For a project i am working on, i am taking bookings. These bookings are stored in a database alongside a users personal details. The personal details are assigned an ID according to the user who booked it. A user can book more than once with different personal details.
My problem is that i want a user to be able to edit a booking. I want a list of all the names that user booked to be listed in a combo box. This is the part i am having trouble with. i am using an access database and using sql statements to pull out the data. This is what i have tried so far:

GROUP BY [First Name], UserID
HAVING (UserID = ?)
If i execute this query in the query editor, it works and shows the two records currently assigned the input id. However, if i try to output this to, for example, a text box, then it remains blank. I am assuming thisis because there is more than one output, but i'm not sure.
I'm writing a program for Employees Management and i need to automatically generate a Payroll for each one then calculate some things and save it to another table.
I know how to calculate and save. I just need to get all the ID column of all rows in my Employees table, and select each Employee ID one by one in order to calculate each payroll automatically.

i have a problem to retreive whole rows of a datagridview and transfer to my new access database in vb environment anyone can give me advice or examples of how to do it ? for example my datagridview colums have JOB_NO, ERR_DESC , REMARK

Any method that can effectively get the total number of rows that is StartRows to EndRows in a database table and then get the corresponding data from that row as currently I am having difficulty in retrieving out the correct row of data to the column that I am comparing. It will always get the first row of data regardless of which row I put in the handphone number which I'm comparing to. I used a msgbox(n) to see the number of rows in the database but it displays only one where I have two rows in my database. The for loop is the one which will detect the number of maxrows and also retrieve out the corresponding details. But apparently this is not the appropriate way.

Delete duplicated values in the names, merge the matching rows of an employee and put them in the correct colum that matches the payment concept. I'm using SQL Server 2000 and Excel 2007, so feel free to talk about querys and Excel 2007 new functions. I'm working on a project and my boss insists I use a DataGrid for this. The grid holds information for work orders, one of the cols has a check box in it. I need the user to be able to select any number of those checkboxes/rows and then return a value to the table "stamping" that users ID. This is what I have so far to get the grids populated... I'm using 2005 with a 2000 Access Database if that helps. Though this will be changed to SQL Server once we get it working (yay more work)...

I am to make a program that lets the user save certain data values with a delimiter(":") to a text file(done) Example of data entries [code]Then i am to load those values to a listbox , i was able to do that as well and i include the delimiter when i load the values.Now i am supposed to let the user enter any month/year value for date(mm/yyyy) such as 06/2010 and if any of the entries match the search string then either the program selects those values in the listbox or a popup msgbox is used to show the entries. How the result is displayed is a little irrelevant, but how do i search and atleast select the matching entries in the listbox ? and not just the first instance but all instances of the search string.
I have Dataset ds filled up with values Until now I was displaying values in GridView. Now I want that all the rows should be columns and columns should be rows.I have 2 options: Either 1 I can directly convert grid to columns and display it, or 2 I can convert the GridView to html and then write loops to convert. am using sql 2005 and vb 2008.i need to compare dates and select matching records betweem a selected date range.say records between 11/13/2010 and 11/20/2010.e.thing is working ok except when it comes to selecting dates between 11/1/2010 and 11/9/2010.this is happening because when am retrieving the dates from database,its being retrieved in the format 11/01/2010 instead of 11/1/2010 and so it reports no records found,and knowing the limits of sql 2005 this is the only way i can retrieve the date. I was playing with ASP.NET MVC 1.0 a couple of days ago. I started out with a single table DB named 'Contacts', with very simple structure e.g. Title, FullName, SurName, Email, Phone, Address etc.I'm using LINQ as my Model.In my main view I wanted to display a list of alphabets that have matching FullNames starting with that alphabet plus the count of FullNames. I have a query that I have to run that requires me to get rows from a table based on the value of a field in another table (which I have gotten earlier). I currently have it done like this (simplified).
I am using MS-SQL and I am trying to write a query which fetches rows from the master table and related rows from the detail table. Now, the thing I want is that it must only fetch the first row from the master table and related field from the detail tables should be blank in that first row, now if there are related rows found in the detail tables, they must be shown in the separate rows. I've got a table in an SQL server that often has large amounts of data imported into it via an automated process - the problem is that a lot of the data that gets imported is a duplicate of data that is already in there (for example if we have a customer in there called Mr Customer Ltd, a duplicate with a slightly different name could get imported, like Mr.Customer Ltd).
So I am using the Fuzzy Logic class that Wild Bill put in the CodeBank to find names that are similar and then highlight these items. The thing is that the target table that the imported data ends up in has several thousand rows and the table that contains the data to be imported often contains several thousand rows as well, so I'm trying to decide how to do this. Obviously reading both tables into memory is not an option as it will consume too much memory on the client PC that is running this app. So this is what I am doing at the moment:
1. Read the table that contains data to be imported into a DataTable in memory
2. Open a connection to the target table and use the SQLDataReader to start to loop through it
3. In this loop, for each row that the data reader reads I then loop through the entire set of rows in the DataTable and run this fuzzy logic method that compares the account name from the current row in the datatable loop to the account name in the row that the datareader is currently on.(there is also a Thread.Sleep(1) after each row is processed to prevent the process from eating up 100% of the CPU while it runs)
I currently have this working already for one of my combo box's, but when i try to use the same code i get this error ''There is no row at position 6.'' . The are 2 fields in the table asset_type_id, asset_type_name', im trying to dispaly the values in a combo box for the field 'asset_type_name.
