Does the .Count mean there are multiple lines in .Message? If not, what is the .Count used for?

I was working on my project (creating a new form), and when I switched from the code view back to the designer view, I got the following error:

I'm making a simple decoder. Type a message in the "message" text box and it spits out a code in the "code" text box. If you pop a code into the "code" text box it spits out the message in the "message" text box. Seems simple, right? Well here's my problem. I typed "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" to test it and it will put a lowercase "f" at the beginning, put letters that aren't supposed to be in there in there, and replace what should be upper case letters with lower case. I commented out the code for replacing symbols because it seemed to work fine before I put them in the code but still the same result. I checked over the code to see if I mixed stuff up. Like I accidentally put the replacement for a lower case "e" as the replacement for a lower case "h" but I can't find anything.

I have had to do this for my web app, since it is clearly much tidier than letting the program bomb out with it's ugly default error page. My custom error page just has the customer's logo and a brief message saying "Error has occurred. Please return to homepage"The trouble now is that I have no way of knowing what caused the error, when a customer reports it.
Is there a way to make the actual error message appear on this custom error page too?

When I create a new project, the Form Designer will work, but after I save it and close the IDE and reopen the next day the Form Designer no longer shows the form and instead says "To prevent possible data loss before loading the designer, the following errors must be resolved: An Error occurred while parsing EntityName.Line 2, position 62" If I click ignore and continue, then it just displays a blank form with no controls.
