Before storing information into the database I encrypt strings. It's the problem, is it possible to generate and show these encrypted data in CrystalReporter? (I want to show decrypted data)

I am attempting to find some code to use in VB.NET to decrypt a string that has been encrypted using the Java crypto libary.All of the code I have found so far uses an Initialisation Vector and Key to decrypt but the string has been encrypted using the Key only. (Using an Initialisation Vector is apperently an optional step in Java).Does anyone know of code that I can use (preferably in VB.NET but i could convert C#) to decrypt AES 128 Bit encoded string without an Initialisation Vector?

I have the encryption and decryption code but it is in the same program and only work during the instance it is open. The intention is to have a program that will encrypt and send the data to the FTP Server. There will also be a VB Script on the server to decrypt the data and store it in a separate location. How do I get it to store the public key on my computer and the private key on the server? Also, how to I transfer the encrypted data over to the FTP and have it saved there?The purpose of this project is that we have people located over the globe and are sending sensitive information to an FTP server at the home office. My boss has insisted on the data being encrypted before sending anything. But, on the server it will be decrypted so that a select few can go through the information.
View 2 RepliesI'm attempting to use symmetric encryption to encrypt some data, and store the key necessary to decrypt with the data in a MemoryStream. (While I know that this alone is really dumb security-wise, I'm going to use RSA to encrypt the symmetric key. Right now, though, I'm trying to just get this part to work.)I'm using the FileHelpers library to parse the data for my delimiter (the semicolon, as I don't believe I'll ever have a semicolon in the data). Unfortunately, in my decryption function, when it's parsing, it only returns back one record. And, if I show the entire string of encrypted data created at the end of this function, it doesn't appear to be using multiple records.I'm wondering if when I create the new cryptostream, it's defaulting to the beginning of the memory stream, so when I write my encrypted data, it overwrites the data I had just written to the memory stream.[code]

How should I rewrite my code if I want to upload without creating a temporary file and by using stream? My FTP client is able to upload from stream. My FTP client uses PutFile method to upload files ('Upload from stream by StarkSoft ftp.net in my code)

I am using Visual Basic express to create a serial interface to a multi-room audio controller. I have started by creating a form that can connect to the controller and I can type commands into a text box and have set up a button that sends that text to the serial port. This text is displayed in a big text box as well as the feed back from the serial port (multirom audio controller).
Here is an example of what I send and receive to and from the controller;
I send *Z01STATUS (query's the Zone 1 status of the controller)I then receive the data from the controller #Z01PWRON,SRC4,VOL99 (This tells me Zone 1 is on, Source 4 is selected and the volume is at level 99 I can easily create buttons to turn the zones on and off and control the unit. My problem is I want to make things change on my form coresponding to the data received. ie I want to display the current volume of each zone and whether thetay are on or off etc. How do I get the individual bits of data from the data received. IE how do I get the VOL99 to show 99 in a text box?
I would like to know how I could encrypt the url and store the encrypted value in the dll?
And I would also like to decrypt it from the dll when I need it for later?
i am trying to decrypt a file that was encrypted with Des. However not all of the file is encrypted just a few lines are. Here is an example of the file im trying to decrypt:

Encrypted Text
MD5 Hash
Encryption Key(Only there for tests)
Number of encrypted lines
The idea is to read the last three lines into variables and use them to decrypt the text. At the moment i use the number of lines - (the number of encrypted lines + 3) to find where the encrypted text starts. Then i was trying to copy the encrypted text to a temp file so i could run the code bellow on it, however i am getting an encoding error apparently i need to be using base64 or something. So my question is can anybody explain to me or show me how i can pull the encrypted text out of the file so that i can use the code bellow on it.

I am using streamreader to read a file that is encrypted using PGP netshare. The file opens fine on my PC and i can read the file using Streamreader when it is unencrypted, but when i add it to an encrypted folder, I get back gibberish when the file is read. Working in VB in VS 2008 I'm trying to read from an Excel file using Oledb. I have no problem with it when the file is not encrypted, but the client has set a password on the working copy.
I read elsewhere that it's not possible to read an encrypted Excel file this way, but I find that hard to believe.
I need to be able to accept a password from a user in a WPF app, encrypt it then store this in a database and be able to decrypt later on. However I'm not sure how to implement this.

View 2 RepliesI've been receiving pdf files that I have been processing with the PDFsharp libraries. These files where 128-bit RC4 encrypted. Now I getting files that are 128-bit AES encyption.
I'm getting this exception "The PDF document is protected with an encryption not supported by PDFsharp."
Is AES just not supported, or do I need to change the method in which I open the file? [code]...
i came up to create my own because i need to encrypt 10character string and i want it to output also 10character string..security is not my concerned here..what i want is encrypted string is not readable by the user or is not obvious to user.. is this possible by the use of Xor method?..BTW,its better if the output is alphanumeric.
