Scheduled Task Will Not Run Returns E0434f4d As Last Result?

Jan 10, 2011

I have a simple vb.net application. When I go to bindebugprogram.exe and double click the program runs perfect. The same program will not execute using task scheduler. When I create a scheduled task and click 'run' it just pops up a console window for a second, closes. Additionally, this same program used to run with task scheduler. One day, it just stopped working.

ps: I have this program code managed in svn so I can safely say that the code has not changed.

ASP.NET Impersonation Or Scheduled Task?

May 25, 2012

I have to sync information between a users table in SQL and a user group in active directory. For example, if a user is entered into SQL table A then they need to be entered into group A and if a user is removed from SQL table A, then remove them from group A.The application is written in ASP.NET (VB)

I see two solutions:

1) A scheduled task that runs every night syncing the two (written in VB.NET).

2) Use inpersonation so that Active Directory can be updated by the ASP.NET application. The Web.Config file will have to be encrypted in this solution.

I have read articles online that say it is bad practice to update AD in ASP.NET. This would suggest that option 1 is the better solution. Which is the better solution?

Setting Up A Scheduled Task In .Net?

Feb 20, 2010

I've read a few posts here on StackOverflow about task scheduling, but I'm not sure that I get it right. I'm coding (in VB.Net) a backup application, that I'd like to add as a scheduled task (in fact, I'd just like to let the user decide to run it every day at, for example, 3 AM)I've read posts suggesting to use a windows service for this, but it sounds a bit to much for something as simple as periodically running a task, isn't it?

.net - Run Scheduled Task With Highest Privileges?

Aug 20, 2010

Im am currently coding an application for auto updating ccleaner. Everything worked well until I enabled UAC.. I am using this project: [URL] to schedule the updating process, but when uac is enabled I get every time a message if I would let ccleaner installer make changes to my computer. The auto updating process must be done silently without bugging the user with prompts of uac.

When i manually check the "run with highest priviliges" box in task scheduler it does run without a prompt. But I can't seem to do this programmatically. Or I havent found it yet.

ClickOnce Application Not Running As A Scheduled Task

Jul 27, 2009

I am currently attempting to support a ClickOnce application that i did not write. This application is running from a scheduled task. The scheduled task points to a .application file. This had been running happily untill today when it stopped. The only thing that has changed is that the application has been executed manually by a developer by double clicking on the .application file. Since then each time the scheduled task is scheduled to run the application doesn't appear to execute. The task reports no error and the error code (0x0) given indicates it ran and completed ok.

I am not familiar with ClickOnce and am not sure when implication clicking the .application file would have had or why it has stopped running as a scheduled task. It appears to me that everything else has remained the same (i have checked it is running under the correct account etc).

Scheduled Task And EXE Not Working Properly As Desired

I don't know what's wrong with it because when I tested the app to run at times when I am viewing it, the initial form pops up. I already set everything like to Run whether user is logged on or not. Program Has No Interface When Scheduled As A Task With Network Administrator Username / Password

Sep 1, 2009

I've been having huge problems having a VB.NET Windows Forms program run as a scheduled task under XP SP3. The program runs when I set the task up to use my non-admin network username and password, I can see the interface fine (albeit without the desired results - the program requires access to remote shares). When I set the task up with the network administrator account credentials, the task is "Running" but I do not see any interface. It doesn't error - it just kind of sits there happily in the background.

Code Returns Zero As Result

Nov 14, 2011

I am trying to create an application for a wire company that sells spools of wire for $100 each. The normal delivery charge is $10 per spool. Rush delivery costs $15 per spool. The user should enter the number of spools ordered in a text box, and check Rush Delivery box if rush delivery is desired. When the Calculate Total button is clicked, an input box should appear asking the user to enter the number of spools currently in stock. If the user has ordered more spools than are in stock, a portion of the order is back-ordered. For example, if the user orders 200 spools and there are only 150 spools in stock, then 150 spools are ready to ship and 50 spools are back-ordered.

Attached is the code with comments on what each function is supposed to do. I dont know why but the form always returns zero.

Networkstream Write Only Returns First Result (need All)?

