The only way I found to set the focus on a TextBox inside a TabPage is:

VB.NET Windows Forms Project, VS2010.I have a tabcontrol with several tabpages and on each tabpage there is a textbox. I want the focus (and insertion point) to go to the end of the text in the textbox when the tab is selected. If I make a junky project with the following code in each tab, it works fine:

However, the same code is not working in my actual project. I am having trouble debugging, because if I step through, the breakpoints and IDE mean the focus events don't fire in the same order.
How do I make a certain tab inside TabControl to be active at form event?
For example, I want TabControl2 to be shown at form load.

OK in the frmMain_Load sub I have this: tab page control with two pages. On page 1 I have a textbox.I also have the following Set the focus to the first textbox control on the first tab page.txtbMonthlyUsage.Focus()I can not get the focus into the textbox although its Enabled = True, TabIndex = 1, TabStop = True.
With all that I can not get the focus to work.But when I activate the 2nd page and come back to the 1st page when the form is displayed, it works like its supposed to.What am I missing?Do I need to activate page 1 as the form is loading? How do I do that?
I have a problem setting focus to a textbox...My code is realy simple:

But this dos not work...I am pretty sure it is because when calling focus(), textbox1 is not visible yet, ant thous, focus has no effect?

View 9 RepliesEssentially what I would like to do is press a button, this then triggers a code to focus on a certain program, focus on a certain textbox and input the text from the clipboard not via pasting.
Now I have been able to achieve all of the above fairly easily except for one crucial component, focusing on the desired component. This program is essentially to automate some data entering for users via hotkeys, therefore I can't simply simulate tabs as it will not always be in the same position. So now comes the question, how do I focus on specific textboxes/controls in other programs?
I've been able to find huge walls of code with no explanation beyond "this is a concept". However no documentation or relevant examples.
I cant seem to get VB to focus on a textbox correctly at the moment I did

remove the tabs from the TabControl and just buttons to control which screen is shown.Ive coded a form that uses buttons to hide and show panels but because you cant click buttons in design view, its extremely hard to edit the content in the panels.
View 1 RepliesI have a weird problem (probably only to understand) why in a test app the focus rect is not shown until I press the tab key. I want to show a dialog with two radioboxes and two buttons. When I display the dialog, I'd like to see a focus rect around my first radiobutton. (So that the user can see where the focus is.) I ordered the controls and set the tabindex property from 0 to 4 so that they are in the correct order. (radiobox 1 has tabindex 0, ...). When I show the dialog the first radiobox has the focus, but it has no focus rect around it. (Until I press tab key.) I created an completely empty winforms project (Visual Studio 2010), added the controls and started it. So there is nothing special at all.

So I am playing around with the resize event. My form is 500 wide, my button.left is at 100. If I use:

The number in the texbox is correct - proportion wise, but it won't set the button1.Left to this number. I'm sure this is because int is a Double where .Left is an integer?

I am having problem setting focus on specific cell in my Datagridview1 . On Form1 when clicking on cell 3 in any row, I am callig a Dialog1. However, when done working with it, and closing the Dialog1, the focus returns to cell 3 in my Datagridview1 . I like to set the focus on the next cell(4) making it the current cell.
I have tryed :

And few other things, I am always getting this exception: Operation is not valid because it results in a reentrant call to the SetCurrentCellAddressCore function.
I have a created a program that allows the user to select an option button and that button takes them to the correct tab. Ive set all the tabs to visable = false untill the option button has been selected. The problem i am having is setting the focus, so the button sgoes to the tab instead of just making it visable again.
View 2 RepliesI have a textbox on a form that when it loses focus it updates other text boxes on the form. But before it updates the other textboxes I check the input value in the textbox lostfocus event if it is undesired I return focus to the the textbox and alert the the user with a msgbox. However where my problem is, is that when the cancel button is clicked I don't care what the input in the textbox is because the changes are being canceled but if the value is undesired the it keeps returning focus to the textbox instead of canceling the changes. Is there a way to see what control was clicked on before or in the lost focus event? Can't seem to figure it out tried enter and leave events but no luck!

I have a Tabcontrol, and when the program loads it adds a tab. Inside this tab goes a panel (url, back, etc buttons to be added to it) and a webbrowser control.Problem is the panel docks to the top and when you fill the webrowser control the webbrowser goes behind the panel and not under it so the top is cut off.[code]Or anyone know how to remove the tabcontrol from the tabpages so theres a gap in-between to input this panel.

In the program that i'm working now a button create's a new tab witch contains 5 labels and 2 buttons.Of these 5 labels 3 have fixed text but 2 of them have variable text witch i need to save and reload at startup each time(until tab is deleted)
i figured out how to save tab's and make them reload at startup and suceded on saving the 2 labels text in a specialized stringcollection but on startup it only load's the last memorized string in the selected tab , the other tabs label's are blank.
how to load the other labes text?
I have 3 group boxes on a form. Each group box contains a single Button and several RadioButtons - each RadioButton has an associated TextBox control. Changing RadioButton in a given GroupBox enables or disables the associated TextBox control in that GroupBox. There is also a RichTextBox on the form and the contents of the RichTextBox change depending on which GroupBox contains the active control.
I am trying to use the GroupBox_Enter event to cause the RichTextBox content to be updated. When the user uses a mouse click to move to a new GroupBox the RichTextBox changes as expected (desired) but if the user tabs from the last control in the prior GroupBox to the first control in the new GroupBox it doesn't, it gets stuck one GroupBox behind. I am using a tabcontrol to put all my database tables as I don't want to have too many forms. I tried to set up the search form function by watching a video by Beth Messi called "Creating a search form" under form over data video series. After I finished setting up everthing accordingly, the tool strip appeared bellow the window form title bar. May I know how can I move it into the tabpage?
View 8 RepliesI updated a VS2008 vb.net application to VS2010 targeting the .Net 3.5 framework. This application has a windows form that contains a tab control. This tab control contains 6 tab pages. The tab control's tab pages contain group boxes. The group boxes have their anchor property set to Top, Bottom, Left and Right. The tab control's anchor property is also set to Top, Bottom, Left and Right.
When I open this form in VS2010 and resize the form, the tab control is automatically resized. The group boxes inside each tab page appear to automatically resize. If I close the form and immediately reopen it and click through each tab page; the first tab page's group box is resized, but each of the other tab pages's group box has not been resized.
I reported this issue through Microsoft Connect - [URL]. This worked in VS2003, VS2005, VS2008 but was broken in VS2010. I really want the behavior that existed in the previous versions of visual studio. Right now, I have to manually resize each individual group box every time I bring up the form in the designer.

The Wafer_Info.Enabled = True is used to enabled all of the controls on the Wafer tab and works properly when the button is clicked. I have tried using .Focus() and .Show() to bring focus to the next tab but I am not have any luck getting to switch.

I have a Visual Basic Program that, when I enter data into a textbox, uses LEAVE events to update it. However, it will not update until I go to another textbox or press a button or other similar control.This also happens when using the LOST FOCUS event.How can I make the textbox update (be it doing a financial recalculation or some other custom function) happen when the user clicks/tabs out of the textbox and NOT having to click on a button or into another textbox?Do you recommend having a separate button for performing the custom functions?
