My assignment is to have a user enter in big integers using what i think is two parallel arrays. I got this far but now im stuck. I think i need to actually convert the text box input into an array but i do not know how to do that. I am all over the place in this project.

I created a telephone number form where the user enters the telephone number in a text box as (nnn) nnn-nnnn. The first 3 digits in parenthesis are the ISD code, the next three are the area code and the last four are the local number. I need to separate out these three fields of the phone number and display in three separate text boxes labeled appropriately. Now, suppose the user enters the phone number in a text box as a continuous string of 10 digits, where the first three represent the ISD code, the next three represent the area code and the last four represent the local number. I have been trying to find out how to do this for days now, so I am finally asking how. I am newish to programming. Here is my problem.
I am trying to extract x,y,z coordinates from a text file arranged as such:
x,y,z
x,y,z
x,y,z
etc.
I need to be able to extract the x column into an array, the y into an array, and the z into an array. I learned how to pull it into a string, and how to split for every line, but i don't know how to split after each comma and separate them.

Using the datetime function to determine lapse time. (Subtracting one from another.) Then placing the answer into two text boxes one with the date and one with the time, later to be placed in a database as two seperate fields. Was thinking I could convert the date/time to a string if necessary then use simple stringmanipulation.... however fear it won't be good programming and will effect resources and end program speed.

I am writing a math game for my brother in Visual Basic to help him with double digit numbers(both adding and subtracting).Normally you solve a problem by writing right to left on a piece of paper. Is there any way of setting the text box to do this?
For Example:
58

You would type in the text box '6' followed by '7' so it would read '76'I set the right to left property but it does not do what I want it to do.

I want to be able to have a dozen or so text boxes be emptied into separate columns in a row of a datagridview. This way the text boxes can be cleared and have new values entered then save the new values as a second row in the datagridview. This is so my VB gui which which runs everything through an old cmd line program, can do batches instead of one run at a time.
The problem is I have absolutely no idea how datagridview works. I've tried searching google and only found some vague things and stuff about databases. I also tried the MSDN library and that was of no help either, couldn't find anything on simply adding stuff and if I had it'd probably be to complicated to be of use to me.

I'll get straight to my problem - I'm currently coding in Visual Studio.I have a table (countries) with the columns ID | Name. The table is filled with around 28 records.I also have a form with 4 combo boxes (set up as 1,2,3 & 4) that I want the user to select. These combo boxes will display the names from the table countries. I then want to use the selected names in the combo boxes to Insert into their corresponding ID into another table. For example England would have the ID 1, USA the ID 2 etc.So, is it possible to have separate combo boxes that will give separate ID values but using the same table? At the moment I can't seem to find a solution.Eventually the form will have more than 4 combo boxes so I don't want to use separate bindingsources for each combo box.

So I'm in the final stages of finishing a program I've been working on for nearly a year now, and this is basically my final hurdle. The Save dialogue is working beautifully, with 'flags' in order to switch it over from the regular input into text boxes to the Listbox input protocol.
However, I'm having a *** of a time getting it to take lines from the text file and put them in the proper text box. Here is an example file:

So with the sample file I provided above, in the textbox named callNameText would appear "SHOWNAME", and so on and so forth. With this build, I get a NullReferenceException on the "Me.Controls(strboxNames(i)).Text() = strAllText(ati)" line.

I want to put the matches from a regular expression into an array or something that i can use to compare it with another array, it being the lines from a txt file names "users.txt". Code A:

And the second code will do the exact same thing. What i want to do is compare each line in the Txt file (Code B) to the reg expression matches (Code A) and for it to alert me if any is missing. So it needs to compare Code B to Code A. (PS. Order is irrelevant, it can be in different places as long as its there) In my other thread i got a little confused and couldn't clearly communicate what i was trying to do.

I have to write an application that has the user input data in 3 separate text-boxes and press "OK" to save it. I have found a major bug with this game Ive been working on for some time. The best way to make this game would of likely been by using an array. Problem is I dont know how to use arrays that well and I don't understand them. So I used a lot of picture boxes and If statements.
So here is the problem. When you click on the box its suppose to check to see if its a bomb or block. If its a block it busts the block, if its a bomb it will explode. Now here is the problem. Each block is not holding its own value or "block type" which determines if its a bomb or block. So when you click on a block and lets say it says its a bomb, the next block you click rather if its a bomb or not will explode. So its not checking the block value you click. instead its just grabing the last value generated. I will only show you short blocks of code because the code was written in a pattern form and it just repeats its self. If you post a reponse, remember im still newb and try to post samples/solutions using code ive given.

I have 2 arrays. One is an array of images other an array of numbers. The images are card faces, (Card(i)), the integers are the corresponding values of the cards (Value(i)). I want to associate the card face with a corresponding value. However, everytime I do what I think is correct, I get an error stating that I cant convert an image to an integer and visa versa.

In the player vs computer tic tac toe game I've been working on there are 2 boolean arrays (one for the computer and one for the player) that track which cells have been taken. When all other moves have been exhausted I would like the computer to play a random cell. To do this I am trying to gather the indexes of all False values from the 2 arrays and add them to another dynamic integer array. The computer will then choose randomly from the new array. The two Boolean arrays are plyrTaken and cmptrTaken. The dynamic array is occupied.
Here I declared the arrays:
Public Class Form1
Private occupied() As Integer
Private plyrTaken(8) As Boolean
Private plyrPairs(14) As Boolean
Here I got the dynamic array ready for use:

And here is the code I have attempted:

In the last block of code I was just trying to print the contents of the array to a list box so I could see if it was working. Obviously, it's not. When one position is occupied the list box shows the occupied cell index with a Zero. This really shouldn't be there as I want only taken cell indexes to be sent to array and list box. When a second position is occupied 7 zeros are added to the list box. Kinda shows promise as 9 total cells - 2 is 7 but there should be index numbers other than zero to represent the cells that have been occupied.
Also, the indexes shouldn't keep adding on to the dynamic array I need a way to clear the array and resize it back to 0. I tried adding
Redim occupied(0)
to the top of the code but that didn't seem to work.

I'm in the middle of creating an application that will be used to input customer information whilst the customer is speaking to someone over the phone. This involves the customer giving the employee information such as name, address, postcode etc and the employee inputting that information into text boxes and combo boxes that are in the application.
What I would like to be able to do is after the customers information is given over the phone, I need to be able to send that information to a database which will probably most likely be done by button click. In this case, I'm using Microsoft Access. I'm also hoping that I can do this within Visual Basic coding.
The database is set out with multiple tables which include a customer table and a ticket table and both have multiple fields such as first name, surname in the customers table. Both of these tables are in use with the information that the customer gives over the phone.
I've already asked on other forums and people are where replying giving me third party programs that I could use to implement this, something I don't really want to do.
