Return An Error Message When The User Selects An Invalid File Path?
Apr 17, 2012I'm using Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition. I have a Folder Dialog Browser added in my form and I call it when the user presses a button. The folder path string is stored in a string variable and displayed as text in a text box. (maybe I should use a combo box)
My question is: If the user inputs by hand a non existent path, how do I return an error message, stop the file creation into the invalid path, and return to my main form?

Apr 14, 2009I have a project that up until recently has been working fine. It sends an email message to a user once a file has been successfully uploaded, registered and/or approved to use the website. It is written in VB.NET framework 1.1, running ASP.NET on a Windows 2003 server SE sp2.

This has worked for over one or two years. Today I realized upon testing I get the following error:The procedure entry point IstrcmpiI could not be located in the dynamic link library MSDART.DLL.Upon some research I found that maybe I needed to install MDAC 2.8, which i downloaded and installed today, however i still get the same error. I have had my communications and network admins check traffic and connectivity to the smtp server and all is working fine. Yet I still get the error.

Add An SQL Database File Using VS 2005 Getting Error Message Saying Version Of Database Server Not Supported?
May 18, 2009I recently upgraded the MS SQL Server installed on my personal computer from 2005 Express to 2008 Express. Problem is when I try to add an SQL database file to a project using VS 2005 I get an error message saying that the version of my database server is not supported, I must have SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 or later installed. I didn't do it yet but I'm pretty sure that when I open the other projects that I included a database file to it, I'm going to get the same error.
My question is it possible to have two SQL Servers installed on my machine? If so, is it a good idea to have two DB servers in the same machine?

Nov 3, 2009I do have a control that inherits from UserControl.As you should know, I dont receive the WM_KEYDOWN message for the VK_LEFT, VK_RIGHT, VK_UP and VK_DOWN (Arrow keys). They are processed by window Proc as being a TAB key and not dispatch to the WinProc of the control. Instead, The control receive the message WM_GETDLGCODE.
In C, to get them, I use " return DLGC_WANTARROWS; " when I receive this message to get these virtual key and prevent Window Proc to move the focus to another control.However, VB does not let me used "Return" from Winproc, So, how can I get these arrow keys to be dispatch to the control.

Only servers up to Microsoft SQL 2005 are supported VB.NET" I am using VB.NET 2008 and attempting to connect to SQL Server 2008 with XP as the operating system. I have service pack 1 installed in Visual Studio but this error message presists. The articles I have read on this error said to install sp1 as a solution but I have done that and the error persists. FYI, the error does not occur when I am using code to connect to SQL Server but when I attempt to connect using one of the designer wizards this error occure.

Using A Web Browser To Send A Gmail Message And Have A Home Pc Return A Email In Response
Apr 6, 2012ok here is my problem, im making a little app for school since our school blocks pretty much everything so here is my plan a student makes 2 gmail accounts one for school one at home.
in the program at school (client) they put a site request into a textbox and they hit send, the request is then sent to the home pc gmail account and another app on the other side downloads the full site that they have requested and then sends them an email back with an attachment of the complete website, it is then opened in a browser and they have the site, simple idea and it would be easy except.
my school blocks the smtp protocols in vb, even outlook cant use gmail accounts only the schools registered email, however, you can access gmail on the internet without any blockages and you can send and recieve on the gmail website.so how can i use a webbrowser control to log the user into there gmail account through a custom gui, and send a string like www.facebook.com to the home pc gmail account, and then use the web browser controll on the students laptop to recieve the response email through a web browser, is there some kind of gmail api i can use?

Sep 1, 2011I know it's possible in asp.net to create a custom error page in a web app, by putting the following line in the web.config: <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="frmErrorPage.aspx" />
I have had to do this for my web app, since it is clearly much tidier than letting the program bomb out with it's ugly default error page. My custom error page just has the customer's logo and a brief message saying "Error has occurred. Please return to homepage"The trouble now is that I have no way of knowing what caused the error, when a customer reports it.
Is there a way to make the actual error message appear on this custom error page too?

The user performs an action on an asp.net page, that page then processes data on another aspx page. The second aspx page is where the message box code is to be displayed.The box is displayed on my local machine, and another developers local machine. But the dev server does not display it. Nothing in the error log either.

The stored procedure is supposed to take an input value, match that value against one column in the table and then return the corresponding value from the other column; except it doesnt.It returns 1 or 0

Aug 9, 2011I'm using Visual Studio Development Server (Visual Basic 2010) and it works fine. Now I've enabled NTLM Authorization because I want to test the website using a different user account. Now when I try to access the website I always get the following error page:
Server Error in '/' Application.
HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden.
Version Information: ASP.NET Development Server 10.0.0.0 .I'm using a test account which is a normal user within our domain. I've already set the access rights in my project folder to Full Access for this user but it does not help.
