I'm using Visual Studio 2010 and I have a Batch inserted into my project and cannot for the life of me get it to run with the program in someone elses computer after publish?

What i wouold like to know is how is the best way to get this project online for download?
I dont have a web site or web page, and this project is just a bit of fun (fitness test).
Could anyone tell me the steps I have to take? All i want from it, is to be able to place a series of screen shots explaining the project and then if someone should wish to download it they can.
I dont need prime time internet coverage, just a place to put it online, pref free. Plus, there have been many kind people from this forum who have given me thier free time and effort to help me with code issues, so if I am allowed and any one is curious i will post the site link to here and you can see where your effort has gone to, and should you wish provide positive and negative comments at your leasure.
I am new to VB and Visual Studio. Using VB 2010 express edition. I am making a VB project and from from inside that i want to be able to run a batch file that i already have.
My problem is i am not able to import this in my project. I tried adding it in the project from solution explorer but when i run the program its not able to find it. I am able to execute it when i copy that batch file somewhere on disk and then giving absolute path but not by including it inside my project.
I created a program and published it using the wizard through the "Property" in menu.
When I used the Published program to Install it in my same computer it got installed in "StartMenu".
I didn't get the option to select the Drive for Installing it like what we get when installing other program.
how to make that option to appear on installing the program?
Now I did a clean build, and tried to publish, and I get a lot of errors and warnings that I don't understand.

I need to know when a SD Card is inserted into the computer. I am using VB.net 2005. I have a way to see USB device arrivals and if an SD card is in the adapter read/write data as required but if I insert or remove the SD card from the adapter I do not get any notices of changes.

I have a batch file in a remote machine. I also have a vb.net application in some other machine. Now all i need is to execute the batch file of that remote machine from this vb.net application. One thing you must know is that the batch file cannot be executed unless and untill i log in to that remote machine and execute it.So all these while everytime I needed to run the batch file, I had to log in to that remote machine and then execute it.Now I want the same through the VB.net application.
View 1 RepliesI created a hangman game and It works well when I debug, but when I publish and place it on my son computer, when you guess a letter wrong it shows an error and says it can't find the images. I just it is something that I'm doing wrong but I don't know what. Some of the thing that I have tried is including the images in resources. I believe that it has something to do with the startup path, the path that the images are looking for does not exist. The installer installs the program in the programs file

But now I have finished other of my programs and I want to know can I somehow add it straight to wep site? I have now used suntuubi.com as own wep site, it's not the best but its free :) And I have usually posted a link to download setup from mediafire (or some other) but can I run that program from my page without any downloads? I made that program with windows forms application, do I need to use wbf broswer application? ( if so, can I somehow fastly switch it without making everything again?) And one more, if it is possible in some other wep site than suntuubi.com can you recommend it?

All the other projects the publishing tab does not come up. Why is P3Data bold? How can I publish the whole solution 'P3Data' as one whole entity?

I have tried to publish my program. For the time being, no errors when save or do anything. Then again, when I check the database (Ms Access 2007) that is being used, there is no data in there.
My program is to capture image. The image is captured in put in folder but no data at all in my database. How to solve this?

Since I'm unable to publish my main project, I've decided to start from scratch to see if I can locate the problem. I created a brand new project, just a simple form and dragged 4 controls onto it (a label, a button, a combo box and a checkbox). There is no code in any of the controls.I published this using Clickonce at url...(I'm aware people may not be happy clicking links). It's set to run only from the webpage. The only thing that it does when I press the button, is starts the batch file, then goes to function searchtitle, which executes the batch file again when it finds out it didn't work properly.The button text doesn't change, none of the items are being added to my first list box, and I can't do anything to the window after pressing the button. It constantly opens the batch file every 5 seconds or so.

This copies the *.ascx files from G:/SolutionDirectory/ControlsLibrary to C:/Inetpub/wwwroot/WebProject/controlsNow when I publish WebProject, the publish does not copy the *.ascx files from C:/Inetpub/wwwroot/WebProject/controls to my website. This is because they are not added to my project.
Is there a way I can publish *.ascx files without adding them to my project?I know there is a way to publish all files by selecting the option "All files in this project." That includes more files than I want.
I am by no means a programmer, but I was recently tasked with moving our website to a new server, since the website manager quit. The Visual Studio solution was written in 2008. I can compile and run the solution, so I'm sure it's working just fine. But every time I try to publish the solution, either to FTP or to my local hard drive, the .asp webpages get deployed to a sub directory, where on the live site, they are in the root.

1) Cannot publish because a project failed to build.
2) An error occurred while signing: SignTool.exe not found.
Regarding #1, I can manually build and rebuild the application without error. I only get this error when I try to Publish.
Regarding #2, I looked in my SDKv3.5Bin directory and indeed the signtool was not there. In fact I only had 3 files (genasm.exe, genasm.exe.config, and hidpi.res). I copied the signtool.exe from the Visual Studio 2005, (file dated 10/26/2006), but I still get the same error saying it can not find the file.
i have created a batch file and have added it to the project using add items. Basically what i am aiming at is to execute this file on a button click action. I am using System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("hello.bat") command to run this file i have changed the build action to resource for this batch file. But when i run this program, it is not able to locate the batch file. I am required to give a relative path as the path my vary from machine to machine. how can i make this file accessable using a relative path?

View 9 RepliesI use to do programming in VB3.0 years ago and decided to try it out again with VB2005. Basically I made a chat application for my coworkers so they can chat at their desk. It's a shared network and the program is pretty simple. Basically the chat gets stored in a .ini file and that part works fine, but I want to be able to show the users who are currently in the chat and I am not sure how to go about doing this, when you login to the chat it takes your name which I would like displayed and when you close the application to remove the name from the list while keeping everyone elses updated.

i have a application that i designed for an assignment which uses a DB (ACCESS) However when i publish the application it fails to load even though the application completes. I have managed to find that it is the database that is not copying over, how do i solve this (the db is located when debugging and is also in the project files)
