Repopulating DetailsView Control?

I have a DetailsView1 control that is databound in many fields but also has fields that I prepopulate upon loading the page for the first time. Example being fields named ROW, FLAG, PRINTED. The user can then input data into the other fields Like FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, COMMENTS and press INSERT. I should also mention that these fields are templatefields.

Then the insert of the data begins and creates a SQL record. This works as designed the first time thru.The problem begins when I try to populate the same fields for the next record using the same logic that I used the first time but the fields will not come to the screen populated the second time. What do I need to do in order to get the fields in the DataView1 to be populated after the first INSERT command has cycled thru its process?

I am using VS2010 and .NET 4. My form has a DataGridView (dgvTest), and a checkbox (CheckBox1). I am selecting 2 or 3 fields from a table, depending on whether the checkbox is checked (which it is initially). My possible SQL statements are "SELECT ID,strForenames,strSurname FROM tblAlumni" and "SELECT strForenames,strSurname FROM tblAlumni".
I have used SQL Profiler to confirm that these are the queries sent to the DB. All seems well when I load the form (I see 3 fields, in the order I expect), and when I uncheck the box (I see 2 fields, in the order I expect). However, when I check it again, the ID field appears THIRD in the columns of the DataGridView, not first! I have found a couple of reports of something similar to this (mis)behaviour on the Net, but folks just seem to find some other way to do the job rather than ask is this a problem with DataGridView that needs fixed.

do your experts agree this is a bug? The "fix" is to wipe the DataGridView between repopulations, but I'm not sure I should have to?

trying to figure out out to make a combo box re-populate itself with values from its data bindings from an Access database.
I have my bindings in the combo box, and it pulls the right column from my table, and returns the proper value to a different table. Everything saves properly to all of the tables, but what i am trying to accomplish here is this...
I have a combo box, it is populated with a database column of "G/L codes" (by the way that is not the column name) the combo box shows these values without problem.
These codes exist in a table that is editable (basically so the user can add a G/L code to the list if one is missing), a button is supplied that opens a new form, which contains DB related text boxes, and a data binding navigator to look through the data base records, save, add new records, etc. When this form is loaded, the user can add a new record, save the info, and then close this form, which brings us back to the main form where the combo box is located that is populated with the values of this G/L code table, what I am trying to get working is updating this combo box now that a new G/L code has been added.
I have been looking for a solution for days, tried many forums, read all posts on this site that had a keyword of "combo box" and I can still find nothing. I have tried many code samples such as...

I have a DetailsView that looks just about perfect. The only thing is, there is one field that actually gets its information from another table. It is an ID field that is linked to another table in the database and I was hoping that there was some way to get that one field in the DetailsView to pull the information from the other table.
Is there a way to maybe add a + (plus sign) next to the PicklistID and then have it show the results of the other query? (SELECT TEXT FROM PICKLIST WHERE PicklistID = @PicklistID???)
UPDATE 1/11/12: The PICKLISTID in the table PICKLIST is not unique or a primary key so I cannot reference it from the SURVEY table. Is there a way to give these 2 columns a relationship so that I can just change my SELECT statement in my DetailsView to include the PICKLISTID?
UPDATE 1/23/12: I'm still stuck on this. I am not getting how to make this work at all.

Does anyone know if it is possible to resize an imagelist/listview image without repopulating the image list? I am using scroll bar to change the image size from 25 point to 256 point. When I leave the scroll bar the imagelist repopulates from the files list. This can be very slow when working with high resolution pictures. I don't want to limit the image size to 2 sizes by using large and small imagelist.

In this project that I'm creating, I'm creating a mock-up of a page that uses a DetailView (something I saw in a blog) that seems to fit my needs. However, I don't want the data to be bound to anything.So, I added the control and then I started adding the appropriate mock-up columns to it and tried to render the control on the test page. I'm attempting to reference the text from a label in a DetailsView in my CodeBehind, then pass it through a Stored Procedure.My DetailsView is DetailsView1, and the two fields are lblDialID & lblCallbackID. I've converted them to TemplateFields. The data is populating properly, but when I'm attempting to grab the data and pass it, I'm not getting any results.The Stored Procedure is not performing it's action, and a Response.Write on the variables does not produce any results so assumedly I'm just grabbing thin air :)

Could this also be because I am passing a string, but the SP is taking it as an INT? This shouldn't pose a problem though?

