Have a table called AProjects in a SQL Server Express 2008 Database. This table has a date field (Data Type date) called Due. Trying to extract a dataset based on the following code / query in the Form Load sub in VB 2008 Express: All variables have been declared
deal with ever changing SQL queries based on various conditions? i am using Cmd.BindByName = True so it doesn't need to be in an ordered way when adding parameters. Just that this is the hectic way of doing the update SQL ..or even worse insert SQL/I favor doing parameters instead of using stored procedure bcoz i find it faster by using parameters .
I am a new to programming, trying to learn vb.net, so I apologize if my questions are very elementary or my terminology is incorrect. I am trying to format a query to an Oracle table based on user-selected radio buttons on a Windows form (i.e. the query will return different elements from the table based on the radio buttons selected). The query results will be placed in a listbox on the form. My thought was to make a Property containing my query like so:
[Code]...
and then I have a sub that feeds this SQL property (containing the query) into an OracleConnection. My problem is that I don't know how to customize that query depending on what radio buttons are selected by the user. Is a Property the best way to go about this, or is there some other way that may be better?
I would like to get a 'due' or predicted inspection date based on alternating with another date? How would I go about this? [Code] The due inspection either can be 24 months (second yearly) but it has to alternate with the last safety inspection.
Before I build my own and after looking for quite a while (to no avai) does any one know of a function that will return the dates of a recurrence.
For instance:
- The recurrence might be the first Monday of each month.
- The second week of each month.
So what I want is to pass the recurrence information to the function and it will return in an array all the dates that are applicable.I've looked at some other topics here but none are as comprehensive as what I need.
Is it possible to connect to a database on SQL Server R2 Express from Visual Basic Express? I am following a set of tutorial videos done in SQL Server 2005, but cannot seem to connect to create the database. I have created the database in SQL Server R2 Express, but cannot connect. Is there a work around?
Here is the scoop: I am trying to make a user account SQL database work with Visual Basic 2008 Express for login purposes, i.e. usernames & passwords. Plan is to host this server so people can login to use the the application and verify they have a valid account. I would like to host all the account information in SQL due to the possiblity of hundreds of users at any given time. I also need the ability to add data to the database for users registering for the first time. The SQL server will need to be able to access the SQL Server databases remote via WAN.
I am trying to re write a VB6 program using MS Access, many years ago, using VB 2010 express and SQL server 2008 R2 Express. I have a database with several tables, which I created using the designer. I am able to connect to the database and select data and display it in textboxes etc in vb code. What I have not been able to in code is to INSERT rows DELETE rows or UPDATE any data in the tables. I can do any of these operations using the Query Designer, but I want to do it in code. I can post some code if necessiary, but I thought it might just be some property that I had not set in the designer.
there Dream in Code Community! Im an okay programmer as far as skill right now I am still learning as we all are I need some help from some experienced VB.NET programmers in the community, Here is the scoop: I am trying to make a user account SQL database work with Visual Basic 2008 Express for login purposes, i.e. usernames & passwords.
It's probably just a case of me not looking in the right place or not seeing the obvious, but does anyone know if a machine with just version 2.0 of the .NET Framework should be able to run a VB.NET Express application which accesses a SQL Server Express database file? Or is there an additional requirement for a non-development machine to have some kind of SQL Server Express runtime component in addition to the 2.0 Framework? It seems to be counterintuitive to expect that a VB.NET application would be able to access any kind of SQL Server data without having some kind of SQL Server host component (Express or otherwise) installed. But then again, it seems just as counterintuitive that Microsoft would require the download and installation of the new framework as well as a separate database runtime in order for the average user to run an application with accesses a local SQL Server Express database. To me, it runs contrary to the whole concept of XCopy deployment to require more than just the application's files and .NET Framework for an application to run properly. But nothing I've read so far explicitly indicates that a user would require anything more than the app files and the framework to run an application which accesses SQL Server Express data. But...I can't get any VB Express applications which uses a SQL Server Express databases to run on any machine that doesn't have SQL Server Express installed. What am I missing?(Apologies if this isn't the right group to post this in.
