I need to know when a SD Card is inserted into the computer. I am using VB.net 2005. I have a way to see USB device arrivals and if an SD card is in the adapter read/write data as required but if I insert or remove the SD card from the adapter I do not get any notices of changes.
View 4 RepliesI am trying to use the eID SDK (for using the belgian ID-card) in VB. It's supported but I can't get it to work. I have never worked with sdk's before. I did manage to get it to work in c++ in console but I really need it in visual basic. Also the VB examples that come with the sdk are made in an older version of visual studio and when my version tries to convert them they don't work. I want to use the sdk to see when a card is inserted into the reader and to read out the data. (both i got to work in c++ console).

View 7 RepliesI have built a USB interface card which transmits a binary value to the computer dependant on which inputs are active. For example, if inputs 1 & 2 are on, the output will be 3, likewise if inputs 1 & 3 are on, the output will be 5.My problem comes as I wish to get the binary integer into a format whereby I could have 16 checkboxes (one for each input), and 'check' the ones to which the inputs are on. For example, if inputs 1 & 2 are on, then checkboxes 1 & 2 will be selected, likewise if inputs 1 & 3 are on, then checkboxes 1 & 3 will be selected.The largest binary number that will be going to the computer is 65535.The only way I can think of doing this at present is to do the following a lot of times:

Is it possible to capture the raw signal from a WiFi card in the same way you can capture the signal from a sound card? (I already found code for working with a sound card and for drawing spectrograms) I'm wondering because it would make a cool radio-type project. I'd prefer a solution that integerates well with .net (VB or C#).My basic goal is to capture the ambient radio waves and build a primative "telescope" of sorts. Using the built in computer hardware is just the easiest way to accomplish this. If you have any other suggestions about how to accomplish this goal in a different way please post it as an answer also.

I am developing a computer application designed to monitor the network and CPU statistics on a computer remotely. The monitored computer would have my program installed and the monitoring computer would display, in a form, the information being sent from the remote client.The application does not send any information regarding packets, user names, passwords, etc. It is solely meant for monitoring CPU performance and Network resources remotely.
What would be the best method to send this information over to my host machine?I am programing in Visual Studio 2008 on windows XP. The client machine is also XP. I know this sounds a little shady, but it is required for my little business (http://www.iquorum.net) to monitor what and when something happens on our machines when I and my employees are away.

I am trying to check whether a row is getting inserted into my database. It is throwing an error even when it does insert (it's a database issue that will get resolved later when I get a newer version of Microsoft Access), so I can't check whether the insert is successful based on whether there's an error or not. I think I need to check the AffectedRows of something, but I'm not sure what. I've been looking for info on how to do this but I can't figure out how to make it work for my exact situation. But the numInserted is coming out as 0 every time even though the insert is successful. It may have to do with the fact that myIns1.ExecuteNonQuery() throws an error even though the insert is successful.
-EDIT- I discovered that the "duplicate values" error is because it is somehow attempting to insert the record twice. I have no idea why it's doing that though.
