I want to go to a class.vb file that has a function from an aspx page and I want to return mutiple arrays. Is that possible? If so, how would I call it from the aspx page and how would I return it?
Expected Results: A scalar result of the comparison between Array1 and Array2 such that when Array1>Array2 it is true. See expected array above. Actual Results: When Result(x) is true, all elements become Array1(x) and Array2(x) .What is wrong with the function?
I modified a function that returns a strongly typed Ilist of products (from a web search form) from a stored procedure. Because of the complexity of the stored procedure I have changed it to return productcategories as well using the product results. I can get this into another strongly typed ilist but for the life of me I cannot return the two ilists.
Unfotunatley I ran out of talent, after reading hundreds of posts, It seems it's possible with linq, but I would rather not go that way as I have even less knowledge there. Is it possible put the ilists into a collection of some sort and return them for use as ilists?
So you know how PHP internal functions usually return a boolean FALSE when a function fails, or some other data type when the function succeeds? Is this possible in VB .Net?For instance, lets say this simple code here Public Function TrySomething(ByVal Param As String) \what would go here??
[Code]...
You see I want to return a BOOLEAN false when a function fails, and a string when the function works. I've looked everywhere, and when I search for "return multiple types" all i find is Tuple.
Is it possible to make a function that returns both a datatable AND a list(of custom class) at the same?In my GUI layer, the main form (the application is MDI) calls this function and it has to fill the datagrid on one of its child forms and it also has to fill lot of other child forms with various information that is calculated from my custom class properties.Both the datatable and the class properties are created from the same external database and that's why I don't want to have two separate functions.
I have created a function that takes a Car Registation as its argument and I want it to return 3 values (Make, Model, Price and of course True).The code itself works fine (it returning each Individual value but can't find a way to get ALL of them from 1 function) However I need to actually return all 3 values, and I cannot see how to do this with a simple function.
This is a school project, supposed to be a beggining VB.Net class. I'm having difficulty with one section, sorting the array is OK but I need to only return a 3 of it. I had it working when I was selecting single files but when I went to selecting multiple files at once the formula stopped working for me. I'm retuning the array just fine but the select a 3rd seems to just pass by without being acted upon. I've been working on this a long time and don't know where to look for an answer. Here is what I have for the sort method;
Private Sub sort() Dim Count As Integer Dim count2 As Integer
I am attempting to fill a form with multiple rows from an access table based off of a parameterized query. My query works fine but I don't want to return one row at a time, I want to return all rows that match my query in multiple text boxes. I know that I can use a datagrid view to accomplish this, but I would prefer the look of a textboxes on a form. I have read through many books and searched the internet forums but think I may just not know what to search for as nothing has worked yet. Can anyone point me in the right direction. So far I have tried setting the text box value to the row().item(), creating a different dataset for each row, and even setting variables for the results of the query to then be passed to the text boxes. Since none of this work, I don't really have any starting code to post. If I could just get a starting point I could work from there, so don't feel the need to code anything for me, just set me in the right direction.
Just so it's known, this question is mostly academic, even though I tried to use the concept in a real-world solution. I realize the example is contrived, but I believe the concept is valid.I want to write some fluent code like this:
[code]...
I realize that I can't force an anonymous type into a specific type (like implementing an interface or some other class), and I don't want the overhead of defining a specific class just to match my desired fluent name with the actual method name. So I was able to make the code work like this:
copy(my_first_file).to.Invoke(my_second_file)So there is no IntelliSense or type awareness there, and I have to include the Invoke in order to have the method run. How can I get more type safety and exclude the Invoke method, under these constraints: Anonymous Type returned from Method No additional classes or interfaces Preferably, I do not want to pass in another parameter to the copy() method that tells what type to return, unless copy becomes a generic method (but I think that means defining another class/interface, which I don't want to do)
In this application I need to allow users to enter a month as integer (1-12) then use integer tryparse to validate that input, that seems to be the easy part. I need two create two functions, one that returns the name of the month and the other returns the number of days in that month. The arrays are supposed to be defined and initialized within the function so that the main program can take the user input and call the two functions, then return the appropriate values as output to labels. I am not sure how to declare the arrays in their appropriate functions and then how to call those functions to retrieve the right value from the function.
I have 2 arrays that are generated through a function as follows:
Dim alstCoordinatorID As ArrayList = g_alStripAllOneType(txtCoordinator.Text, "<CoordinatorID>", "</CoordinatorID>") For iCount = 0 To alstCoordinatorID.Count - 1
[Code]....
So basically theres a list box of co-ordinator IDs and a list box of the positions they are in. On another form there is a combo box with the list of ID's that is transferred from the list box on the processing form. I want to display the Position of the Co-ordinator when their ID is selected. How do I match the positions up so when an ID is selected in the combo box their position will appear?
