The program has errorhandle and write log function, however, it could not catch the error message in the program.
The following error message in Event Viewer. Error Module: oleaut32.dll ,version 5.1.2600.5512, error code: 0x000048f9
Whenever I have an error, the program doesn't crash. It just stop executing code. The error message goes to the debug window (which I can't see until I end the program). If I have a button for example I can still click this and execute the code inside it.
I never thought I'd be asking this, but how do I make my programs crash again?
I have created a vb.net program and released it to the customer. They are running the exe and at times the program crashes unexpectedly and display the message: "... has encountered a problem and needs to close" I know I should have added code to handle the exception, but is there a way that I can find out which line in the program caused the error? What is generally as good way to track errors in a program after it has been released?
View 1 RepliesI am really confused! My program doesn't work if I don't have Visual Studio here in my PC. To test it I have uninstalled Visual Studio. But my program doesn't work though Flash Player is present there (I have used Flash animation in the first form).
To be more sure about it I have installed Flash. But it's not working! That means the Flash animation file (.swf) is not making a problem! It needs support from Visual Studio to start. Doesn't it mean that some files are not attached with a setup file as a result it needs Visual Studio to run? Let me tell you how I create a setup file of my program.

View 1 RepliesWhen I do the try/catch method in my vb.net project I will try the code I want and when it can't do it, i make a message box right after the catch method. The thing is that it will show the message box, and then another message from the program itself. Like for example, I have here a MySQLException, and when i click ok on the message box, it will show another one right after showing the exception itself. How would I be able to get rid of this so the user doesn't have to see this, and the program can continue.
View 2 RepliesI am working on a project in Visual Basic .NET 2010 on Windows 7 SP1 that previously ran fine in Windows XP SP3 but has recently started crashing immediately upon running the executable. I have made several additions/changes since the last time it was tested on XP, so it is difficult to pinpoint what might be the problem. (I commented out all of the start form's _Load event, which causes the form to load with no events triggered in the IDE, but the program still crashes in XP, so I suspect it's something other than my code, though I don't know what else could have changed to trigger it.)

I realize the program as of now has no output, and that's fine. I have an ofdOpenDialog that I didn't include in this post as it seems kind of irrelevant, that part works fine, browse button to a path, outputs the path in a textbox for the users reference. I have the only user-entered text box set to on change: [code]But when I do this, the program just instantly stops responding. Is that a problem with my code or is the text file it's reading too big? ( Roughly 3-4000 lines.) I read somethign about a buffer once, should I set that larger somehow?

View 5 RepliesI got a serious problem. Though I have made my program newly it shows error. I have used 1280,1024 animation only for first form then used 1280,1024 image for every form. Today I was checking then it was showing me error message for 19th & 20th form. If I use On Error Resume Next then it shows error for another form ; if I use same code there in the menu item I mean so that I can get rid of error when I click to show a form it shows another error. First error message is "InvalidOperationException was unhandeled An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is parameter is not valid." and second error is "OutofMemoryException was unhandled Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown". I have noticed it that it doesnt show error message for those form which have few labels and text boxes. It shows error message for those forms which have 1 menu bar, 2 picture boxes(one is 1280,1024 & another is 250,456), 2 group boxes, 40 labels, 3 combo boxes, 38 text boxes & three buttons. Please help me I need to get rid of this problem. Does it mean that I cant use unlimited control there in my form?

I don't think it is night time that is the problem, just the long run time. I take bitmaps and place text on them then convert them to icons so that the image can be used on the system tray.

I've been working on a multi-form app for some time now, all of a sudden, I'm not able to run my app while debugging. I don't get any errors, but the forms don't load when I start debugging.
