Install Excel 12 Object Library In The Development Computer Without Installing Excel 2007?
May 12, 2009I am using VS .net 2003 and developing a program that calls Excel. The development computer only has Excel 2003, and the target machine only has Excel 2007. Would it be possible to install Excel 12 Object Library in the development computer without installing Excel 2007?

Operation must use an updateable query. I'm using System.Data.OleDb with a connection string like this:

I have tried setting ReadOnly=false but that gives Could not find installable ISAM. I have also tried setting Mode=ReadWrite and IMEX=1 which didn't seem to have any effect. My update command is like this:

where sheetName was obtained from querying the excel schema. Is it possible to do what I am trying to?
Textbox Text Property Won't Update Programmatically After First Time Running Through A Method (but Will Thereafter)?
Jul 28, 2009This is my first post on this forum, so please excuse me if I'm posting wrong. Anyway, I've been having an issue that I've never seen before and is driving me nut, I have a windows form on which I have placed many textboxes that display information from a MS SQL database. The user can then change these values and hit a "save" button which writes the changes to the database. I also have certain textboxes that with the "on leave" event (after a user enters a possible new value) trigger a method that recalculates some of the other fields based on the new information. Hopefully that all makes sense.
So the problem is, when I run through this "recalc" method the first time around, it doesn't update those textboxes that it's supposed to. However, when I put a breakpoint in and debug through it, the debugger shows it putting in the correct values into the textboxes. It's just as soon as the method is done, it puts them back to blank, or whatever they were before

Dec 5, 2006I am faced with the prospect of having to completely rewrite the application.I have suddenly started to get this error message all the time - it seemed to start after I added a table to the schema, but deleting the table makes no difference. I can't see anything wrong with the connection string, but as it seems to be entirely undocumented, that doesn't mean much.
The connection string contains DataSource=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory| est.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=Trueand certainly the string works when I use "test connection" from the application setting edit box. I am assuming that for some reason it is not evaluating the Data Directory , but can't see any reason why it shouldn't. Any ideas gratefully received! What might be a clue though is that I can't get rid of the table I added. I have deleted it from the database, deleted it from designer and saved the file, but it just keeps reapearing! Even when it is not showing, there is still a
table adapter in the .xsd file. I am reluctant to start editing this manually because of the danger of screwing something else up - I did try but it caused an error somewhere else (VS helpfully didn't say where)

And find that if i add the object to a list and combobox and then make any change to the object property then it reflects in list and combobox.But after using the same process in real project the change does not reflect. how can i update object property placed in the combobox.for eg.Class X has property id and name created objX of type Class X and set id=1 and name='All' insert objX to combobox now, in the same form and in other function when i get objX from combobox and change name='None', then it does not reflect in combobox.

in case i need to make any changes to my database i don't want to enter the database and create new table or add new fields to existing table to my current database,i would like to do that throught visual studio 2010 programaticaly. something like an additional application where i will choose my database path and the application will upgrade the database with new tables or new fields .

Nov 13, 2009how I can use excel 2003 and excel 2007 on my application. I add a reference to Excel 12.0 Object but this one is not compatible with Excel 2007 and i think if i add Excel 11 Object it will not run on excel 2007.
Is there any solution that I can use so that my project can be used with either excel 2003 and 2007?

Jul 4, 2009I wrote a program that connected to a Microsoft Access 2000/2003 mdb file and accesses the data. It works fine, but I'm wondering if there is a way to connect to Access 2007? If I change my connection string, will my program work with access 2007 or is it more complicated then that? And if it will work, can someone provide an example of an Access 2007 database?

I tried, in a exception handling block, where I did a GetValue of the PropertyInfo object and then called SetValue by setting the same value back... but to my surprise it worked well and didn error out.

must use DAO to connect to the database so that you can expose the attachment field properties. When I try to open the DAO recordset I am getting "COM exception was unhandled by user code" with a message stating "Too few parameters. Expected 3".
