I am creating a 'log' of everything that occurs in my program. I have deleting and all done, adding the logs and whatnot. I just do not know how to save the logs inside the program beyond closing it.
I want to add content to my listview, it automatically save. Close the program, and next time it runs it will be there.
Is it possible to use FileSave to save a richTextBoxs content with a fixed save path, without needing to go thru the save dialogue to select save location.

We could possibly export the contents of the listview control that we can select in the visual basic 2008 application. I tried to set its properties to 'true' on FullRowSelect, HoverSelection and the MultiSelect. I want to copy and paste the content of the listvew control when being highlighted. It highlights all the items inside the listview control and when you use the command ctrl+c for copy and paste it in another application like MS Excel, it only paste one item which is the first item in the row and the rest were not. However, in the datagridview, it ables to paste all the contents inside of the control but the listview control can't. Why is it so? do i need to add codes on it or it is just the Windows OS is not capable of doing it? How do I copy the selected items from the listview control and paste it into another application? Same as the label control which I want to highlight or select the text of the label in order for me to paste into the other application but unable to do so. These are the two controls that I'm trying to find out on how to export their contents to another windows application.

Ok so I wanted to create a application that would, somewhat manage the users own collection of video games (Lame i know ) you add your games to a listview item, with an image and some sub items, viewing details, using a textbox to search your games... etc i hope you get it
Ok so what i cannot figure out, or find by combing the internet! is how to save all new items the user adds... And including: the item, all the sub items and the picture thats associated with the item.! Later i eventually was thinkin of ading a "wish list" feature where you could add the games you want to get later and also tag it with a release date so when the date comes up, it will let you know, maybe through some alarming way or textbox somehwere... I have got a program with a Rich Text Box, the user enters the data in the RTB which can be super or sub scripted, then saves it in a text file (or any other if text file is not possible). Then another user opens the program and loads that data into the RTB. Would the format still be superscripted or subscripted.

So I found out that I can use Notepad++ to open the PDF as a text file and simply add the Trim Box properties as a string and save it. Now I want to do it automatically with vb.net. When I use Stream Reader/Writer the PDF gets destroyed and loses information (Stream Reader dont read all the NUL, SOH, STX etc. I guess). I tried to read the PDF using ReadAllBytes/WriteAllBytes and then it works good, but then I don't know how to replace "Media Box ..." with "Media Box.Trim Box.". I try to use IndexOf but I can only search for single Byte not the whole string. I'm not good in binary and thats perhaps the problem :-). Does anyone have a better way doing it or how do I search for my string "Media Box" in binary?

I have 5 column in my unbound datagridview. after user enter all the values i want to save the content to the text file. I want to save one row as one line of text. Then if user open a gridview and enter dataon it then the new data should append with the previous data in text file. Is that posible to do. How can we do this

What is the best way to save listview items?
View 3 Repliesi am currently working on an Application Manager that basically will free up my desktop of all my shortcuts by adding them to a program, or in my case, the listview object. Basically, so far i have set up a toolbar on top with a few options that will add listview objects, listview groups, remove those, and some other help and support things.
What i want to do is allow the user to add a listview object, which will be an application shortcut- they can choose the name, the icon, descriptions, whatever. (In essence, i am basically moving the desktop style of shortcuts into an application, where you can categorize and organize these shortcuts).
The questions i have are: 1. Is the listview object a good option for what i am trying to accomplish? 2. I saw that you can import imagelists, but how can i incorporate that to include icon pictures selected when a user adds an application? 3. How do you save listview data? 4. Anyone have a good strategy on how to approach this project? 5. Do i/Should i make an 'application' class that handles all the application information rather than using direct listview methods?
I have some problems again with listview. This time my problem is that my list view save wrongly to dll file. Like this ListViewItem: {TEST} . So loading load this at same form too and this thing dont work.

1)This is my code.. (below)what i am trying to do here is to insert username and confirmed password into a sql table called login via a pre created form.I have 1 textbox, 2 Maskedtextboxes and a button.
what i would like is if the passwords do not match in both maskedtextboxes for the system to throw out a message saying passwords do not match please try again..which then clears previous content and requires the user to enter details again. once details are correct and system commits the new user details to the table and throws up a confirmation message.
