I would like to be able to send an exception report via email but my concern is I have to supply my email password in order to send an email, is there a better alternative on sending a report without me divulging my password?

if people wanted to sign up for a email sender they can enter there email into my form i created with VB and it would send that info to my email... well it turns out that they could get my password and i then got my email password hacked... how is this possible is it because i did not encrypt my form and they decrypted my form to get my email and password info? please tell me how this is done so i can be safer next time
View 3 Repliesi have created this programme which is basically a keep safe programme, well it's not created yet anyway.so far i have coded the the log in page, so the user can log in with their email and password.Once they do it comes to a screen asking if they want to visit their 'keep safe' items, or, asking if they want to deposit a file in their 'keep safe'.This is the programme belowThe Reason It say's JMEsseneger, is because i had other plans for the login until i came to face the fact, that im not quite fluant enough in this language to understand it all

If I have multiple threads running and they want to call InsertIntoQueue(), is this considered thread safe? I am under the impression that there is only one copy of the instructions in memory necessary to perform the InsertIntoQueue() function... which would lead me to think that this is thread safe. However, I wonder what happens when two threads attempt to run the function at the same time? Is this thread safe, and if not, how can I make it thread safe? (and What would be the performance implications regarding speed and memory usage)
I am trying to add a subitem to a listview in a threadsafe manner.In a single threaded application it works like so:

However if run in another thread it causes a cross threading error.I have looked at examples of delegate subs that use Invoke, but all examples i have seen involve updating the text property of an object, and i cant get my head round how to apply the concept to actually add a subitem to a listview.
I Have a Function on my frmMain Class wich will update my control to something else after an invoke. When i type "?Label1.Text" on the Immediate Window, the text property IS updated, but when i go check the Form, nothing happened. The code is just like this

The file size of the attachment is 396KB, upon the recipient receiving the email outlook shows the file size as 543Kb. Strange thing is if I send an email with the same attachment using outlook the file size is 396Kb.I understand that file sizes can increase due to the attachment being base 64 encoded as opposed to just raw binary.What I am failing to see is why outlook send a file which is 396KB in size but in code when sending it, the same file is 543Kb.
how would i implement a way that i would not hard code the email message that the application send to email recipients? how will i also include email message formatting (text in bold, italic, etc.)?

I've learned that if you're trying to send mail, you need an SMTP server... I found this list here but every one of them I've tried yields the same "Failure sending mail" error.

Is the problem that I need to show "credentials" (i.e. user/pass)? If so, what would those credentials be? Can I use my yahoo email SMTP server with my login info to do it? And is this all I'd need to add to add the credentials?

i'm tying to send email in my application directly by the smtp server but the server doesn't allow me to do that.The application its used by everyone in the company, so i set the smtp client UseDefaultCredentials to True, but the server replies with this when i try to send an email:[code].....If i set the credentials by hand, the server sends the email. So my problem is how to make this work to everyone? I don't want to have one public/friend var all time in the application with the credentials of the current user?

Now as you can see it is sending the textbox1 text and then pressing enter then sending textbox2 text! Theres quite a few problems in that but before i discuss note: This code is in a Timer. Problem #1: It does not send the keys fully correct all the time because its trying to send them all at once! So i want it to send them 1 letter after the other with 200 ms sleep in them! Problem #2: The sleep is not working: The reason i know is because even after it did the first textbox1 text it didnt wait that 2000 ms!

I am buidling an application that users can use to submit text data and attachments to email recipients. Certain fields, quite a few in fact from the textboxes in the app will be in the email body, and some in the subject line.This is how I am doing it right now, but I figured there has to be a better way. In VB it is one single line of code, not many like it is here. Ideally I would like to be able to better control the positioning in the message body.
