Runtime '429' ActiveX Cannon Create Object Error, Calling .NET From MSO On Vista

Oct 9, 2009

Our VB.NET application has a .NET dll, with a registered TLB file; so that VBA in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel can call into the application. The application functions correctly except when it is called into via MSO on Vista. This functions correctly on Windows XP machines but on Windows Vista and Windows 7 machines it is returning a 429 error. A reference to the TLB file can be assigned in the VBA References dialog box, on Vista. It doesn't appear to be a problem in our application as a simple Test libary does the same thing. Microsoft Applications have been 'Run As' Adminstrator, and Vista UAC is turned off, but I am thinking there is perhaps a security issue?

Run-time Error '429': ActiveX Component Can't Create Object

Sep 6, 2007

I am getting a run-time error within my VB app:

Run-time error '429': ActiveX component can't create object

I have run this application under WinXP and previous Windows operating system fine, but when I installed my application on Windows Vista I get the above error at run-time.

how I could resolve this error as I believe it is not a programming error as the app works on other Windows OS's fine. Could it be something to do with registering dll's etc.

.net - Runtime Error 424 Object Required?

I get this error in this code:

Private Sub Request_Stuff_button_Click()

Call My_Control.requestStuff
End Sub

at the 'Call My_Control.requestStuff' line. The 'Main' module looks like this:Public My_Control As ControlObject

right before the line that gets me the error, x gets the correct value right before the error happens which means My_Control is definitely an object and is definitely not nothing.

.net - Create A Variable Of An Instance Object Of A Class At Runtime?

Sep 29, 2011

I am trying to create new variables inside a class after creating its object at runtime. The problem is that I don't know the variable names or the value beforehand so I have to create the new variables at runtime.

[Code]...

This is a more elaborate explanation of my code. If you observe that in the Eval function I have tried to evaluate Fval(abc). Now the object array abc is not declared in the Test class because it existence is not known beforehand. What I want to do is create an object array abc of length 2 and populate it with some values and when Fval(abc) is called then then the value of index 1 should be the return value of Eval fucntion.

ActiveX Control (.ocx) Behavior At Runtime?

Dec 31, 2009

I am developing an application in Visual Basic under Visual Studio 2008 Professional. As part of this application I am using a third-party ActiveX control (.ocx file). After building the installer (.msi file) using the deployment tools in Visual Studio, I tested it on a clean system. The install appeared to run successfully--folders are created, files are copied, and the .ocx is registered. However, when I tried to run the application I received an error telling me "You must have a license to use this ActiveX control." This would be expected on the development machine, but should not happen on the client system, i.e., in the runtime environment.

On previous builds of the application, I did not receive this error. Besides updates to the application itself (the part I created, that is), I was using NSIS to create the installer, rather than the tools in Visual Studio. The application cannot run without the .ocx in question, so this error is a show-stopper.

Vista - Missing VB Runtime DLLs?

Apr 7, 2011

When trying to install a program I keep getting the following error:"I'm sorry. your system seems to be missing the Microsoft VB runtime DLLs to install this game. Click OK to go download them. Once they are installed restart the installation".When I click OK - I am taken to a Dairy Queen website. Is this an issue with the software (which I used under Windows XP with no problems) or do I have to search for the missing files? I installed VB 6 but still get this error.
