I have built an Access 2007 database with some data stored in it. I have managed to export data using VB2008 from that database to Excel 2007 and have it automatically draw charts based on this data and a query in the Visual Basic Code. One of the results looks like this:

I am working on code in Visual Basic 2010 that will read from an Access 2007 data table. If the row has one of the fields marked as processed then do nothing with it, but it not, then process the data in that record, and update the field as processed, and move on to the next one marked as needing processing, looping through all of them. Later I'll go back and repeat this again.
I am able to read from the database and get all the information from it just fine, but I can't then update the 'processed' field. I'd rather like to avoid having the database integrated with the project as other processes will need to access it when this process (program) is not working on it.

I am trying to create a combo box the fill with the list of names from an Access Database Column, and I have read numerous forums trying to discern what to do but the stumbling block is when I try to copy their code, changing variable names to mine, etc I hit stumbling block when they ask for things like New SqlCommand(sSQL, myConnection) and my VB IDE doesnt come up recognising the sqlcommand when I start typing it in when it tries to autocomplete what I am typing. I have added the database & tables into the DataSources area to right of the IDE (as per attached pic

[code] When insCommand.ExecuteNonQuery is executed, an exception with Error # -2147217900 is thrown, with the detail of "In order to evaluate an indexed property, the property must be qualified and the arguments must be explicitly supplied by the user." At the time the error is thrown, this is what resides in strInsert: "Insert Into ScoutInfo (ScoutID, YearID, GSUSAID, FName, LName, DoB, Grade, Level, School, YearsIn, CurrentYear) Values (10000, 20092010, 123456, 'Jacobina', 'Lowe', '11/30/2009', 'K', 'Daisy', 'Thisone', 0, '20092010')" I've already verified that the Insert statement and datatypes of the columns match.

Whilst writing a routine in Access I founf it rather fiddly for user...was thinking it would be much better for them to click a button in VB.net and that would do all the hard work.
So is it possible to do these task against a Acecss 2007 database
-Delete table
-Compact database (to clear out table)
-then run query to remake table
is this doable?

I have a table called MEMBER with fields for mem_id, mem_name, mem_addr, mem_city,mem_state, mem_zip and another table called STATE with state_id, state_addr, state_name in Access 2007.On the Visual Studio 2008 form, there is a combo box for the state. The goal here is to display the state abbreviations, but use the state_id value for the mem_state (there is a foreign key between those two fields). The mem_state is defined as number, the state_id is autonumber. Under the mem_state definition in Access, I used the lookup wizard (on the database that is in the bin/debug folder) to set the following properties:
Display Control - combo box,
Row Source Type - Table/Query,
Row Source - SELECT [State].[state_id], [State].[state_abbr] FROM State ORDER BY

I've create a new VS 2008 Window Form Project using VB. I added an oleDbDataAdapter to the first and only form, set it to a table in my Access 2007 Database (there is only one table, PK field autonum of course and two Memo fields). The Database is in the Project's folder. A standard oleDb Connection object was created, as I expected, then I select the DataAdapter and choose 'Generate Dataset' which produces a standard DataSet called 'DataSet1.xsd'. Now when I build the project I get an error 'Error 1 Type 'FontTest.DataSet1' is not defined.' I do have a reference in my new Project to System.Data.So what the @#%$@ is going on? Why isn't the Dataset create by the DataAdapter being recongized? I can get into the DataSet Designer. The DataTable create is perfect, three columns defined correctly as I expected.

First timer here, I love the site!
Running:
- VS 2008
- Sharepoint 3.0
- Access 2007
- Windows Vista (The machine I'm developing it from)
History: (Do excuse me if I don't reference different methods I've taken so far correctly, I'm still learning!) I am building some search software for a law firm that I work for in Australia. It's all coming along really well, but I seem to have hit a snag getting data out of sharepoint lists and into my project!
I first attempted to add a web reference to sharepoint and after a while was able to pull in all of the data from the lists, fantastic!(OR NOT!). The issue then was when I attempted to load it up into an array using XMLNodes, whilst it loaded up fine and I could see all the data, if there was a null value in one of the columns, it wouldn't pull that null value across, therefore, I couldn't really use the data...

I need to Update Access Database Table with Data from a Different Table. Not all the rows of original Table to be Updated will be affected. How do you loop through the 2 Tables to do the required Update.
The Table to be updated is called "RecordList" and Table with new Data is called "RecListReport".Every attempt I've made won't work. I tried to Use 2 Datagridviews but couldn't get it to work right.

I've created a Point of Sale program using Access and VB.net. I have an Inventory table from which items are sold. There is a quantity column and I want to be able to reduce the quantity for any item by the quantity that was sold in the point of sale front end. For example, there are 5 bracelets in inventory and 1 is sold. The quantity is typed into a textbox. The inventory quantity should now be 4 in Access. I don't know how to make this happen from the point of sale screen.

I have looked all over for a solution to this problem and have tried a bunch of different things, but nothing seems to work.I have a sub procedure that does the following:
1) adds two columns to a data table (table1)
2) fills a dataset with several tables in order to make calculations (this determines the data that will be stored in the two new columns of table1)
3) updates ONLY table1, and ONLY the two columns that have just been added (these columns are thus empty for every row before the update begins)
As it is now, the da.Update takes about 3 hours to populate the entire table (it updates about 300 records per MINUTE if I'm lucky). There are approximately 40000 records in table1 for this test subset, but there will eventually be up to 1.5-2 million (in other words, this is a small table currently). I have tried using executenonquery() along with a sql UPDATE command instead of da.Update, as well as many other things, but none of them has improved performance at all. I've also tested it on two PCs, one running Vista and one XP, and there were no differences. I'm using Access 2003. I know Access is not ideal, but for now it is the only option.
I know that the root of this is the line of code with the da.Update, because the giant loop before it that I previously thought was causing the slowdown executes in 30 seconds, leaving only the update before the subroutine is complete. I don't know how exactly the da.Update works, but I've suspected that maybe it has something to do with that? Code is below:

I familiar with how to populate information from an access table to textboxes but not the other way around. I am familiar with the DataTable class.
I would appreciate any methods whatsoever on how to do this with as much detail as possible since I am not an expert on database connections.

I have a table in Access with two key fields (let's call them Item and Cust). These key fields *combined* are the primary key. So each record must have a unique Item and User combination. It can have a duplicate Item with other records, and a duplicate Cust with other records, but not a duplicate of both. Because my "primary key" is a combination of two fields, I can't make a primary key on the table in Access (it only supports one field as a primary key).
I have another table in SQLServer which also has Item and Cust, but in addition, is has several descriptive fields that give more details about the Item and Cust. I'm trying to use ADO.NET to bring in that SQL Server table and UPDATE some matching fields in Access with the descriptive fields. [Code]
