I am using richtextbox in vb.net , which contains the value "секция", which is russian word.rtf1.selectedrtf and rtf.rtf, it returns /Un representation of characters. Is there any way or option in rtf to return the value in uXXXX format?.

I have project that communicates with an embedded device via Telnet and displays the data string in a RichTextbox. Here is the (weird) problem: every time I send a command, the device responds, at the end of the response there is a prompt on a NEW LINE. However, when I ASCII encode the bytes received and display the string, the prompt is on the same line as the response in the text box. So I looked at the bytes for several different commands and the response always starts with a 13,10,13 which is CR, LF, CR, that puts the response on a new line, also displayed on a new line in the text box.
However, at the end of the response, there is always a 13,13,10 (CR,CR,LF) followed by the prompt, but in the text box the prompt is NOT on a new line it is merely a couple of spaces after the response. The funny thing is that this behavior is absolutely not present in Hyper Terminal, or Tera Term applications, when I connect to the device using Tera Term, the prompt is always on a new line. Even the VS IDE shows this correctly in the Output window, every prompt is on a new line. I can not for the life of me figure out why this behaves differently in my RichTextbox. I have experimented with different settings for the textbox, but so far nothing worked.

Format function until today when I got a value longer than 0 characters and the function returned all the characters in the string instead of just ten. Now sometimes I get less than ten characters so I can't use the substring with out getting an error. I can try the left function but I was hoping there was a solution with the Format function.

This is what I have been doing so far:

I am reading text from a file (*.TXT) 1 line at a time using streamreader. As I read that input, I am looking for specific starting and ending character strings ("<" and ">") . When I find those strings, I would like to select the characters between those string and have it set to BOLD and BLUE before appending that input line to the contents of a richtextbox.The only way I have found to do this is to first append the input line to the richtextbox then use the richtextbox.selection (color and font) methods to change the text.

I'm able to save and load to file by using a filestream and textrange but I'm having trouble figuring out how (and finding online samples) of how to go to and from a db. I've also tried using the .text property of the RTB but here i see the raw xaml text; the rtb didn't render the xaml.

the combo box style 1 has both the drop down option but also a manual entry option. I need to know how to code it so that when you manually enter data, it takes that data and places it in a text message "The shipping charges for "data" is $15" displaying in a text box. 1. I have read that keeping Option strict on and Option infer off is good practice and will insure your code is tight and properly written. I would like input regarding this, pro's and con's from those who are in the know.
2. Having said that, I have set Option strict on and Option infer off in an existing program I wrote (that was working perfectly mind you) with them off and on respectively. I went through and cleaned up all the errors on the 'need AS' and casting of variables, but one is leaving me a bit put out.[code]

I want to build it under option strict on first before I do anything else -- which maybe converting it into C#. I found there's thousands of lines of code raises compilation error, mostly are about implicit type casts. Is there any tool would help to make it compile under option strict on mode if I don't want to correct every single line manually? Because it's really painful to add CStr/CInt invocation into every line of Code myself.
