I was working on my project (creating a new form), and when I switched from the code view back to the designer view, I got the following error:
The designer cannot process the code at line 118: Me.VDARSQLDATASET = New Veterinary_Digital_Anesthesia_Records.VDARSQLDATASET() The code within the method 'InitializeComponent' is generated by the designer and should not be manually modified. Please remove any changes and try opening the designer again.I am now getting this error on every page. This project has been working for months just fine, but for some reason the VDARSQLDATASET has dissapeared- kind of. I can still access the dataset (the file is still there), I just can't reference it in the code (intellisense can't find it).

I'm creating a GroupBox at runtime and setting its Text property. Usually, the text is only on one line, but sometimes it wraps. The problem is that the controls contained in the GroupBox cover up the GroupBox's text.
What I'd like to do is determine if and when the text wraps. Specifically, I'd like to determine how much extra height the wrapped text takes up as compared to a single line. That way, I can reposition the GroupBox's controls and adjust its height.
Initially, I thought I'd do this by calling the GroupBox's CreateGraphics() method, and using the Graphics to measure the string. Something like this:
[Code]...
The problem is that the size generated by g.MeasureString(text, grp.Font) doesn't seem to be accurate. I determined that it wasn't accurate by putting enough of a single character to cause a wrap, then measuring the resulting string.
For example, it took 86 pipes (|) to until a wrap happened. When I measured that string, its width was ~253. And it took 16 capital W's to force a wrap - its string had a width of ~164. These were the two extremes that I tested. My GroupBox's width was 189. (a's took 29 and had a width of ~180, O's took 22 and had a width of ~189)

I have written a windows service that is meant to launch a notepad when a specific action happens. The problem i have is that even though the service launches notepad, the actual notepad it self is NOT visible. I know that it has been launced because i can see the process in the task manager. By the way the process is listed as a SYSTEM process rather than a process under my user name (i believe that is because my process is a "LocalSystem" one).

I need some assistance again. In my previous posts, I asked about a good book to start learning how to us VB 2008.I had numerous replies, so I thought starting with Visual Basic 2008 would be a great start. As I am reading the book everything had mad sense up to Chapter 4. It's a simply program, and I thought I understood everything, until the middle of the chapter. So here's where I need help, and someone to explain my error. The author explains to place a Label & DateTimePicker onto the form, which I did. I renamed the label to NextWeek and DateTimePicker1 to DateChooser.Furthermore, I proceed to double click on DateChooser, which VB provides certain code automatically.[code]
After a few pages of reading, the author stated to put the following code under
Inherits class definition.[code]I went on and put the remainder of the code, which similar to the following:[code]The designer cannot process the code at line 51:Me. AutoScale Dimensions = New System.Drawing.SizseF(6.0!,13.0!)The code within the method 'Initilze Components' is generated by the designer and should not be manually modified. Please remove any changes and try opening the designer again.

OK, in it's simpest terms, I have a custom object (all string Items) which I add to a list of those items. The list is declared as a global variable. One form updates the list, another contains a dataGridView (vs.net 3.5) that displays the list items. The view displays the correct data. For some reason, if I select a header in the dgv before it's populated, that's fine, but if I select it (click anywhere with the mouse) it bugs out with an Index = -1 error from the System.Windows.Forms. CurrencyManager.get_Item(Int32 index) bit.

The Form Designer in the IDE is no longer working properly. When I create a new project, the Form Designer will work, but after I save it and close the IDE and reopen the next day the Form Designer no longer shows the form and instead says "To prevent possible data loss before loading the designer, the following errors must be resolved: An Error occurred while parsing EntityName.Line 2, position 62" If I click ignore and continue, then it just displays a blank form with no controls. The problem appears to have started after I unistalled and reinstalled VB2008 Express.

I've just started learning VB.NET with VS 9.0; a small application I'm working on keeps returning an "A first chance exception of type System InvalidOperationException occurred in System Windows Forms dll" error from the Immediate Window. The application has almost zero functionality so far, it consists of a menu strip with:
File About
|Open
|Save
|Save As
|Quit
The only code I have written opens an Open File dialog, a Save As dialog, an About window with background sound and an OK button, and the Quit button which exits.
Since there is almost no code for me to search through, I can't understand why there would be an error. The program runs just fine when I'm debugging it too.
