1 B6 D9 E8 C5 and replace to F7 B3 D1 E7 C4 and save. my code:Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim fullFilename As String
This is my first time working with VB, though I've been working with VBA for a couple years now to automate office routines at my work. At my last job, I saved about 3 hours a day with my automations, and at my current job, I'm shooting for about the same. The problem is, though I have a high affinity for computers and technology, I never studied to be a programmer, and so I really can only tweak code I find online, and then eventually build up enough of my own subroutines to accomplish the tasks at hand. This is why I'm posting here on this forum, I've reached my wits end for what I imagine is a relatively simple problem. This was initially written in VB 6, but I imported and converted it with Visual Studio 2008, and it runs fine. This demo code is set to populate a PDFwith some sample string text. What I want to do is to replace the string text with a reference to data in either an Access or SQL database - I prefer Access, but either will work. Here is a sample of the demo code I'm working with:
[code]...
On this last line, I want to replace the "1" sting text with a reference to a temporary 1-row table I'll be generating from an Access Query, with Field Names to match the Form Field names of the PDF, So I've setup an Access DB with the following configuration (in reference to the path, I'm using Vista x64):
[code]...
I have also imported this table as a dataset (my understanding is that the import into Visual Studio 2008 makes it a typed dataset?) so either referencing the access DB directly or the imported Dataset should work. I can also setup the Access DB as a SQL DB instead if it would make it easier. Now, if I was programming in VBA, I might do something like this:
and what I'd like to do is when users edit something on this form that they post the changes to a table called exceptionsedit which is not part of that dataset. What I don't know how to do is to how to insert those edits to the exceptionsedit table.
I M using small application it has two textbox i m put data in textbox1 and find output in textbox2 i want to do mulipal replace text in textbox2 like
Quote"KB" to "kilobyte" "MB" to "megabyte" "GB" to "gigabyte" "TB" to "terabyte"
For this i m using this Code
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click TextBox2.Text = TextBox1.Text Dim i As Integer = 0
The file reads in parameters and two of the parameters used to be in Date Format YYYYMMDD but will now permanently be in format YYYY-MM-DD. This change, I believe, is stopping the import of the file from working. I would like to replace the new format YYYY-MM-DD back to YYYYMMDD in the code. If possible I'd also like to see some output so I know that the old format has been replaced with the new format. The code is below. I added the two rows with .replace code in green in expecting that to be enough but it is still not working.
Public Sub Main() Dim R1, O1, P1, C1, strDateFrom, strDateTo, strRunDate As String
I'm working on a timekeeping application in Visual Basic 2008 and am having trouble formatting a timespan for display. Here's how I want to the information:If a positive number my Label will be: lblTimespan.txt will show as "12 Hours And 15 Minutes" This works fine.If its a negative number I want to display it as "(12 Hours And 15 Minutes)'[ in red. The problem is that I can't get rid of the minus sign. [code] Thr Replace doesn't seem to want to replace the "-", can anyone suggest what to do?
I have a bunch of object variables which are all initialised in their declarations such that:
Private _myObject As New ThisObject("SomeString")
where ThisObject is one of a number of object types, but all are initialised using a string.
I would like to use the Visual Studio Find/Replace dialog box to search for "As New" then replace everything from "As New" to the first set of speech marks with some text such that:
EDIT
My original example could be solved using other methods. This example is more representative of the actual problem:
Private _myObjectA As New ThisObjectA("SomeString") Private _myObjectLongName As New ThisObjectLongName("SomeString")
I have a database, added in data sources. I can manage records with automatically generated database toolbar.I want buttons for Add, Replace, Erase data from Database. So far i've seen some Tutorials but they are most likely for VB6 and also i'm really new on VB at all.

Currently using VB 2008 with MS Access 2003.I have Two Tables with Names - " Company_Data" & "User_Data" in which i have the following columns.....
Company_Data Name|Age|Department|Salary User_Data Name|Age|Department|Updated On
Now, Is there any code that can do the following:when i select a name in the combo box on the form (The list in the combo box is from the Name in the Company_Data table) and click update.It should copy the Details of the Record from Company_Data to User_Data with the current date in "Updated on" column. Note that the columns are not exactly Same. (Salary is not necessary in the User_Data)?
I want to copy Header Data from one table to another. I know how to do this if the table data is exactly the same, but I need to generate a new HeaderKey for the destination table.Example - I am copying SalesOrder Header Data into the PickList Header Table, but I need to also add a PickListHeaderKey when I do so. It cannot be the SalesOrderHeaderKey which will be copied also.
I really need your help. I want to query in a table in MS SQL using a data in another table.This is the query I've constructed : "SELECT TABLE1.FIELD1,TABLE1.FIELD2 FROM TABLE1, TABLE2.[code]
have made the data table in vb code, and it works flawlessly. It gets its values from labels which are part of a calculation.It shows the information to the user in a datagridview. Now i would like it to add new rows and fill them in if the user has already entered the data once and it has been logged in the datagridview.here is the current
'DATA TABLE Dim Table1 As DataTable Table1 = New DataTable("CF Log")
I am trying to filter out all unwanted characters from a string. All I want in the string is letters A-Z, numbers 0-9 as well as comma (,) plus (+) and quotes (").I figured how to do the letters and numbers, but the 3 special characters are giving me a problem. I also tried with the Chr(34) equivelant for the " sign, but no luck, as and " or , messes up the way the code is read. Heres what I have so far, but it only works for A-Z and 0-9:
