Module Module1 Public Structure structure1 Public TRANS() As structure2 End Structure Public Structure structure2 Public X() As Integer End Structure End Module
I am trying to return a structure from a class.vb file to an aspx page. Is this possible, if so how would you do it in the aspx page and the class.vb file?
I want my function to return a value of a structure. The function is supposed to change the values and then return the answers in one structured value. Here is my code... as you can see it does not work... it needs a LOT of things. I placed question marks were i am really lost.
I am trying to do a simple program where I have a public structure and public function in a code file, the problem is I want to return two integers. Here is the code from my code file.
I have a windows app that references a web service I created. In the web service, I created a function that needed to return more than one value. Because of this, I created a public structure in the web service: Public Structure MyRecordSet Public lstOfDataInRecord As List(Of String) Public iNumberOfRecords As Integer End Structure
Here's the function - the return value is MyNewRecordSet: Dim MyNewRecordSet As MyRecordSet <WebMethod()> _ Public Function GetDataReturnList(ByVal sql As String, ByVal sTableName As String) As MyRecordSet MyNewRecordSet.lstOfDataInRecord = New List(Of String) [Code] ..... Anyway, I see it's a conversion issue, but not sure how to resolve it. This is my first attempt to use a public structure in a web service and receive a return on it from my app.
I have problems with array of structures.my structures are like this
structure order xxxxxxxxxxx yyyyyyyyyy zzzzzzzzzzz end structure
and then I created many array of structures, like this private arrayorder (100) as order
now i need to sort the entire xxxxxx member of the array of the structure with a function, but I dont want to use loops with arrays indexes to access the information. I want to know if there is another method to reference the array and the member of the structure to get the data.
Is it okay for a structure variable to hold a small number of reference types? I thinks it's fine because the pointers themselves are not that big, regardless of what they're pointing to. But I never did fully figure out the whole heap/stack thing, so I'd like to make sure.
I have a serializable class and structure I created for an ArrayList to be access within a Web Application. The problem I am having is the count comes back as zero after calling New. I debugged the code and the Arrylist is being populated
In VB.NET, let's assume I have the following Structure:
Public Structure Product Public ItemNo As Int32 Public Description As String[code].....
How would I define a LINQ Query to Sum all of the Product.Cost values in the List? In other words, what would be the LINQ Query in VB.NET to return the value 120.90, which reflects the sum of all three Product Cost values in a single LINQ Query?
I epochly failed creating an array structure. How would I build it like I tried to do with values for each data type.
Structure PovertyGuidelines Dim Id As Decimal Dim NumberOfPersons As Decimal Dim AnnualIncome As Decimal End Structure Private Data(20) As PovertyGuidelines Private Id(,) As Decimal = {{1D, 2D, 3D}} Private NumberOfPersons(,) As Decimal = {{6D, 9D, 7D}} Private AnnualIncome(,) As Decimal = {{24000D, 32000D, 27000D}}
I have a user defined structure in a list that I am trying to change the value for in an individual element within the list of structures. Accessing the element is not a problem. However, the compiler complains
"Expression is a value and therefore cannot be the target of the assignment"when I try to update the value. For example:
Public Structure Person Dim first as String Dim last as String Dim age as Integer
I have created two structures, one named "Product" and the other named "Item". These structures are quite similar but are at the same time quite different from each other. The structure definitions are as follows. Ultimately, I declare arrays in my containing class which access these structures as a type. Their declaration: "Products() as Product" and "Items() as Item". All has been fine and dandy until one day, I go to change the items Enabled() values, and something happens. Not only does it change the Items(index).Enabled(index) value, it does it on the corresponding Products(index).Enabled(index) value, even though it was never specified to do so. Also, nowhere in my coding have i defined this sort of thing to occur. It is rediculous, because I watch it happen. I turn on the watch window, and debug one step at a time, and every time, I watch the Item line step, I look down at the arrays of products and items, and both values have changed. How do I get this to stop, and only change the Item.Enable value??
<Serializable()> _ Public Structure Product Public Name As String
In a public module (codefile) I defined a data structure called db_connection,then declared a variable of that type like so: Public db_con as db_connection I pass db_con to a sub. I expected the db_con structure to be populated with values after the call to the sub. It does not. This is something I have done for years in vb6.What might have changed to prevent this from working?
I have a class (using a class rather than a structure only because I can set a default field value for the fields I declare in the class) and I'm using a web service that returns information (demographic information) in JSON. I am using LINQ to get the values of each "entry" from the returned list and in that, I have to parse through and pull out the actual data that I want. Here's how I have it doing right now (just a start, there are 44 of them total, thus my question which will follow the code):
Dim returnedStats = From ljo As Linq.JObject In returnedObject.SelectToken("results") ' ' For Each stat As Linq.JObject In returnedStats
I'm working with a class that inherits the XElement class. The new class is called MXElement. It adds some new functionality to it for navigating through the XML tree, as well as some more information regarding attributes, but that's not particularly important. My problem is that I have an XML Tree filled with XElement objects. However, when I create a new MXElement object from the XElement object before, it is just a copy of that object. This means that any changes that I make to this object will not effect the original tree.I suppose what I'm asking for is a way to build in the functionality for my MXElement class and keep references to the original XElement objects. If possible, I would really prefer to keep MXElement a child class instead of building a lot of extension methods for XElement.
i want to get two output values in one Function is't possible ?i am just using String data type and split the values.but have any other easy way to get two output values actually i want to checking a folder how many jpg files are Horizontal and vertical [code]finally i split the values with "|" character.have any other options to get two values as separate in one functions.i have no moew idea about Dictionary,
If a use the NPV() function in Excel (2010) with a discount rate of 5% and 10 cells that each contain 505,000 the resulting NPV function call "=NPV(5%,C2:C11)" returns the value of 3,899,496.
If I use the Financial.NPV() method in the Microsoft.VisualBasic namespace (in my C# application) and pass in a discount rate of 5% (as a double) and an array of 10 doubles with a value of 505,000 each, the VB function returns the much lower value of 100,999.99 (plus a few more decimals).
When I do a Request.Querystring("key1") Request.Querystring("key2")
The system doesn't seem to parse the second ?/value out but treats it as if key1 was all one string, e.g. [URL] ...as if it completely ignores or doesn't parse out the second (or other if more) key/value pairs.
Need to return the greater of 3 values. Each value is based on user input and system calculations. Requirement = the greater of (Req1, Req2, Req3) Have tried a number of "If" "Else" and Ifs within Ifs "<" and ">" combinations without consistant results. This may seem simple to some but I am relatively new to VB. My search on MSDN was not fruitful.
[size="5"]How can I return two values from the same function?? I need to return an arraylist and an integer...the arraylist is already returning now i need to add the integer
I am using asp.net with vb for my scripts.I want to use an array of a Structure to store data parsed from an xml file.[code]All appears to work fine until I add the code that is in bold, I then get the Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
ok here is the thing, in my application there is 2 forms, in the main one (not an MDI)it has some textboxes and a picture box, the other small form contains only a ser enters his search criteria in the textboxes in the main formand presses a button to show the results,t opens the second form and displays the results inthe listview(results are names of pictures).
What I need to do is to have my program look at 2 different values then return a value.
Here's an example:
If my tube material = SA-214 and the tube gauge = 20 then my tube wall thickness = .032. The thing is I have 5 different types of tube material and 12 different tube gauges so based on which tube material is selected and which tube gauge is selected the tube wall thickness will vary. So if I select a TM of SA214 and a TG of 14 then my tube wall will be .076.
