update statement, i am trying to update a row within a access 2007 database here is my code.

I have an application that uses an *.accdb file as the back-end database. Connecting to and retrieving data from the access file is not an issue and is working quite well. However, as a precaution, I have the application first check to make sure the database file exists in the application's folder while it loads up. As a convenience, if the database file is not found, then the application creates a new (structured, yet empty) database. The creation of the actual *.accdb file and the creation of the tables is complete and is also working well.
View 1 RepliesI have a parameter query in access (2007) in which I retrieve one value. How do I access this query in vb.net and request the data to be sent back to me?
View 1 RepliesHow to use this query to update record [code]....
View 1 RepliesOperation must use an updateable query (database access 2007)
View 3 RepliesWhilst writing a routine in Access I founf it rather fiddly for user...was thinking it would be much better for them to click a button in VB.net and that would do all the hard work.
So is it possible to do these task against a Acecss 2007 database
-Delete table
-Compact database (to clear out table)
-then run query to remake table
is this doable?
It seems that i cant update my table in access 2007. Here is my code.
Try con = new oledb.oledbConnection("Provider = Microsof.ACE.OLEDB.12.0"; data source =
|DAtaDirectory|Attendance.accdb; Persist Security Info = False;")
con.Open()
[CODE]...
--I dont received an error message when i run the codes i even dont receive an exception message. but when i check my database the record was not added.
Attempting to execute an update command against an Excel 2007 file gives the error:
Operation must use an updateable query. I'm using System.Data.OleDb with a connection string like this:
Dim strConn As String = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;" & _
"Data Source=""" & pathToFile & """;" & _
"Extended Properties=""Excel 12.0;HDR=YES"""
I have tried setting ReadOnly=false but that gives Could not find installable ISAM. I have also tried setting Mode=ReadWrite and IMEX=1 which didn't seem to have any effect. My update command is like this:
Dim cmd As OleDbCommand = con.CreateCommand()
cmd.CommandText = "UPDATE [" + sheetName + "] SET [Quantity Error] = 'test' WHERE [Full Name] = 'Mr. Brown White'"
where sheetName was obtained from querying the excel schema. Is it possible to do what I am trying to?
I am designing a shared add-in using VB.Net 2008 and VSTO that has to fire up when any MS Office App is started. It has to work for both 2002, 2003 and 2007 applications. I have managed to put together a working add-in that pops up a test message stating the version of Office and the Application name and tested this across all the apps ok.
The next part of the solution is to code the application specific code that needs to run for document auditing and corporate protective marking as well as, for example; in Excel checking that all the Add-Ins are linked to the Network Add-Ins folder.
My approach from now was going to be to late bind against the application object and set one of my typed (e.g. Excel) application object references which exist in the code to this object.
i am relatively new to VB and i am working on a Visual Basic Program to build a Student Record Book where all the information is stored to an Access 2007 database. If the user is an administrator they will be able to add a new student, update delete etc. I managed to implement INSERT/DELETE/UPDATE functions and also a search button and they all appear to be working fine.
View 4 Replies[code]The query executes fine but the problem is that when this query executes, it doesn't update the percentage field. What might be the problem?
View 2 RepliesI am working on code in Visual Basic 2010 that will read from an Access 2007 data table. If the row has one of the fields marked as processed then do nothing with it, but it not, then process the data in that record, and update the field as processed, and move on to the next one marked as needing processing, looping through all of them. Later I'll go back and repeat this again.
I am able to read from the database and get all the information from it just fine, but I can't then update the 'processed' field. I'd rather like to avoid having the database integrated with the project as other processes will need to access it when this process (program) is not working on it.

View 3 Repliesi have a basic form in vb using .net framework 3.5,when the save button is clicked, it should update the data from the form to the access 2007 database,however, the whole thing runs up to the point in bold,
here it says that "The ConnectionString property has not been initialized" Private Sub Holiday_BookingBindingNavigatorSaveItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Holiday_BookingBindingNavigatorSaveItem.Click

I have 2 access databases in access 2007 I want to be able to up date one from the other.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to find a way to use a month calendar control as an object data source, such that when end user selects a given date, or a date range (1 week max), it will supply the date range criteria for an access query, and the results will wind up displaying in a data grid view below the month calendar. I am having a really hard time..
how to write the date criteria into the access query for something like this

I'm creating a form application using vb. I'm still new to this and I'm teaching myself via the internet so please don't be too mean. I wrote my code using queries that I created in visual studio. I don't quite remember how to create an update query and write the code to update different datagrids. I tried searching the forums, and I can't find anything that fits into the way I wrote my code. I have an update button that I want to use to save all the edited data in the form. Here's my code so far:
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Blsys_systemsBindingNavigatorSaveItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
Me.Validate()
Me.Blsys_systemsBindingSource.EndEdit()

View 1 RepliesI need to run a query when I add/Change a value in my first column in a datagridview. When I add a value (a identifier from a table) in my first column, then I need the query to retrive the rest of the values in the table recordset. When I try to run a query, all i get is a query that updates my whole datagridview, and not only one row, with this code in the CellValueChanged module of the datagridview:
Me.myTableTableAdapter.FillBymyQuery(Me.myDatabaseDataSet.myTable, CType(DataGridView1.CurrentRow.Cells(0).Value, Integer))
Is there anyone who knows what I have to do, so I can add several rows to my datagridview, and let a query retrive my recordset based on my value in the first datagridview column?
I COMPLETELY understand how redundant this is but I NEED it.Upon users creating a User account which only contains the ID, Username, Password and CustomerID I must also have a record in Customers create itself but null everything and the User.User_Customer_ID must update to the newly created Customer.Customer_ID
I have everything working but this pesky update query. The ONLY thing it needs to do is change User.User_Customer_ID to Customer.Customer_ID I managed to story the User.User_ID in an integer called UserID and Customer.Customer_ID in an integer called CustomerID I have tried a million different ways with no success

On an SQL query I have. I have the select query working fine but according to the result I need to set the column of a table to 0. I have the following Select query:
CODE:
So where the CommissionCalculator SetUp > 0 I want it to Update the CommissionStructure SetUp column to 0. I was thinking I might need an IF statement but I dont know how to work with them in SQL.
I am not getting any errors. But the update query is not executed as it does not change the database.
Dim cmd3 As New SqlCommand
cmd3.Connection = con
cmd3.CommandType = CommandType.Text
cmd3.CommandText = "SELECT * from table 1 join table 2 WHERE (EXP_RETURN_DATE < GETDATE())"
cmd3.ExecuteNonQuery()

I have an sqlserver 2000 database and i am able to add records and read from it but i cant modify existing records. My test table just hav user_id,Name, , Phone and State for columns.
