Using the datetime function to determine lapse time. (Subtracting one from another.) Then placing the answer into two text boxes one with the date and one with the time, later to be placed in a database as two seperate fields. Was thinking I could convert the date/time to a string if necessary then use simple stringmanipulation.... however fear it won't be good programming and will effect resources and end program speed.

I want to save datetimepicker value of date and time in two separate text files. Currently, when I select a date from datetimepicker and save it in a text file it saves both date and time as below:

How can I modify the time only to say 12:00:00 PM. By doing so I would like to keep time as 12:00:00 but date can be changed by the user using the datetime picker.
I created a telephone number form where the user enters the telephone number in a text box as (nnn) nnn-nnnn. The first 3 digits in parenthesis are the ISD code, the next three are the area code and the last four are the local number. I need to separate out these three fields of the phone number and display in three separate text boxes labeled appropriately. Now, suppose the user enters the phone number in a text box as a continuous string of 10 digits, where the first three represent the ISD code, the next three represent the area code and the last four represent the local number. I want to split each line at the comma and write the left side to a textbox and the the right side to another textbox. I'm close, with the code below, but I can only post results from the first line in the file. How do I loop this and append the text results in each of the textboxes.

I am using VB 2008 and want to record a start date and time and then the stop date and time in a rich text box, i can get the start time into the box but so far can only stop the time instead of 2 seperate times, what i have is a drop down box with a list of computers 1-10 i was trying to get it so you picked a certain computer and that went into the text box then you started the timer and that was recorded, finally you stopped the timer and that was recorded but as i am a total newbie it does not work

I want to be able to have a dozen or so text boxes be emptied into separate columns in a row of a datagridview. This way the text boxes can be cleared and have new values entered then save the new values as a second row in the datagridview. This is so my VB gui which which runs everything through an old cmd line program, can do batches instead of one run at a time.
The problem is I have absolutely no idea how datagridview works. I've tried searching google and only found some vague things and stuff about databases. I also tried the MSDN library and that was of no help either, couldn't find anything on simply adding stuff and if I had it'd probably be to complicated to be of use to me.
I'll get straight to my problem - I'm currently coding in Visual Studio.I have a table (countries) with the columns ID | Name. The table is filled with around 28 records.I also have a form with 4 combo boxes (set up as 1,2,3 & 4) that I want the user to select. These combo boxes will display the names from the table countries. I then want to use the selected names in the combo boxes to Insert into their corresponding ID into another table. For example England would have the ID 1, USA the ID 2 etc.So, is it possible to have separate combo boxes that will give separate ID values but using the same table? At the moment I can't seem to find a solution.Eventually the form will have more than 4 combo boxes so I don't want to use separate bindingsources for each combo box.

1: Created a GroupBox
2: Put a DateTimePicker in the GroupBox
3: Put TextBoxs in the GroupBox
4: Changed the DateTimePicker to look like this:
A)Checked - False
B)Allow Drop - True
I thought that if I changed that, then the text in the text box would go to that specific date. It didn't do that, it just stays the same. What I'm trying to do is enter text in say 3/7/11 and when I choose date 6/12/12 it will display blank text boxes for me to enter something different.

What i am looking to do is to be able to save/load all the values filled into a form. For example The user has entered the

And then saves. When the come back and load this i want to be able to load it back exactly like that so the can continue with what they are doing. I am uploading files to a directory and I am also just getting the file itself not the directory and the folders. For example I am getting only this 6122002_Abstract_9-11-07.pdf by using this code hpf.FileName.Substring(hpf.FileName.LastIndexOf("") + 1). I'm updating an old VB net application and trying to refactor some of the logic as I go. The app looks for data from a single date across a few tables and writes that view to a file.
Writing the query in SQL I'd get the equivalent of
SELECT * FROM table
WHERE CAST(FLOOR(CAST(table.date AS float))AS datetime) = '15-Jul-2010'
Ideally I'd use
SELECT * FROM table WHERE date=@input
and add a date object as a parameter to a System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand instance

I'm try to come up with a way for a user to enter a date and time into a textbox and for that value to be saved as a datetime variable back into a database. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a clever way to restrict what values a the user can enter so that the datetime datatype isn't corrupted. I've been playing around with the date time picker but I cannot seem to get that to work for me. I'd like the user to either pick the date and time from a picker and save that into a variable. Or I've seen applications where the textbox will automatically have a formatting type of template that makes it hard for the user to enter an invalid date and time.
