SQL - Tick Attendances In Group Meetings

Jan 22, 2012

I am an experienced amateur vb programmer with SQL and Access experience. I have recently been asked to prepare a program to log Group Meetings attendances. There are the following tables:

Members
MemberID AutoNumber
GroupID Number
MemName Text
IsPresent Y/N
Groups
GroupID Autonumber
GroupName Text
Meetings
MeetingsID Autonumber
MeetingDate Date
GroupID Number
MemberID Number
AttendanceID Number
Attendances
AttendaceID Autonumber
MemberID Number
MeetingID Number
ISPResent Y/N

I made my relationships...
MemberID in MemberTbl with MemberID in AttendTbl....
MeetingID in AttendanceTbl with MeetingID in MeetingTbl
MemberID in membersTbl with MemberID in LodgeTbl and
LodgeID in LodgeTbl with LodgeID in MeetingsTbl

Each group has 1 meeting every month. What I want is a way to list all members (in datasheet) that belong to a particular group with a checkbox depending if they were present at the particular meeting. I have tried AppendQuieries but that didnt work. On the main form I have meetings as RecordSource with GroupID (user input). after update Sunform is updated and a list with all members belonging to the group appear with a tick box next to their names. The Child/Master link is by GroupID. What I am trying to do is, in the list that appears in the subform I want to be able to tick persons present and their name to be logged in attendance tbl as present.

I'm new with VB and a time program I'm trying to complete is incorporating a tick event. I have the code I need to use, and have the timer placed within the VB Designer but when I start the debugging process, 12:00:00 pops up in the text box. I would like to have it start incrementing after I set the hour, minute and second and initiate the Set Time click event. The code I have for the timer is

The following exception occurred in the DataGridView:

The No and Inv allow me to check and uncheck the checkboxes as many as I want without generating the error.

VS 2010 : Understanding A Tick Method?

Nov 27, 2011

I am working on a project, but the latest enhancement to it has me stumped currently. Here is what the class enhancement asks for:

Modify class time to provide a Tick method that increments the time by one second. Also provide methods IncrementMinute to increment the minute and methods IncrementHour to increment the Hour. The Trick method, the IncrementMinute method and the IncrementHour method should be called when you click the Add 1 to Second button, the Add 1 to Minute button and the Add 1 to Hour button, respectively. Be sure to test the following cases:

A) Incrementing into the next minute.

B) Incrementing into the next hour.

C) Incrementing into the next day (that is, 11:59:59 PM to 12:00:00 AM).

Here is my GUI:

The reason I am confused is currently my program already increments the seconds, minutes, and hours correctly (as shown in pic) for Cases A, B, C. But, I haven't added a Tick method which is what the enhancement to the class Time calls for. Here are the 2 classes I have so far:Time Class that the Tick method is supposed to be added to

Public Class Time
' declare Integer instance variables for the hour, minute and second
Private hourValue As Integer ' 0 - 23
Private minuteValue As Integer ' 0 - 59

Changing Visibility Of Picturebox With Timer Tick?

Jun 10, 2012

I have a timer that on tick checks to see the value of a an element in an array using a counter on another form as well. The picture boxes are initially set to false for visible and they should become true when the timer ticks and the element is equal to 1. I know that the pictureboxes have a valid picture in them because if I initialize them as TRUE first, it shows up properly. I also know that I am entering the IF statement because I can put a simple MsgBox with any string in the IF statement and it will display when the requirements are set. But yet the pictureboxes still do not change.

Create A Timer That Will Activate A Tick Event?

Jul 11, 2011

I am attempting to create a timer that will activate a tick event every 1 second until stopped by an "If" statement. The tick event should then drive a clock measuring time in units of hours, minutes and seconds. The if statements handle the time readout, timer stop and activate another form after a set number of hours have elapsed. I have tried several different methods and while my application is running, it does not add increments to the integers representing the time units, refresh the displayed time units, or perform any of the timer related functions. I assume the cause is that I just don't know as much as I think I do (which isn't much)

Here is the applicable code:

Imports Microsoft.VisualBasic.ApplicationServices
Imports System.IO
Public Class SessionManager

Interface And Graphics :: Delay In Timer Tick?

Dec 2, 2008

I am running an application to control at 1, 10 and 100 Hz to compare their response for a control systems class. I have a timer that reads data from hardware, a timer that updates the screen and does the control, and a timer that writes data to a file. I've been having problems with the speed of the write timer, so I created a buffer. It takes 0 ms to load the buffer, and the buffer is written to file using a synchronized streamwriter and a thread every 100 iterations. It also flips back and forth between two buffers so there are no read/write conflicts. If I try to run at 10 Hz, the timer executes on average every 109 ms. If I try to run at 100 Hz, the timer executes on average ever 15-16 ms.

Modify A Queue Within The Tick Event Of A Timer?

Dim NewQueue As New Queue(Of String)
NewQueue.Enqueue("alpha")
NewQueue.Enqueue("beta")

Time Program Tick Method - Where To Place It

Feb 12, 2011

I have also placed the timer in the Designer, set enable to True and set the interval to 1000 milliseconds. This is the code I found for the Tick Method

Timer.Tick - Remove A Control & A Hint?

Feb 3, 2011

1.) I would like to cause a Timer.Tick event in code. I know you can use PerformClick to cause a Click event. Is there a way to do the same with a timer?

2.) I have several "TextBoxes" listed as being on a "Form" but they cannot be seen. I have copied and pasted these during the design phase but have renamed the copies since. Is there a way to purge the unseen TextBoxes?

Hint: If you have "Windows 7", at the desktop, press <CTRL><SHIFT> and Rotate the Wheel on the Mouse. This will re-size the Icons on the desktop. "THIS ALSO WORKS IN THE VB2010 IDE" and allows you to Zoom the code window.
