View 2 RepliesI'm trying to find the public delegates contained within a bas module in an assembly. I can identify the bas module, find nested types, methods, etc. but there seems to be no way to get nested delegates.
Note: 'GetNestedTypes' does not return delegates for bas modules.

I have found a lot of articles about Reflection and know how to create a class. I'm practicing how to work properly with the reflection to create a module/plugin-based application.So I found a simple example which is working great, but it isn't dynamic enough, 'cause it is hard-coded. I need to read all the .dll's from the application.startuppath & "modules" & *.dll and get there names (without the .dll).Code is was testing for practice returns the form (I know that this is not the correct way to call the dll dynamically):
vb.net
Imports System.Reflection Public Class Form1 Private Sub cmdOK_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdOK.Click Dim assemblylink As [Assembly] assemblylink = [Assembly].LoadFrom(Application.StartupPath & "/" & "LoginAssembly.dll") Dim LoginFrm As Form LoginFrm = assemblylink.CreateInstance("LoginAssembly.Login") LoginFrm.Show() End Sub
.NET I want to clone a value type's fields. How can i set a field value on a value type using reflection (or something else dynamically)?
This works for reference types but not for value types. I understand why but I don't know an alternative.
shared function clone(of t)(original as t) as t
dim cloned as t
'if class then execute parameterless constructor

I've got a set of static "enumeration" classes that I'm using to hold meaningful variable names to represent meaningless code values I receive on an input file. Here's an example of one.
Public Class ReasonCodeValue
Private Sub New()
End Sub
[code].....
This is probably a simple one but I can't seem to figure it out. I have a bunch of form items created by the form designer declared as (in frmAquRun.Designer.vb)

I cannot get the following to work for me: its the section that sets the default for system.data.linq.binary. The database I work with doesn't allow nulls in any field. So I generally run my buffer through this routine to populate defaults and then set the real values independently, (this works when I miss a field). I can set the Linq table field = fakeBinary and it works like a charm. Thus, I don't understand why using reflection can't pull of the same thing.
Ex: Me.CM20500WindowBuffer.Reconcile_Messages = New Byte() {0} works.
Try
Dim fakeBinary As System.Byte() = {0}
For Each fld In nObj.GetType().GetProperties
Select Case fld.PropertyType
Case GetType(Byte)

I need to set a field that i have dumped into a dictionary to a value that is always a string, (well, it came from an xmlElement, so the .value is a string)
Function setMembers(ByRef ClssObj As Object, ByRef nLinkObj as Object, ByRef xml As XElement) as integer
Dim fields As New Dictionary(Of String, FieldInfo)

I declare a variable as FRIEND in a Module. Then I instantiate that variable in a Sub in the Module. After the Sub runs, when I try to access that Variable, it is always NULL (Nothing).
Module MODULE_Main
Friend MyClass1 As Class1
Friend Sub Main()
[code]....
How do I get MyClass1 to persist, meaning how do I get access to that variable outside of the Sub that instantiates it?
I have an open database (dataset) with two tables. It is binded to toolboxes, but I have one field, what I have to calculate about other parameters. I have binding navigator, and I can set field values from controls (eg. toolbox). I can step my rows, with binding navigator. I can update my database. But how can I set field value from code?
I want a code line:
database.fields("fieldname") = something - or something like this
I have a databound ComboBox on my form. Is there any way that I can make the first field blank.
I can do this with a DropDownList in the HTML part of .Net but is there a way to do it for a ComboBox?
I'm using vb.net 2005. I've a textbox , a hidden field and a button. My textbox is setted to password mode. While editing an existing password, in order to display the password in password mode, i wrote txtPassword.Attributes.Add("value", strpassword)
View 6 RepliesHow does one set Originator (or From field) in an e-mail. I have tried setting RecipType to 0 together with RecipAddress and RecipDisplayName but keep getting an error when I try to set the RecipType to 0. Does anyone know how to do this and why is there such a woeful lack of documentation on this control?
View 1 RepliesIm writing an app which connects to a SQL Server database, via datasources / datatable.When Im looking at my .xsd I can see DataTables containing DataColumns. Each DataColumn has a 'NullValue' property which defaults to '(Throw exception)'.Because I have nulls in my tables I have gone through the fields and set all System.String fields to NullValue = 'Empty', System.int32 field to NullValue = 0.
View 1 RepliesIm pretty use to doing loops (although still relative new to vb) in my code however am having difficulty setting up one that picks up an entry in one data table and then sums a field in another where records have matching criteria. Example:
[Code]...
What i am trying to do is set up a datagridview on a form that shows the summary data. The time is controlled on the form by a trackbar (output to textbox) and I started setting up a loop using (For/Next) to isolate firstly the matching entries in field 3 (time). This works fine. I then used compute to sum the the field 2. However what i want to do is to loop through table 2 and where entries match i.e. where Field 1 in table 2="A" sum matching entries in table 1 where the DateTime matches.
how we can declare a connectionstring in a module and call that module