I have an array of integers and I want to pass the array to a function that will add up the elements of the array and return the cumulative total of the elements of the array. So, if the array contains the values {1,2,3,4,5} the return value from the function would be 15.
I am getting records in my dataTable that have nullvalues and need to pass each of those through a function that gets the missing value. In this case my records are address's that are missing the "Latitude" and or "Longitude" Field
I need to be able to retrieve the values and place them in the missing column and row
Nulladdress Public Function GetNullAddress() As Address() Dim Addresss = (From row In dtsold.AsEnumerable() _ Where row.IsNull("Latitude") OrElse row.IsNull("Longitude") _
I had a question regarding the split function used in Visual Basic. As of now I have written a function that brings in a string value. The string value returned will probably look like this "List1;List2; Field1,Field2". My goal is to use the split function for this string to put all the lists in one array and to put the fields in another array.
The problem is between where List2 and Field1 are. I don't want Field1 to be placed in the list array. I'm thinking there might be a way to do this by parsing but I'm not sure. Here is my current code below.
Dim s As String = GetSetting("ReOrderList", properties.SiteId) Dim affectedLists() As String = s.Split(";") Dim affectedFields() As String = s.Split(",")
I'm currently working on a school project and I have stumbled upon various problems. I'm supposed to write a software tool based on a mathematical model.
In total, the model has 12 parameters and 2 constants used in it, so I figured it would be a good idea to store the parameters in 2 separate arrays - one containing 6 parameters which have to be entered by the user and another one with another 6 parameters which should only be changed in a settings kind of window for tweaking (they are set to default values provided by the model).[code]...
I am working on a project and I need to read information from a streamreader and put into an array and then use the split function to split the the lines read by the commas. Example: Texas, USA, 123 And I need to split the three into separate arrays and then swap Texas and USA to make it USA, Texas, 123. I am using VB.net language and line.split(",") is not working.
I'm new to this, so sorry if my question has been asked before. I have searched but have not been able to find, or perhaps recognise, an answer. I am using visual studio 2008 and creating an app in vb.net.
I have 4 arrays named:- account1 account2 account3 account4. They all have 4 elements.I want to assign values to the elements in the arrays in an efficient manner. I thought two for next loops would do it. [code]....
I have several parameters consisting of separate System.Byte() arrays. What I need is the syntax for a function declaration where the parameter is an array of arrays - I do not want to delve into System.Collections, and it's my preference not to CType each array into an Object and then back into a Byte().
Problem I'm having here is that:
Public Function MyFunc(arrayparam() As System.Byte) As System.Byte()
accepts a single-dimensional Array of individual Bytes.
Then Public Function MyFunc(arrayparam() As System.Byte()) As System.Byte()
trying to save users names and passwords from input boxes and save it as arrays in text file that in future multiple users will log in with their names and passwords have this code so far but doesnt realy save the user info to file, dont even create file.
Imports System.IO Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
I'm trying to find out a way to search multiple arrays for a specific value. I looked through here, yahoo, google and msdn and couldn't find anything specific to what I'm looking for. Don't have any sample code as I'm not quite sure where to start.
2)The program needs to access particular chunks(for example (0,20) to (50,20)
3)The program will open multiple files and process each into it's own 2D array (400,20)
What I have right now is code capable of creating the array, but no way to store the array so that I can open a new file and process that data into another large array. Someone mentioned the generics List(of T) might be a good way to store each new array as you could use the Add function. I have done some research on the List(of T) class but I'm not totally convinced that is the way to go. I'm just looking for some direction as I've just started on .net this year.
i'm having issues where I can't figure out how to take a text file that was provided for my homework assignment, and put the information within it into 3 different arrays.The .txt file looks like so:tc.Amanda/Ashley have to be in the same array as well as 4/2, 166/20.This is what I've come up with for the snippet of code, and so far, it hasn't really been working right.
Dim namearray(MaxItems), rankarray1990(MaxItems), rankarray2009(MaxItems) As String Dim Numitems As Integer Dim sr As System.IO.StreamReader
I have the following code... in an MDI application. [code] Various lines of code which put data into the Myinstance and then save the instance into the ArrayList.I have buttons which run procedures and functions in the formchild and also in the Class1. I need it so you can jump between formchild instances, and when you do so and click a button on that form, it will run the Class1 code but using the data in the arraylist and myinstance that was set previously by the selected formchild. Then if you switch to another child it uses data from this form. Can this be done by declaring the arraylist with more dimensions and then refer to the records with the index of the selected form instance, e.g.Selected Child is index(3)
I have created an MDIparent form and a MDIchild. There is a button on the parent which makes multiple 'clones' of the child form, each time its clicked.I also want (maybe with a module) a set of variables, and array of a structure but these are available to each copy of the child, but each copy's variables, arraylist etc contain its own data?Therefore if you select child1 the variables and array will have different data to child2, child3...etc...
