View 1 RepliesI have this kind of problem which is I need to retrieve back my database when there are cases like forgot password for staffs in duty. I know that I should use SELECT statement but I don't have any idea how I have to elaborate my coding. I provide a few security question with and answer. Then, if the question and answer match, there will be popup like "Your password is However, I need some guide or some example of systems that have this kind of function. My project due this weekend.
View 1 RepliesI am connecting to an Access database and using a parameter query with the LIKE operator to return all rows that match query. The string to search for is taken from a Textbox
sql =
"Select * FROM Allview WHERE Info Like" &
"*" &
CStr(TextBox1.Text) &
"*"
The query does not return any data in vb, but when run from access with same string, there is data returned. The connection to the database is done correctly, as I am able to return data with various other queries.

I am trying to run a query an Access db from VB. The general query which I want to run is
SELECT * FROM Patient WHERE Patient.PatientID = ?
or SELECT * FROM Patient WHERE Patient.PatientLname = ?
I tried using an input box which captured the user input and pass that variable to the query, but that failed. Then I read about writing a function and using that, however, I keep getting an error which says Function not defined, but when stepping through the code, it seems to work. Here is my function: [Code]
Access 2007 and Stored Procedure. I keep getting this error: Parameter [@MyNumber] has no default value.

how can I retrieve random data(questions) from access 2007 using vb 2008?
View 4 RepliesI have an application that uses an *.accdb file as the back-end database. Connecting to and retrieving data from the access file is not an issue and is working quite well. However, as a precaution, I have the application first check to make sure the database file exists in the application's folder while it loads up. As a convenience, if the database file is not found, then the application creates a new (structured, yet empty) database. The creation of the actual *.accdb file and the creation of the tables is complete and is also working well.

View 3 RepliesWhilst writing a routine in Access I founf it rather fiddly for user...was thinking it would be much better for them to click a button in VB.net and that would do all the hard work.
So is it possible to do these task against a Acecss 2007 database
-Delete table
-Compact database (to clear out table)
-then run query to remake table
is this doable?
i am relatively new to VB and i am working on a Visual Basic Program to build a Student Record Book where all the information is stored to an Access 2007 database. If the user is an administrator they will be able to add a new student, update delete etc. I managed to implement INSERT/DELETE/UPDATE functions and also a search button and they all appear to be working fine.

I have this code to retrieve a record to fill out a tooltip when the user's mouse enters a cell of a datagridview.
Dim dacmt As OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter
Dim con As OleDbConnection
Dim sql As String
[Code]....
This takes way too long for the tooltip to display. So, I created a query in the Access database that takes a parameter of the first field for the record you want.
How do I connect to just the query and send the parameter to it?
I am thinking this might be a quicker way to get the data for the tooltip. But then again, maybe not.
I am trying to find a way to use a month calendar control as an object data source, such that when end user selects a given date, or a date range (1 week max), it will supply the date range criteria for an access query, and the results will wind up displaying in a data grid view below the month calendar. I am having a really hard time..
how to write the date criteria into the access query for something like this
I have a form showing a datagrid that is filled with info from an Access database table. The table only has 3 fields: two of them are string type and the third one is boolean. The first String type field is also the primary key (this field is called "clave"). This datagrid is supposed to let the user select one of the rows and then click on a button to delete that row. I'm trying to do that with the following code:

I'm writing small VB.Net app which should build reports based on data gathered from some external MDB-files (Access 2007).
It was planned that this app will use parametrized SQL queries to collect data from DBs.
One of the parameters for these queries is path to the external MDB-file.
Here goes sample code:
Dim conn As New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:TempTemp.mdb;")
conn.Open()
[Code]....
Looks simple but doesn't works. After launch my app throws following exception - System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: Disk or network error.
Have spent a whole day to make it work with no success. What have I done wrong?

I have built an Access 2007 database with some data stored in it. I have managed to export data using VB2008 from that database to Excel 2007 and have it automatically draw charts based on this data and a query in the Visual Basic Code. One of the results looks like this:

I am writing a very simple program that connects to a accdb file (Microsoft Access 2007 file) and returns some results in a datagridview. Everything is fine. Now because we have to deploy this program in many computers i publish it so everyone we want can install it and have updates. What i wanted to do is to make the database file part of the program which i did it by adding it to the resources. My problem is that i do not know what connection string to enter in order to access it in my resources.
My previous connectionstring before i deploy it was this
ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:l.accdb;Persist Security Info=True
What should i change in the data source in order to access the same file in my resources?
I have multiple copies of Access dbs running varous projects on diverse workstation all over the country. Some new additions to the team have only Access 2007. Is there a way that I can use both versions without having to re-do any VBA, macros, scripts, etc.?

I am designing a shared add-in using VB.Net 2008 and VSTO that has to fire up when any MS Office App is started. It has to work for both 2002, 2003 and 2007 applications. I have managed to put together a working add-in that pops up a test message stating the version of Office and the Application name and tested this across all the apps ok.
The next part of the solution is to code the application specific code that needs to run for document auditing and corporate protective marking as well as, for example; in Excel checking that all the Add-Ins are linked to the Network Add-Ins folder.
My approach from now was going to be to late bind against the application object and set one of my typed (e.g. Excel) application object references which exist in the code to this object.
How do I add a wildcard parameter to my query. Im using a mysql database. The following doesn't work:
Dim occCmd As New MySqlCommand("SELECT occupationid, descr FROM occupations WHERE lcase(descr) like '?descr%';", con)
occCmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("?descr", prefixText)
Dim tbl as String = Request.QueryString("tb") 'tb value = User
Dim sql As String = "Select * From @table Where @Col = @ColVal"
Dim para As New SqlParameter
[Code]....
what should I do to run the sql with given table name as parameter and avoid the sql injection.
