I coded a small tcp server/client software implementing the async methods of the socket object. In order to keep track and control of the transfered data on both sides, I decided to wrap the bytes to be transfered into small 65 000 bytes packets, sent one after each other, in varying order.In most cases, it works perfectly, and it is impressively fast. However, when I want to transfer larger data than my usual requests, say like a dozen megabytes, crippling problems start to appear, out of shit.Effectively, it seems that somehow when executed without pauses, the server sends the packets too fast, or that the client receives it too slowly. However, if I put the SendAsync method's thread to sleep for like 100ms before sendingthe next packet, everything arrives without problem on the client.[code]

I converted some codes from python to VB 2010. My aim is sending query data to multicast IP and get the response. My query data receiving from device which is connected to my LAN. Also the device responding my query and my PC receiving the responce but at this point the VB program freezing.getting response data and printing to console without freezing.
This is the code list;

I am trying to implement SMPP protocol in vb. I am sucessfull in send and receiving packets using sockets. Now I would like to decentralize the functions of my program. I want to implement two programs one for sending and another for receiving using a single socket. I want to receive data through the same socket that was created in another process(i.e., the first program).

I need to include in my application that can receive connections from a client( or two).I am thinking, that I would like to have the clients send a "TelegramID" so that I may now how to process the code.Following the "TelegramID" would be a structure that would need to be processed.So far, I can use a single client and send just plain text but need some direction for my end goals.

I am having trouble with a socket client application written in vb.net using Visual Studio 2005. The client connects to a C language socket server that is running on OpenVMS. The problem that I have is that when the server sends a packet, the client does not receive the last byte (of every packet!). I can dump the packets on the network and the data is all there. My current solution is to keep my socket messages short (247 bytes) and send one extra byte past the end of my data.
I would like to include more information in my messages and I cannot find a way to make this work. If I knew 100% how long the packets will be on the network, I could work around this by including an extra byte in just the right places. However, I don't want to make any assumptions about the length of the packets.
Here is a sample of my client receive code:
Private Sub ReceiveMsg()
Dim nTotalBytes As Integer
Dim nNumBytes As Integer

I've looked through a lot of snippets online and I see a lot of things similar to
Dim bytes(tcpClient.ReceiveBufferSize) As Byte
networkStream.Read(bytes, 0, CInt(tcpClient.ReceiveBufferSize))
but what I am unsure of when to call such a thing? How do I know when there is data to receive...in visual basic 6 with winsock, there was a specific routine which was called upon data arrival, but I see nothing of the sort for vbNet.

While using the Socket.Receive method to receive messages through network, you should define a variable as the buffer and you have to specify the length like this: Code: Dim _ReadBuffer As Byte() = New Byte(LENGTH) {} My question is: What is the bad thing about increasing the length of this variable even if the received messages are sometimes shorter? (i.e. if some body let it 10000).

I have created a Client that can send and receive data via TCP sockets. The objects stored on the serverside are the *exact* same object used for the client. They use the same send and receive protocols.
Now, when i send a string from the server to the client , it does precisely what it should do. However when I send a string to the server.... I do receive the string as an equal length of NULL characters. I run the server and client locally.
Basicly what can influence the behaviour between two completely identical objects performing the exact same task? I wonder if there is some socketflag issue if the TCPlistener.accept function returns a completely different setup then the one I R used to.
(if it is of any interest, the send protocol is asynchronious)

the application I'm building is ALMOST done. The ONLY final feature I NEED to add is the ability to receive email. Now I'm using VB 2010. How would I go about doing this? Would I use 2 listboxes and a form with labels on it to display the message. I haven't any code yet. How in the world do I do this??

I wrote a Socket Client which will send the Socket Server some data and get some response from Server. This process will be running once in every 2 seconds.
Now what I need to know is How we can identify the connection lost between Server and Client?
I need this to be implemented in the Client side. If there is no connection then Client should automatically close the connection. Once the connection with the server is available in the next attempt it should connect automatically.

I doubt anyone has specific experience related to this particular task, but maybe you can spot my problem. I'm trying to make a call to lithium (forum software) to place a vote in their poll, and their docs show this:[code]I'm not able to successfully register a vote and they say it's because the poll.choice param is not appearing in the header, but if I step through debugging, I see it in the Header Keys/Items just fine.

I'm completely stomped with the payroll program I have created. The NetPay variable is stuck on 0 and I went through step mode to try and fix it. No luck so far. Additionally I'm trying to turn the whole numbers, that the users input into the form, into percentages(such as 10 into .10, 25 into .25 ect..). Tried 1/x and (x * 10^-2) [code]

so i have a class called FOOTBALL,then another 3 classes/forms that inherit FOOTBALL, they control score (SCOREBOX), possession (POSSBOX), and quarter (QUARTERBOX).the FOOTBALL class has 4 variables, "score" (array of 2 ints), "teams" (array of 2 strings), "possession" (boolean), and "quarter" (int)after that i have another form called MAINBOX, which creates new instances of the 3 classes (SCOREBOX, POSSBOX, and QUARTERBOX) (like this: private scoring = new SCOREBOX)... however they all technically create their own FOOTBALL classes, so I cannot connect them.

I'm writing this program in Visual Basic .NET to organize different fields of data, and I'm using profile slots through application settings to store the data for users. But, I ran into a stack overflow error in my SlotSelect.vb class. My best plausible guess for why this happens is that I'm using the wrong kind of variable container in the below sauce code, but my dilemma is that I don't know what specifically is going wrong.The code that the vshost is saying is the cause for the overflow was written from some code that I looked up on MSDN and other places for referring to objects in other classes, and I tried using other variants of it to see if it was any different. So far, nothing has worked, and it doesn't stop the error while compiling, much less in the code markup--it only catches it when it starts the application in debug after it finishes building

i am using Visual Studio 2008 and VB.NET 2008 and SQL Server 2005 as the database. I just finished designing & writing codes for a customer's contract information and , however after it has been connected to the database only one of the datetimepicker can be click, (i put 2 datetimepickers to find date interval) and the rest of the function including in the form are not working! it seems that the form stuck and NOT responding. i cant even close the form using the X button, so i have to stop the process using compiler (visual studio 2008), however if i press the 'Delete' button before the 'Add' button, it will successfully delete the data..

I've got one for you. I am working on a program that calculates the cost of a trip given a specific price of a Workshop say "Handling Stress for $595" the length of the workshop say "3 Days" and the city the workshop is in say "Austin for $95/day" now the issue i am having is that for example my NumDays variable (the variable for the number of days of the workshop) is not taking the value. Ive ran a Watch on the variable and it stays at 0. It also displays zero. i have assigned it an integer so it should be working if I assume correctly.

The problem is that the code is in a loop which i'm not sure how to stop.The need the text file to read all the file extensions.So i start looping through all the files in a folder.The other problem that happens is that i also need to loop through all the files in the folder so that i can compare the string line and the string X. So the final result is that my program is in one giant loop.

i'm a little stuck with a personal project, i'm interfacing a MiniBee usb output card to my pc and having a few code problems, i am trying to control outputs 1 to 8 which requires a decimal number that relates to the binary pattern of the ouputs if that makes sense i.e
1 = output 1 on
2 = output 2 on
3= output 1 and 2 on
etc etc
So, i figured the easiest way to individually control outputs was to use public boolean vars Out1 to Out8 so i can use those anywhere in the code and use a form timer to trigger the updating of the output
So the bit im stuck on is i've done a test using 8 checkboxes to set Out 1-8 as true/false
