Setting Location Of ListView?

I'm working on the Inventory section of the project I'm working on. This particular form holds a tab control, by default it has 2 tabs one named General, and the other named "New..". When the user clicks the New tab an input box opens to collect the name for the new Department, it then changes the name of the current "New.." tab, and then adds another tab and names it "New..". This process continues until they reach their limit of departments. The problem is that when the tab gets renamed, a listview control needs to be added into the tab. Adding the new control is simple, but setting it's position as the one in the previous tab has seemed to elude me. This is what I've tried.

I have a second form that loads when the main form loads. It sits behind the main form, is mainly transparent and does not allow interaction from the User.
Its as if the form is on the desktop, which is what I'm going for.
I set the location of the form to be in the top right hand corner of the desktop. On my PC, which is a 23" monitor, it works and looks great. But when I use my application on a notebook or a smaller screen, the form gets cut off. Why is obvious, because of the screen size differences.
What I want to know is how I might set the form to a more... definitive position. Rather, relative to the size of the screen.
I haven't searched much yet, but maybe there is a way to set the location of the form to a specific location of the desktop, not relative to the size of the screen.

I have a single form that I would like to move across the screen with my VB program. Of course it's simple to set the location X and Y property for compile time using the properties tab, but I want the form to move as the program runschanging the coordinates within a for-next loop.I can easily get the X and Y coordinates of the form within my program by using X = me.location where X has been dimmed as type point.console.writeline(X) will appear as {X=20, Y=40}. for example

I'm working on a vb 2010 project where I am playing mpeg movies using the Media Player control.The computer has dual heads (extending windows desktop to other display). I have a simple exe that loads a page from my site in a webbrowser where users need to enter login details to get on a secure page. Now everything works ok, except I have to use php for this and yeah cookies. So, I want to know if it's possible to set a special location for the cookies, since as some members report, they clean the cookies daily and this makes my exe "forget" that they are logged in. Any way to store cookies on same location with the exe so it won't get deleted by 3rd party tools like ccleaner or so.

We're exporting a set of data using .net interop to Excel and our template file contains some images. Depending on the amount of columns we're exporting we want to position the image X pixels left of the last column depending on the image size/width. Using the record a macro function moving the Image around is a 'no op'. Setting the Shape.Left position also won't work.

I have two forms. These are a widgets that I made in VB .Net language. But I have a problem, what if the the display setting resolution is change to 800X600, 1024X768, 1280X800 and so fort? How can I maintain the location of my forms? My screen resolution that I'm is 1280X800. I locate the first widget in x.1000, y.20 and the other one is in x.1009, y.325. How can I make this location a generic location for my widgets?

VS 2008, vb.net, Win7 development machine. I've developed a Windows application with several different forms, and am using the My.Settings feature. This is the first time that I have used this feature. For each form, I have set the form's property binding 'location' property to an entry in 'settings' of My Project settings page of the VS 2008 development environment. The settings are set to user scope.
1.) Do I need to add any code to my application to make the settings work, or is it sufficient that I have the "Save My.Settings on shutdown" set to true?
2.) When I create my setup to install the application, what settings file (app.config?) do I install to the user's machine, and what folder should it be installed to?

Just started using the Windows Browser in one of my forms so the user can select a photo they need to load. This was surprisingly easy (This seems to be the norm in Basic, if you think it will be hard it isn't and visa versa). What I am struggling with is how to set the default location to 'Computer' rather than a disk letter and directory name. The photo is most likely to be on a card reader or Memory stick so the drive letter is likely to change.
I am guessing the command will be:
OpenFileDialog1.InitialDirectory = ???????

My application uses a ListView control to display some data from a database, and I would like to make the height of the row bigger (it is in the 'Detail' view).As you can see the rows are quite slim and rather ugly :P And I can't find a way to change the height of them in the properties for the ListView.[code]Which I can imagine working in .NET (even though it's C#) but it is obviously very very hacky.

I have a problem setting the checked state of checkboxes in a listview programmatically.
Background: I have a Windows Form Application which uses CheckedListBox�s. The names/labels for each CheckBox in the list are imported for a database. Also in the database is a field which defines whether the CheckBox should be Checked or Unchecked. The program works fine.
Problem: My requirement is to add a tooltip to each item in the list of checkboxes. I have read that the best/easiest way to do this is to use a ListView instead of the CheckedListBox. I have setup a ListView with CheckBoxes = True and View = Details. I have populated the ListView with the items from my database. The ListView now looks exactly like the CheckedListBox and the tooltips work fine.
My problem is that I can�t seem to find a way of setting the CheckBox�s to Checked programmatically. Is there a way to do this, or is there a better way of achieving what I am trying to do?

i am using an unbound datagridview so i can dynamiclly add rows. all that is working fine. but the grid is not is the location i have coded.. i am using the defualt form as a base then coding the unbound stuff in.. should i just create a blank class file and do everything? the only problem i am having is the grid must bees in the correct location according to the pixel point that i have given it. Right now it is placing the grid at point (0,0) no matter what point is entered on the line for location. so what am i missing??????

I have 2 group box components and both are same size,font,location and visible is false. When i click button2, the groupbox1 won't appear(the group box2 is on bottom n group box1 is on top).
Example:

groupbox1.visible=false
groupbox2.visible=true
button2
groupbox1.visible=true
groupbox2.visible=false
Because i want to show the different,so the location have a little different(actually both are same location). I think my code is no problem. The problem i guess is both component cannot locate at same location?

we have a user that my program works fine for.. and another that it just crashes for.. they get this error
"You cannot start application <App_Name> from this location because it is already installed from a different location."
then they run it up again and it comes up.. and then just closes..in reading some stuff online it says its a framework 2.0 sp 1 issue ?these pc's have 3.5, but my program uses all 2.0 stuff..so is this a 2.0 sp level issue ? or should I make my programs start to use framework 3.0 instead ?

I was using this old method of creating a bunch of rectangles when I need to get the location of a certain point within a grid so I could draw images on the grid. The thing is, I don't want to use rectangles, I want to be able to just round the location as if I were using rectangles. I need it to be able to round the point (66,70) to (50,50) so if you can imagine a grid and the mouse position being within that square in the grid, I need to get the location of the upper left corner of that square.

I have encounterd a problem when trying to re-enstall a program i have writen in vb 2008.I get the following message:"You cannot start application Shell from this location because it is already installed from a different location."This program is to be used on many workstation computers and i need to be able to update any changes by just reinstalling the program, no uninstalling needed first. If the program was installed from a cd first and needs to be updated from a flash disk this error will be a problem, if the update is from a cd as well then there is no problem.Is there a way to change the installation package to ignore where the program installs from and just update itself?

I'm trying to copy a picture from one location and paste it into another location however VB throws out the following error
Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A0046 (CTL_E_PERMISSIONDENIED)

In our projects we use setting variables to store user setting for the applications. Moreover, with every latest version of the applications, we upgrade these variables to retain user settings.Normally, this works fine, but recently one of my end user reported an error i.e.Configuration System failed to initialize". The error is related to user.config file. Therefore we requested the user to send us his file.After received the folder, we noticed that it contains 3 files (3begfjb.newcfg,3begfjb.tmp and user. config). 3begfjb.tmp is an empty file, while 3begfjb.newcfg and user.config are identical files. We tried to open these files but the data in user.config isn't proper xml rather its unreadable formatted file.Do any you guys had experienced this sort of issue or any ideas how and what may have created these files and corrupted user.config file.