Mar 19, 2012

My code looks very similar to this post Read bytes from NetworkStream (Hangs), which I copied below. ( I realize this is c# - I need a vb solution)

[Code]...

My issue lies in this:

I have a form that takes user input on which tif file(s) to find (which ends up being the getBytes(message) ). When one does this, it always returns one result - the first tif file that fits the criteria, However, I know in certain instances I should recieve more than one match.

Then I send the results to a picturebox and should be able to scroll through results (which this part works fine)I've tried a few ways to get multiple results, but maybe I'm missing the obvious? My best guess is using the asyncronous beginread/write.I've attempted using a for loop but I end up getting a bunch of the same tif files as a result..

ASP Function That Returns Result From Stored Procedures

Apr 15, 2010

I am working on a project that requires me to hop into to separate DB's. So I have figured that I need to have multiple functions inside of my VB page. The only problem I am having,is I am not to sure how to get this all accomplished. So far I have figured out the overall structure, just need to implement that structure.

Here is my idea:
The main Function would call two other functions. We can Call them Sub Function 1 and Sub Function 2. So, the main Function takes the saved sessions information for the E-mail address and dumps in into Sub Function 1. It needs to open up a new connection to the db/stored procedure and RUN the following procedure and then return the result. Here is the stored procedure and what I think is correct.

CREATE PROCEDURE WEB_User
(@EMAIL_ADDRESS varchar(80) = [EMAIL_ADDRESS])
AS SELECT MEMBER_NUMBER
FROM WEB_LOGIN
WHERE EMAIL_ADDRESS = @EMAIL_ADDRESS

So my question is, what is the function suppose to look like? how do I send the session information to the procedure? and finally, how do I return the stored procedure results and push back into the main function so it can be carried into sub function 2?

Custom Message Box (Form) Returns Result

Oct 16, 2009

I've created a custom MessageBox (a Form), that has buttons Yes and No. There is a function popUp() to show the MessageBox. I would call the MsgBox in a parent as follows:
CustomMessageBox.popUp()

Now I want the message box to return a value:
Dim a as Intger = CustomMessageBox.popUp()
But this should only return once the user clicks a button in the message box.

My popup sub:
Dim thread As New Threading.Thread(AddressOf GetResult)
Public Function PopUp(Optional ByVal ErrorMessage As String = "", Optional ByVal Title As String = "", Optional ByVal ButtonType As ButtonType = ButtonType.OK, Optional ByVal MessageType As MessageType = MessageType.None)
[Code] .....
gotResult is a Boolean = false. It the user clicks a button gotResult is changed to true.
result is a integer containing the number of the button clicked.

When I run this code, the result is returned, even if the user doesn't click a button. I understand why, because the main thread of the form is not "paused" while the user has not clicked a button. How can I pause the message box itself, until a button was clicked?
I've tried this:

Public Function PopUp(Optional ByVal ErrorMessage As String = "", Optional ByVal Title As String = "", Optional ByVal ButtonType As ButtonType = ButtonType.OK, Optional ByVal MessageType As MessageType = MessageType.None)
[Code] .....

But now the whole message box is captured in a loop and the message box is like disabled, because it waits for the loop to end, so the user can't click anything.

VS 2008 Make One Application Send A Task To Another Application / Receive Result From That Secondary App?

Apr 26, 2010

is it possible to make one application send a task to another application and recieve the result from that secondary app?i made a text editor program and i added a scan feature and i made another app that has ocr capabilities. The scanner ability is in my text editor program, the ocr program doesnt scan you have to input an image into it and it will give text result a few seconds later.the prob is alot of times the ocr code uses sooo much memory and crashes when its incorporated with my text editor, but individually each application works fine and doesnt take too much memory. Memory wont be even an issue if the ocr program is standalone so that when it is done decoding image the application can be made to exit. now here is the question, how do i make my text editor send the image to the ocr program and how do i make my ocr program send the text back to my text editor? is it possible? i mean the only way i know off is creating temp files in a certain folder and having a timer on each program that keeps waiting for temp files. That just seems like pretty lame coding to me i was wondering if there's a better way?
