I receive the error" "URI formats are not supported". I wasted 2 weeks already looking for a solution and I would appreciate if someone could point me to the right direction.
I'm trying to send a 28 character string to a remote ip address and port. I've done this successfully in vb.net using the following code snippets:
Dim swon As String = "A55A6B0550000000FFFBDE0030C8"
Dim sendBytes As [Byte]()
sendBytes = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(swon)
netStream.Write(sendBytes, 0, sendBytes.Length)
I now have to convert this across to c++ and have the following so far:
char *swon = "A55A6B0550000000FFFBDE0030C8";
array<Byte>^ sendBuffer = gcnew array<Byte>(bufferSize);
sendBuffer = BitConverter::GetBytes( swon );
tcpStream->Write(sendBuffer, 0, sendBuffer->Length);
but am getting stuck at this point. I'm sure I'm missing a simple syntax error but I can't figure it out!To clarify, I'm not getting an error, but I don't think the string is being converted to bytes correctly as when I convert back, I just get a '01'
first asking an question and then introducing but i kinda need some help in here.First of all im not new to VB, But i am to VB.NET and espessially socket programming.Now i need an way to send the lenght of the string being send in bytes before the string itself so <lenghtinbytes><string>.
ive tried so many things, and its possible because the client itself does it too...but just cant find an way.

I'm trying to make a scheduling tool for my major at my school and I have a CourseEntryForm, RemainingCoursesForm and CoursesCompeltedForm.The CourseEntryForm has list boxes of courses that are required for graduation. I have been able to send the selected values of these list boxes to rich text boxes in the CoursesCompletedForm, however I need the courses that have not been selected in the list boxes to be sent to string that I can use in rich text boxes in the RemainingCoursesForm.I have tried using:ListBox.Items.ToString(RemainingCourses)when RemainingCourses is declared as string. I have also tried If statements to try to assign it, but I can never get it to work properly.

Now i need to do a few hundred/thousand requests all at the same time or atleast over a short period. I am assuning i need to do this asynchronously. I have looked all over the net and tested various ways to communicate asynchronously and am pretty stumped. None of the examples out there seem to explain how i receive the xml return as a string ("which i will write to file or db")
Does anyone have any working code to do such a process?
My code below works as far as sending the commands to com1 (not sure if this is best method however) but when I try to move 'sending' to Label2 to tell the operator to wait it doesnt do it?? The Label2.Text = "" does work and clears the text that is in the properties for the label after codes sent. Why? The debugger stops on this line like it should... I am brand new to programming so go easy

I'm writing a Repeater Control in an ascx file which renders some info as a row that comes from a complex search. In an aspx file I have the query to retrieve a DataView that gives me the XML string with the info needed to feed the Repeater. The problem is that I don't know how can I pass the XML string (or the DataView or DataSet) from the aspx to the ascx file so as I can render the info.

View 2 RepliesI have created code to send the sql statements for all of my queries to a text file. Now i want to figure out the parent/child relationships of the queries. I need to select the tbl names in the "FROM" statement and insert them into an access table.
Here is an example of the data in my text file:
Query:__Base_Budget_Costs

I am trying to send a control string from VB.NET to a serial port. I am using a pololu trex jr. on the receiving end of the serial port. I have attached a copy of my current code which compiles without errors, but fails to send data. I can tell that it is not sending data because I have a light on the control board connected to the port and it normally blinks when data is received. The program that came with the board drives it perfectly but does not serve the purpose I need it to. I am open to any suggestions as I eventually plan to write a class to contain the control routines.
View 12 RepliesMy VB.NET WinForms program (parent) calls another VB.NET Console program (child) with Process.Start(). The child application runs quickly and I would like a status message returned to the parent. How can I send a string from the child to parent?Is there some built-in way because of the parent-child relationship or must I use some other interface like sockets?
View 2 Repliesi knew Serial ports are a type of computer interface that complies with the RS-232 standard. They are 9-pin connectors that relay information, incoming or outgoing, one byte at a time. Each byte is broken up into a series of eight bits, hence the term serial port.And I want to write a program chatting through Serial Port.
View 3 RepliesIm tring to send 4 strings from a windows form to a webpage (aspx)I need to be able to send special chars, like æ ø å, from win form to aspx,process string, and send back a response.I also need to be able to store that string in a readable format so i can see the special characters.The win form only needs to receive a string and not a complete html page with body and stuff, only the string.Likewise the aspx page only need to receive the string maybe formated like var1=string1&var2=string2 etc.I have tried so many diff things and apparently im missing something.
I have tried with webclient.request, webclient.uploadvalues, webclient.uploadstring, streamwriter and it always get mixed up so my specialcharactes end up like ??? or some boxes.How would i do this? What do i need to declare and how, both on the client windows from and aspx.
im very new to visual basic. as in i just started 2 days ago. Currently i have a little program written up that has a couple of radio buttons and then a submit button. when you select a radio button and click the submit button, a little message box with pop up and say "you selected such and such"
Well now im trying to make something that will send a string to arduino through the usb cable. Basically it will use the same set up as stated above but instead of a pop up message it will just send the string through the port. for example Radiobutton1 - when selected and submit button pressed will send "1" (no quotes) through the serial port Radiobutton2 - when select and submitted will send "1" and then maybe "3"
and so on and so. Some radio buttons will only send 1 string through them and some may send multiple. Now, i dont need help with arduino, i have that already set up to wait for the strings to come through the com port. just need to figure out how to do it in VB.
I have designed a label using "ZebraDesigner_XML_V2.exe" and uploaded it to a Zebra S4M printer.

I am using sockets and such for a while now, and want to go an step further in this. Now for example lets say an client would send [lenghtofstringinbytes]string[somethingelseinbytes]another thing.
How can I send/read/parse it?
Now I am doing this:
Private Sub onDataArrival(ByVal ar As IAsyncResult)
Try
Dim obj_SocketState As StateObject = CType(ar.AsyncState, StateObject)
Dim obj_Socket As Socket = obj_SocketState.WorkSocket
Dim sck_Data As String
[Code] .....
So using Getstring for it, but thats not the way for this as you get nothing else but an empty string back. So I have to parse it without converting it to an string.
I create a small program witch is a tcp client.I sent a asqii string to a tcp device over ethernet thads acts like a server.As soon as the device recieves the input string it will respond back with response data. The problem is i am not getting any response data back from the divice. The lenght of the string is max. 30 characters.When a use WireShark i see the reponse, but VB read nothing.I have read many threads with explenations about server/client connections but no example of a client with a tcp listener built in.I think thad the stream read is to late after the send instruction.
View 2 RepliesI have developed a VB.NET (VS2005) application that performs a dependency check of VBA code to see where a selected procedure was called from. I want to add the facility to launch an application and to load the selected procedure into it's edit window. I can launch the application and, using sendkeys, I can open the application window, and the final thing is to use SendKeys to insert the function name. Now, here is the problem. Where the finction name contains parentheses, they get stripped out by SendKeys. For example where a function name is of the form "Scriptxyz(1)", then sendkeys sends the value "Scriptxyz1" to the application. I have the script name defined as a string and am using SendKeys(strName). How can I stop SendKeys from stripping out the parentheses?
View 2 RepliesIf we have a string that contains for example "01_1A" in ascii, I would like to take first two chars and following two chars after mark and send it as hex format, like &H1 and &H1A.
Note that I would not convert ascii to hex. I am asking for something like &H(var).