I am writing a message system on my server, the xml is something like this
<xml> <entry> <sender>[code]....
my problem now i guess is 2 fold, i wish to combine the first 3 queries into a single query and place in a list or a collection or is there a way to do this with a single query that will give me my desired result?
have a table in SQL Server Ex 2005 containing a column called "geboortedatum" (datetime)When I open the table the date is shown like this: "31-12-2011 0:00:00".When I use the query designer and execute the query select geboortedatum from table: the date is shown like: "2011-12-31 0:00:00".he problem is that I want to use the datetimepicker in VB.NET to compare the date in a SQL statement that looks like this:
strZoekGeboorteDatum = String.Format("AND M.GeboorteDatum > " & Me.dtpZoekMedewerkerGebDatVan.Value But probably the comparison is:
i have a textbox1 in my asp.net webform which shows the server side date i want the user would not select date using jquery datepicker earlier than the date in the textbox1 i m using the following code to show jquery calendar in other textbox2 :
Ive been using both SQL Server CE and SQL Server Express. Both are pretty easy to program. What are the considerations for choosing one over the other ?
Ours is a transportation company. We do services/transportation/logistics for various companies.I am working on Scheduling a work order process for those companies who are registered with us.While during the process of registration, a company will specify the week number to execute a job during the contract period. So this will be a routine service which we need to perform for every number of weeks specified For Example: if any company specifies the week number as : 2. that means for every 2 weeks we need to do the service for that company during the contract period.
How to update the dates into the database server for each company for their jobs to be performed. So if my Admin wants to know all the jobs in this current week. I should be able to pick only those companies and their jobs in this week only.
I need to create an unordered list of dates for a news items archive... It should look like this
2011 Dec Nov
[Code].....
I can carry on with this adding in the for loops for months nested under each year however it doesn't seem very practical and will generate links for months even if there are no news item entries...
Is there a way I can build this tree automatically and only include the years/months that have news entries. I can pull a list of SQL Server timestamps from the DB for all the news items and then would like to populate the list based on that...

I am new to working with SQL databases (and databases in general) so I do not have a lot of experience with how queries work and how I can practice them. When I was first learning xml and XPath, I found XPath Visualizer incredibly helpful after someone on stack overflow mentioned it to me.Due to this, I am wondering if a similar tool exists for SQL databases?Basically a tool that will allow me to connect to a database, enter queries and see somehow what the results would be like.
I have looked online a bit, however I have found relatively few options in terms of any utility that would do what I want, and that looks reliable.I will ultimately be writing an application to interact with an SQL 2008 server in vb.net, however for now I am just experimenting so I will know what I am doing when I actually want to create my application. So far I have managed to connect to the database using an OLE DB connection, but I am now looking for a way to experiement with queries without just querying and figuring out a way to interpret the results in my program. Basically I want to be able to remove the programming aspect of things so I can experiment with queries without needing to question anything in my code that is unrelated to the specific query.
May I ask a question to you all.I have vb.net project that generate sales report from SQL Server Database.I changed SQL Server 2005 Express to SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition.
After that my program can't run properly and every time I got Time Out Expire message.
That program work properly with SQL Server 2005 Express.May I request suggestion how to fix this.
I'm using VB 2008 Express for our College Project. I'm also running SQL Server 2008 Express and have installed SQL Server Management Studio and used it to create my database. Both software have been installed and running locally. I'm trying to connect to the database from VB 2008 Express. Database connection wizard have 3 options:
connecting to Access db connecting to SQL Server 3.5 compact db and connecting to SQL Server db file.
I have SQL 2008 Express and Visual Basic 2008 Express runing on XP Professional SP2. When I select add new data source from VB I don't have the option to connect to SQL Server 2008 express to get at the to SQL Server Database. I also notice that the OLE DB connector is not availble as a data connector. Can somebody please confirm that VB 2008 Express can connect directly to SQL Server 2008 Express and how I can achieve it.
'm trying to use Visual Basic 2008 Express and connect to a DB of SQL Server 2008 Express but ... you can tell me why in the Database Explorer and the Data menu of VB only have the following options for data source? Microsoft Access Database File Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 Microsoft SQL Server Database File does not have the options Microsoft ODBC Data Source Microsoft SQL Server obs.: I have the Visual Web Express 2008 installed, and there are the options available.
