I want to write a very simple application, containing a pop-up menu when user click on it, that will appear in windows task bar, exactly like language bar, this is the only need. it does not contain any more functionality at the time being. Does anybody know where to start or do you have any sample code for it.
I am an intermediate programmer with a basic understanding of VB.NET, however, I am having a problem with a special loop named "recursive".
To select the 3rd subitem/node inside a control named "CrumbBar", I have to: CrumbBar1.SelectedItem = CrumbBar1.Items(0).SubItems(0) CrumbBar1.SelectedItem = CrumbBar1.Items(0).SubItems(0).SubItems(1) CrumbBar1.SelectedItem = CrumbBar1.Items(0).SubItems(0).SubItems(1).SubItems(2)
And go through all items, but I need to do this in a LOOP. And I don't know how many nodes I will have to go inside. So I wanna know how can I loop the above code?
I just learned some basics of multi threading in VB.net recently as I came across processing a large List of records and inserting them into SQL database one by one.
I have code look like this:
Private Sub btnLoadNow_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnLoadNow.Click
Dim autoLoad1 As New Thread(AddressOf AutoLoad) autoLoad1.Start()
[CODE]...
Itemlists is a global lists i retrieved from database, everything looks fine to me but when i run this program, I found that the threads are inserting one records 9 times into the database(I have 9 threads in total), which makes me think that maybe i need to specifically assign 1/9 of a list to each thread? Is there another way to do it which doesn't require the splitting of the list, if not , how do i split it then assign?
Im a college student and this is my first programming class, i am having extremely diffcult time with arrays and sequential file processing. Im not asking for the whole program, just something to get me started and hints along as i progress with it. Please help me get started on my program, its due in 2 days.
Here are the requirements....
1. The program must input any number of individuals last and first names using two separate textboxes. 2. The array of names must be sorted by the last name using a bubble sort. You must code the sort. 3. The program must be able to recall the names from the file and add to the existing list of names so that more names can be added to, sorted, and written back to the file in sorted order. 4. Sort in ascending order: A to Z 5. All names must be displayed in a listbox in sorted order when the user wishes to see them. 6. In the listbox the last and first names must be separated by a comma and a space. Example: Smith, Mary 7. The user must be able to search for a name in the array, using the binary search algorithm. You must code the search. 8. Do not use module-level variables. Instead you may choose to use Static. 9. The program must be designed using Visual Basic 2008
I have an application that gets terms from a DB to run as a list of string terms. The DB table was set up with nvarchar for that column to include all foreign characters. Now in some cases where characters like ä will come through clearly when getting the terms from the DB and even show that way in the table. When importing japanese or arabic characters, all I see are ? Now I have tried converting it using different methods, first converting it into utf8 encoding and then back and also secondly using the httputility.htmlencode which works perfectly when it is these characters but then converts quotes and other stuff which I dont need it to do. Now I accused the db designer that he needs to do something on his part but am I wrong in that the DB should display all these characters and make it easy to just query it and add to my ssearch list. If not is there a consistent way of getting all international characters to display correctly in SQL and VB.net
I know when I have read from text files I just used the Microsoft.visualbasic.textfieldparser reader tool with encoding set to utf8 and this would not be an issue.
i would like to create/open/edit/save microsoft word document from my vb.net application. Is there any text/word processing control/component or library in vb.net ? as third party tool 'tx text control'Developer
I am currently creating a merging program which is processing multiple text files with header. I've manage to merge the text files but I'm stuck with the header that needs computation. path of input files and header explanation: Input Files After merging, I need to put back the header, adding up each values, which I explained in the path above. How can I do that?
Here's my current code: Imports System.IO Public Class Form1 Dim openFolder As New FolderBrowserDialog 'The routines must be [Code] .....
Rather complicated question here. I am improving the text coloring in my custom RTB ontrol, and it is pretty simple:Quote:1. Disable drawing (SetDrawing(False))2. Get current selection 3. Select lines to colorize4. Process selection RTa Font object.
I created form2 in which there was a Label to display processing status text. In form1 right before serial port ran I used Form2.Show() and Form2.TopMost = True to display processing status. However only blank Form2 was displayed without any text inside, which means the Label in Form2 was not running. But after serial operation was done, the text in form2 came up, at which time I need to close it.
I have created a GUI for controlling a device in VB.The VB GUI has a bunch of intelligence behind each button push to determine exactly what command need to be executed. he commands are then written to a perl file (the communication to theoard is in a perl package), and the script is executed. This works consistently for us, but has severe performance issues.he issue I have is that the underlying perl package can take up to 30 seconds to read into the perl interpreter.
I'm need to run a perl script from my application and detect when it's done. I plan to check if it's done with a timer so I hear I need to use WaitForSingleObject to detect it's finished
Secondly, this might be the wrong place but I'm asking anyway, I want to send the perl's output to a file so I can read it in when it's done but that part of it isn't working correctly, the exact same string typed into a cmd.exe window works correctly but the shell command still sends the output to the dos window and doesn't generate the file.
NOTE: This is just a test program, it's not how I'm going to do it in the real app.
Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
In perl you can write $string =~ tr/[a,e,i,o,u,y]/[A,E,I,O,U,Y]/; for example. Is it possible to achieve the same "translation" effects with VB.Net regexes? PS: I'm not searching for a way to port this very example, it's more of a curiosity question :)
I have this Quiz software that lets you create online multiple choice quizzes which are great for studying (I am in grad school and I'm trying to use everything I can to learn). So the Quiz software is great but it only lets you input questions by hand, one by one. I took a look at the .xml file that the quiz program spits out and came up with the idea to try and make a converter so that I can import many questions at once. I was hoping to try and solve this limitation by doing the following:
Take a .doc that say a tutor gives us with a bunch of practice questions, and then take that into Crimson Editor, and then format it so the question is on line 1, the multiple choice answers are on lines 3,4,5, and 6, (for the next question, the question would be on line 11, and the answers on lines 13, 14, 15, and 16, and so on) and then take that saved .txt file into my program, hit the generate button, and it will spit out the .xml file, and then import that into the quiz software to generate the online quiz.
Here is an attached screenshot of my program layout so far:
I figured out how to open a text file by watching simple youtube tutorials, but I don't know how to have it generate the stuff and have it show up in the bottom text box. I know how to do the coding to convert the txt to proper xml code but I don't know how to be able to save the contents of the bottom text window to an xml file.
I'm using Visual Studio 08 and Vb.Net (3.5). I want to call a perl script. This perl script should get two values (that the user wrote into input-elements in the vb.net application). Then the perl script should return one or more strings (maybe a list or an array?). How can I do this?
I have a perl script i made to automatically telnet into different servers . but its interface is only command line. To make it more user friendly for general windows users , i need to make GUI for it . My idea is to make GUI in a language like VB,java ,etc and let that call perl script . my script will run in background in a command prompt and whatever the result it displays back in GUI.
Got some success. GUI in vb ,I run an instance of CMD in background ,run perl script in that .But that is wer program fails .As perl script runs in a thread for perl , i only get the output when script completes(rather say when it timeout). i need a mechanism where i can interact with the perl script , take output of script and show to user , then take input from user and so on .
is it guaranted that a task A started before TaskB will be completed before task B assuming the task do the same level of operatons?or in other words is there a chance that a task B will finish before tast A in the assumption that the task calls the same procedure?
I would like to know the Handle of every tournament open of PokerStars.
The problem is that even if I open 100 tournaments at the same time, there is ONLY ONE running process called "PokerStars.exe".....
So I cant' use the
Dim MyProcess As Process() = Process.GetProcessesByName("PokerStars") hwnd = MyProcess(0).MainWindowHandle because I obtain only one hwnd... the hwnd of the last clicked tournament table.
So I think: every table has it button on the task bar, with the text of the table window.
If I should be able to retrieve that text, may be starting from the text I can find every table handle with some API.
i want to create an exe in vb.net by packaging few perl files along with it. when i am packaging those files i am able to hide those files by making the hide option true. but if the 'show hidden files' is selected those files will be visible. I want to lock/prevent the user from opening the perl file/code. want to know if there is any way to do it.
I'm trying to make a vb.net application that has got 2 textboxes, 7 radio buttons and 2 buttons(one named compile and the other 'run'). How can I load the content of a C/C++(or any programming language) file into the 1st textbox and on clicking the compile button, i should be able to show the errors or the C/C++ program in the 2nd textbox. On clicking Run, I should be able to show the output in the 2nd textbox. In short, I want to use the 2nd textbox as a terminal/console. The radio buttons are 4 selecting the language C or C++ or python or C# or java or perl or vb.R d compilers of all these languages present in .net?
basically the user enters phrases into the textboxes, and i use <TAG> in the text so that every time button is clicked the selected text is rewritten including a phrase from the textbox.
So basically, I now how to do the whole text to speech thing with the following Button
VB Dim SAPI SAPI = CreateObject("SAPI.spvoice") SAPI.Speak(TextBox1.Text)
But is there any way to get it to read other writing systems, such as Korean Is there some sort of software or some addon or something I can install? Perhaps a Korean version of Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, or something?I'm really at a loss here, and it would help me out a lot if there's a solution out there that someone can think of.
I have a dbase.txt file with some data in it. i.e -
Institution Course StudentID XZY ABC 2010-1111111 "the spaces between columns is one tab space" XYZ ABC 2010-1222222 XYZ ABC 2010-1333333
I want to perform simple SQL like operation - i.e - SELECT * FROM dbase.txt or SELECT Institution FROM dbase.txt WHERE StudentID=2010-1111111 and an insert operation like - INSERT dbase.txt VALUES (XYZ ABC 2010-1444444)
I have written some code which is not even closer to what I mentioned above. My program can read only the whole text file. There is a menu, but not functioning well, as well as my write function which is not working at all.
Below is my code - Imports System.IO Module Module1 Sub Main() Dim intInput As Integer Console.WriteLine("Main Menu") [Code] .....
Is there a way to print simple text in Courier New? No pictures, no fancy fonts, it's all the same size, and no margins, etc. Is there a VB.NET function for this?
