I was looking to change the background color of a datagrid cell when the cell value changes
View 1 RepliesIs there a way to locate a cell by back color? I have a datagrid, that will populate names, on some of the cells. Some of the cells will be empty.
I have it so if there is a name in the cell, the background color will change to blue. I also can look for a specific value, and locate the value that way, and then change the color the cell or whatever.
The problem is that I have 4 different status for a cell with the same name. So for example, "Joe" name will show up in the grid. That cell background will turn blue.
The next status is "Check-In". So I can return the value "Joe" from my database with a store procedure, and look for that value of "Joe" again, and change the color to red to show he is checked in. The other 2 status I have is In Session, Session over. The problem is what if there is more than 1 "Joe"?
I think the best way is using the datagrids CellPaintings. But I can't find any other value beside a value to locate a cell on that procedure. So I thought if there is a way I can find a cell by the e.value = "Joe" and cell.backcolor = color.blue, than I can avoid having problems with multiples names.
I would be open to any other ideas, or a better way of doing this. Oh, is there a way to use tags for a cell value? I thought that might be a way was well.
I have a datagrid view with 8 columns. How do I change the background color for any cell in columns 2-5 where the value equals the value in column 8. For instance:

I have a DGV where I'm setting the backcolor of certain cells to light gray. But I need to be able to restore the backcolor to what it was before I changed it to gray. I could just set it to transparent, but the problem with that is that I use an alternating row color of alice blue for the DGV & setting a cell in a blue row to transparent makes it white. So, in summary, I need to be able to restore white rows to white & blue rows to blue. Any ideas? I thought about checking the backcolor of another column in the row & then using that to reset the cell, but that seems kind of a hack.

Initial Requirements:

I can change the color of the return value based on conditional statements but cannot figure out the correct syntax to change the table cell back ground. My attempt is commented out.
How do I correctly declare the table cell? Findcontrol must not be the correct way.
How would I go about changing the background color or just the last item in a listbox?
View 1 RepliesI'm kind of stuck on this one, and i know it's going to be something simple, but I just can't come up with the solution. I want to be able to assign a background color for each item in a listview with a predefined string or other variable type, so when item's are added to the listview and they contain a specific string, the background color for that item will be changed to the predefined color which is stored in a string (or other variable). When I attempt to change the background color of the listview item using a string ie. "Blue" I get an error.[code]....
View 8 Repliesi have a listbox that contains the words "week1", "week2",all the way up to "week52" and when i select a week from the listbox it will retrieve a value from a mysql database that will represent a progress bar value. my progress bar has a range of 0-120 and i would like to have all the weeks that have values higher than 100 to be highlighted or marked somehow, in the listbox. so my question is, "is there a way to set the background color of certain weeks in the listbox to orange based on the value that they represent on the database?
for example for "week1", the value is 114, so when the listbox loads, i want the background color of the item "week1" in the list to be orange (indicating that it's current value is higher than 100)? i know that this requires me to implement a user defined drawing function for the listbox items but i dont know where i would even start. i would like this to be somewhat automatic so that it checks the values and changes the background colors of any value higher than 100, instead of me specifying a name of the item.
How can I change the listview control selected item background color?
View 1 RepliesThe problem is that if you never enter anything into a cell for a new row then that cell is never validated. This is a problem because I have columns that should not be null. I am doing the check in the row level validation and storing the information about which cells are empty that should not be empty. The row level validation works fine and the row level validation error indicator goes on,(red exclamation mark at the beginning of the row) but I also need a visual indicator on the individual cells that are in error.
I am thinking that setting the HasError property for the cells that are in error should cause them to display n error style (the default red border). Is there a way to this this either from XAML (perferably) or from code?Alternatively I could cause those cells to re-validate when the row editing is finished. Does anyone know how to do this?
I have a datagrid that will be accepting data from an external measuring device via the serial port. The grid is also open to editing records as well. Part of the process of making this grid user friendly is to intercept the "enter" key and move to the next cell until there is a value in the cell. This is only for some cells, other cells can be blank. I have worked out how to intercept the "enter" key from another post on this forum. Here is the code:

Basically i want dynamic code that will change the color depending on the items in the box.
I want the background of my form to be the same color as the window frame color that the user selects, even if that changes. I selected System->WindowFrame as my background color, but it always remains a dark grey, regardless of what I have my window color set to. How else would I achieve what I want? I assumed I was doing it the correct way. Do I actually need code that gets the system window color and then apply it?

what I am trying to accomplish worked with the code in the last thread I posted a while back. I still am using this code, however, I changed the window size to work better and gave it a nicer background for the title screen of my project. Now what I am working on at the moment is making a settings form that has 2 labels. One for "Default" Layout and one for "Plain" layout. When default is at start, the default label is disabled, and when plain layout is clicked, the button is disabled and default button is enabled.Basically, this is a toggle switch for default or plain where if one is enabled, the option for it is disabled and the other is enabled. My problem is that when I switch from Plain back to default, the background Image will not switch back from the plain background color of "control"Here is my code:
