I'm supposed to populate a multi-line textbox in one calculation, so that it looks like this:

Instead, I get:

I think the intYrs needs to go somewhere in the formula after all the TryParses.

im trying to make a fast food program on which the user will input the amount that he has, then he will check on what he wants, by using check boxes. There are 7 different check boxes with 7 different amounts of money. I have the program somewhat finished (thanks for the people that helped me before) but theres still a couple of things that I still need to get finished but I dont know how to.I need to be able to get how much money the user has (this will be entered threw a text box, I think I accidentally messed this part up, because I cant get it to work right, (theres alreasy a permit amount of money in there and it needs to be what the user enters instead of the permit, 5.59, one) and this will be the maximum amount he can spend, then the user will check on the food he wants (and the program will add the sales tax also) then it will produce an answer saying if you have enough money or if you dont. But what im confused on is how do I get the users amount of money and make it the maximum mount he can spend and make sure it doesnt go over the amount that he has checked.[code]

how can i breakdown the amount of money into available denominations. for example, i will input 7,542, the program will output how many thousands, hundreds and 1 coins are in the amount. im thinking the trimming functions of VB but no idea how to start.

I am having problems with creating this change problem. The idea is that the user puts the amount of money in the textbox and then in separate textboxes shows Dollars, Quarters, Dimes, Nickles and Pennies.
Example:
You Money: 12.54
Dollars: 12
Quarters: 2
Dimes: 0
Nickles: 0

i have a datagridview binded with the datatable via its datasource property....now i want to add the Amount column of the dgv and display the total amount in the textbox,if the amount is greater than a certain value then i want the cell to coloured red so i did this code and it worked great:

so if i say want to cruise 29 miles at 12 knts it gives me an awnser of 2 hours 24.6 mins instead of 2 hours 25. Although i do realise that 2 hrs 24.6 is technicaly right i was wondering if anyone here could help me with getting it into the correct format?

Updates are happening on the load of a dropdownbox This has something to do with autopostbacks and the page load I think, can someone please help When I click the add button even if I have selected an item in the listbox, it will always return an error message. I'm having troubles with terminating an application. When I close the main form everything disappears but the process remains active. I think I know the cause, a certain activeX component will not release properly. As soon as I create one, I can't close normally...

Probably a bug in that component, but the problem is that I don't have much of a choice, I'll have to use that component for now.

will kill the reference and now the application closes properly.

I've got my code to delete rows out of the database when the user clicks on the Delete button in my GridView, but the GridView isn't updating to reflect the new data changes.

EDIT 1:Did some stepping through the code and found that e.CommandArgument is not getting a value in grdQuestions_RowCommand
EDIT 1 (Revised):The fact that e.CommandArgument wasn't getting a value was my mistake. I'd changed the way it's value was being assigned without removing the previous method.The code runs through grdQuestions_RowCommand and then goes into grdQuestions_RowDeleting and then executes GetModuleData.I have a feeling that to view changes to the grid, a PostBack might be required, but I've removed all DataBinding to an If Not IsPostBack Then block because the alternative caused problems with the DropDownList whose selection is used as a reference to populate the grid (ddlModules selected the Module whose Questions will display in the grid).

I'm having this problem with a networked app in vb.net. If the program exits normally the port closes fine, however, if it crashes sometimes it remains open and I am unable to close it. The next time I run the program it is unable to open the port because it is already in use. Here's the exception: 10048: Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted on how I can reclaim this port, or how I can close it? I've added reference to Flash object. Then dragged AxMacromediaFlash to form. [renamed Flash1]. Even after setting Flash1.Movie="file.swf".
it doesn't start playing ! I tried, loadMovie,Play,MovieData etc etc.. nothing works. There's no error, no warning, nothing. That Flash object remains plain white. am not using try catch too. I'm on Vista Home Premium 32bit, Flash player 10, Flash ActiveX version 10. Tried re-installing player, activeX. its just not working! : any known issues am ignoring here? and same file works fine if I drag it in IE. and if I check Flash1's state, it shows playing.

I am using a toolstripDropdownbutton on the toolstrip to populate the
menuItems.The toolstrip is on the customtaskpane of the window.
Problem comes when the focus is on the customtaskpane, user opens a dropdown menu and without selecting any menu from the dropdown click on the other part of the window. The dropdown remains open and even the user switch to other window it remains open and does not hide. It only hide when user click on the dropdownbutton itself.
Note : I had set AutoClose property to Flase

my application will remain open after closing every form. This is a recent issue in previous versions my application would close. I call dispose(true) on all form closing/closed events. (some forms require it on closing instead of close because of some custom made classes.)?

I have had a lot of trouble trying to distribute my programs for money. The way they are set up, you type in one product key, and it is activated. Now you can do this for any amount of installations or computers. What I would like to be able to do is have it so they can only use a product key 5 times. For example, you would host a text file on a server like this:
" XOTS3-G4SIT-HJ58GS-HMG52J, 1, 5" where the random characters are the product key, 1 is the amount of times it has been used, and 5 is the maximum limit. Something tells me that this is going to tie in with ASP.NET somehow, which I have no experience in, so if we could stay away from that it would be great. Also, I am having lots of trouble hosting a website from my house, so if there is a way to host it on another server like ripway.com that would be good too. I know I am supposed to post a source, but I really just want to know how to read and write to a text file on another computer using vb.net. I could figure out the rest.

I have in Sql a money filed named value, and the data looks like this: 234.0000 .
I use this data trough a vb application, and so I store it in a double variable named dfValue, but I only get 234.0, even if I use: select round(value,2,1) and then Format (dfValue,"#.00").
