I have a List(Of SomeObject) that I enumerate over using a For Each loop. This SomeObject contains a Property that references another Object, as such

If not, what is a valid way to do it? (ordinary for loop perhaps?)
I have the following code,
PB.ForEach(Function(x) x.Cost = GetPartCost(x.PartNumber, x.Units, x.Cost, FB))
Return PB.Sum(Function(x) (x.Cost * x.Qty))
However it always returns 0. I've checked and the GetPartCost function executes and returns a non-zero number but the list item cost properties are never updated.The property is just a simple property,

If I set a breakpoint in the Set of the property, it never gets hit.
After reading all the examples for list of T exists and Find and find first, none show how to handle multi-property objects. Below is bare bones example maybe someone could flesh out to show how this should be done.

I am working on a project that uses lots of custom class objects.Before starting work on real project, I tested the object behaviour on a temporary project. And find that if i add the object to a list and combobox and then make any change to the object property then it reflects in list and combobox.But after using the same process in real project the change does not reflect. how can i update object property placed in the combobox.for eg.Class X has property id and name created objX of type Class X and set id=1 and name='All' insert objX to combobox now, in the same form and in other function when i get objX from combobox and change name='None', then it does not reflect in combobox.

I don't want iterate again inside .QuestionId = 12' to find.QuestionID = 14` again.

I'm having trouble with some Silverlight functionality. My goal is to get some data from the database and display it in my grid. Sounds simple, however, there are 7 columns that are always going to be there.
The rest of the columns depends on the account. There could be 2 (called Actions) associated with a certain account, compared to another account that could have 5, and the action names can be completely different.
I have successfully been able to return a list of all the possible actions for the given account, and then adding the columns to the grid in the code bihind(VB), and I can bind my data to the grid for all the columns that are already known. The way I store the item's actions, is a Property of type List. My problem is finding a way to iterate through the actions list of the Item object in order to bind those actions to the grid.

I have searched high and low for documentation on how to use this feature. While the loop I could write would be simple and take no time, I really would like to learn how to use this. Basically I have a class, say, Widget, with a Save() sub that returns nothing. So:

basically saves the widget. Now let's say I have a generic collection List(Of Widget) name widgetList(Of Widget) and I want to run a Save() on each item in that list. It says I can do a
widgetList.ForEach([enter Action(Of T) here])
....but how in the F does this work??? There is no documentation anywhere on the intrablags.

I have a custom list that inherits Generic.List and it has a method for deselecting all of the members named DeselectAll It has looked like this for a few weeks and has worked fine.

Today, it stopped working ?!? I reverted to an earlier version using delegates and that works fine...

Edit: Stopped Working meaning it no longer sets the property p.ModeEnvoiChoisi to Nothing on each item in the list. The DeselectAll method gets called, but all the items retain their previous values...

Limited to using v2.0 of .Net framework (we use VB.net) due to environmental constraints on our servers.I've got an ASP.net webpage which pulls data from a webservice that performs checks on user accounts in active directory. Operators can check multiple accounts at one time using the web interface. The webservice returns a list(of AccountCheck) objects which themselves contain single properties like username, email address, and List(of AccountError) objects which contain multiple properties.[code]What I want to do is using some kind of repeater, create multiple panels or divs which contain labels showing the username, email etc, and a gridview which has the accounterror list bound to it to show all the errors. I'm checking If a border's child property is not set to nothing or equal to a given element, but whenever I run the program, it says that it's set to nothing and crashes. Here's my code:
If Not Me.Child.Equals(Nothing) Then ...
If Me.Child.Equals(value) Then ...
Both gives an error. What should I do to pass these lines? Also in C# it would look like this:
if(this.Child != null) ...
if (this.Child != value) ...
But this time it doesn't give an error.

how to determine whether the property in question is a generic List(Of T)? If it is I need to loop the list itself.
I've experimented with GetType and TypeOf but have not managed to get anything working.
To clarify, I want to keep this generic. I do not want to specify the type of T, I need to loop the list items and call the ToString method on each item. T could be one of a number of different types (application specific reference types). Is it possible to do this without specifying types?

I think (?) this is about object design, and perhaps about structural and/or creational patterns. But a bit hard to say when I only know a couple of patterns yet.[code]But... what if we INSTEAD want each Product instance only to (in some way) refer to one instance of a specific list of Components. So we wan't to save the products list to one file, and the components list to another file. Then would I build the objects the same way, or different? So let's then say we have now Class B as below. 1. Will not need to update each component variable of the products list when the components list changes.
2. If the Product object shall be shown in a DataGridView, for editing properties, it seems easier to implement the selection of the component property.
Is this wrong approach? Is it suitable in some cases, and if so, when? Are there other solutions I perhaps am not aware of that would be appropriate? I have a List myList of MyObjects. Is it possible to check if myList contains a particular myObject based on a property of myObject in VB.NET? In C#, you'd something similar to this right:

I need to be able to add elements to a copy of mylist.testlist without modifying the global mylist object. (Which seems to be happening via the below code.)When I am working on x, which should be a totally separate object, mylist is getting modified as well. How can I fix this? I have worked with lists extensively and never seen this behavior before. I have tested and reproduced the problem in .NET 3.5 and .NET 4.0 on Win 7 Pro 32bit.