In our projects we use setting variables to store user setting for the applications. Moreover, with every latest version of the applications, we upgrade these variables to retain user settings.Normally, this works fine, but recently one of my end user reported an error i.e.Configuration System failed to initialize". The error is related to user.config file. Therefore we requested the user to send us his file.After received the folder, we noticed that it contains 3 files (3begfjb.newcfg,3begfjb.tmp and user. config). 3begfjb.tmp is an empty file, while 3begfjb.newcfg and user.config are identical files. We tried to open these files but the data in user.config isn't proper xml rather its unreadable formatted file.Do any you guys had experienced this sort of issue or any ideas how and what may have created these files and corrupted user.config file.
View 3 RepliesI am building a data based application using VB 2008 an SQL Express. I need to create textboxes on my form using code, (With & End With) method. I need a simple code string that will allow the app to check if the field to wich the textbox wil be databound is Nul, If so the textbox will not be created.

I'm working in vb.net creating an asp.net web application. I have an SqlDataSource and a GridView on my page.
I want to change the DoNotMail boolean value represented by a Gridview checkbox and automatically update in the database if the checkbox is checked from 0 (False, Will Mail) to 1 (True, Won't Mail) here is the code I used. [code]...
is it possible to do a two way sync on the entire gridview when the user hits a button so you don't have to do an update every time a row is changed? because the user might check the box and then check another box then uncheck a box and it would be a lot of updates...

View 1 RepliesI am trying to edit a dbf table. I would like to be able to rename field headings and change the field type, ie string or dbl, and the size of the field. is this possible to do with vb.net. I have connected to the dbf file but after that am lost on what to do.
View 3 RepliesI'm wondering if there's a way to use Reflection to inspect properties of a COM object? GetType() doesn't want to return the actual type.
View 3 RepliesI have been trying to use reflection to get at all variables I have in classes. I have a bunch of classes and they all use private fields, with public properties to access these private variables.I have used the method Type.getFields() to get to all the public fields, but it doesnt return anything. It seems to completely ignore properties. If I add some test public variables as normal, it picks these up, however I was hoping to keep using the public properties in these classes.
Is there anyway to force the Type.getFields() to pick up on public properties? I see it has some binding flags, and one for getProperty, however it doesnt seem to work.

I am trying to build a test app to test my objects. I want it to get all the classes/modules from a project/exe/dll then display the methods and allow them to be invoked. I can get a list from the running project, a dll or exe. But I am having trouble filtering.

I have inherited a large project written in a mixture of C# and VB.Net
The project involves many separate assemblies.
There are hundreds (or thousands) of resources (png files) that have been inserted into the project using the VB My.Resources functionality that I would like to access from some C# code, in a different assembly.
Microsoft has a KB article about this. It includes some sample code, but I can't get it to work (and I can't quite follow the code).
// Gets a reference to the same assembly that
// contains the type that is creating the ResourceManager.
System.Reflection.Assembly myAssembly;

.net - Using reflection in C# to try and access My.Resources
View 2 RepliesI am using System.Reflection to load a type that I cannot otherwise load during design time. I need to pull all controls within a collection of this type, however, i the OfType command doesn't seem to like the reflection Syntax. here is "close to" what I got.
Dim ControlType As Type = System.Reflection.Assembly.GetAssembly( _
GetType(MyAssembly.MyControl)) _
.GetType("MyAssembly.MyUnexposedControl")
Dim Matches as List(Of Control) = MyBaseControl.Controls.OfType(Of ControlType)
So that code is bogus, it doesn't work, but you get the idea of what I am trying to do. So is there a way to use reflection and get all of the controls that are of that type?
I know how to get the properties using reflection but how would you get the function name and type of a property:
For Example: Combobox.Items.Add
I would like to get the info. for "Add" with reflection. Is this possible in .Net?