Im trying to do bind a dropdown list to a details view but keep getting an error about the dropdown list ID field:

What is the proper way to attach the value of the dropdownlist to my object so that it can be properly created in the database? Most of my searches keep telling me how to bind a dropdownlist to an object data source, but that is not what I need to do. This is a basic drop down list of 2 items that will never change.

I'm trying to design a detailsView form which contains [classes] --< [studentClasses] >-- [students] tables. There is a many to many relationship between [classes] and [students] through the third table [studentClasses]. I want to design the detailsView of [classes] such as that all [students] will be listed in a listbox but related students that take the class will be highlighted. And when I select/deselect students from the listbox and save I want the changes to be saved to respective tables.

Background: I have a GridView which gets populated from an SqlDataSource via DataSourceID. The rows show some summary data from an SQL View. Upon clicking a row, I would like to take my user to another page with a DetailsView control which gets populated with the full set of values from the DB related to the row clicked. My user should be able to edit the data, download files associated with the record, and create a new record of a different type based on said data.
Error: All examples that I've found for Clickable GridView rows end up with some variation of the error Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page.

I've got a DetailsView which has some static fields defined in my markup and adds some extra fields dynamically in the VB codebehind. It should be noted that the DetailsView lives in an UpdatePanel.Assume that I would like to get inventory information for a number of warehouses, but I only want to see those which have stock on hand. In addition I have some static information such as product, sku, etc.
The problem I was having was that every time I clicked the "Details" button it would just keep appending the dynamic fields to the end and never re-rendering the table. I figure I either need a conditional or to tell it to re-render somehow. I suspect this problem arises from my use of the UpdatePanel but it's important for the user experience of my customer to keep this.

I need to be able to hide 2 options that are displayed from my dynamic bulletedlist (which is built inside of a DetailsView). Every time I try writing a loop through the BulletedList, I get an error saying that it is not a collection type, so I thought I could loop through the DetailsView to find the items I want to hide.
I can't change the SQL because this particular bulleted list gets used on 2 different pages, it's just that on one, I only need to show 2 of the 4 items that are associated with the ID.[code]...

I have a DetailsView which has two fields - one that is visible, one that is not. The first the user fills out, the second I want to auto-populate. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a way to set the value in this second invisible field. I've tried adding code like this to the Page_Load:

Here's my situation: I have a control with motion graphics (for the sake of simplicity, a 'video player' control) in my project. Think of a PictureBox with constantly-changing images. In front of this will sit a second control (such as a second PictureBox of the same dimensions). The topmost PictureBox will be drawn to in its Paint event.
I need to draw very few elements, and the bottom control is updated much more frequently than I need for this drawing. So these elements are drawn to the topmost control. Think of a news broadcast, where they have live video in the background, with a news channel logo, news ticker, and sometimes gradient visible in front.
I'm trying to create that 'foreground' control, and the closest I believe I have gotten so far is the following:

The image drawn to the top control may, in different parts of the image, have any alpha value from full transparent to a full 255. I have a requirement for a new application development where I must present some information to the user for selection via drag and drop. VB offers the TreeView control which would work nice, however the user does not like the Treeview control's presentation. The user wants a control that work similar to the Mac's Finder control while in column view.
Apple's Mac Finder Control works similar to window's treeview. Finder has a nifty view capability that my users would like in some new development that is being done. The finder supports a "column" view. Similar to the treeview, it starts out in a root list. The difference being, when a user makes a selection and clicks on a node, the node doesn't expand, the sub nodes appear on the pane to the right of the list. Clicking on a sub node, will cause the pane to split again and the items within that sub node appear
to the right again.
This will happen again and again with the left pane getting narrower as the user drives deeper into the sub nodes. That is what I am trying to replicate. Obviously, once the user reaches the base list of items, we have to support drag and drop capability. Does anyone know of a control for VB.NET that work similar to the Mac's Finder control?

I am upgrading user control from vb6 to vb.net.In the vb6 application I am loading 3000 labels using a label control array.In vb.net I am doing same but it's taking too much time to load.In vb6 it's taking 1-2 seconds, but in vb.net it's taking 30-40 seconds for same work. Why does it take too much time in vb.net for same work?Code is given below, here Led is the label control array.
