For the program I am building, it will have a mini syntax highlighter. How do I color a line the contains -- from that point and onward?
Example:
This is the text --this is a comment

this is the text
--this is the comment
You probably got annoyed when you read the title, it must have been asked a million times. But unfortunatly I cant get it working for myself. Ive been using this code to highlight the word "var":

But it selects the word "var" and then afterwards, it makes thewhole RichTextBox have this font.
Using VB 2008r 2010 is there somehow I could make a syntax highlighter such as Notepad++?But maybe more simpler for only HTML, PHP and CSS? Or is there a plug-in or something you can download and add in your app?

but the color syntax of the richtextbox code is lost, looks like a textbox's text.. how do i replace the words and keep the synthax coloring?

I have used IsHighlighter property of InkCanvas to create highlighter tool In real life when we use highlighter it highlights on the top of our notebooks or books writing but in InkCanvas i am not able to highlight on the top of Ink which i have previously drawn I am creating application which have pen as well highlighter tool now if i have to highlight some thing which i have drawin onto InkCanvas using pen highliter goes down to Ink .

I just had this throw a compilation error while refactoring some legacy (hence VB.NET) unit tests, where I wanted to just comment out one of the sample inputs to MBUnit:

Is it actually treating the whitespace/commented-out line as an actual line? Generally, when I gripe about VB.NET, I preface it with, "Now, I wouldn't want to be the guy writing their grammar, but..." This seems like one of those cases where I don't know the answer, if I'm right.

Using above code to add all names from datatable to Textbox using Environment.NewLine. This is adding all names in Textbox. Now I want different color for alternate names. I used :

But above solution change the color of all names.

To explain more imagine you have various types of information. For example sake say a....

being parsed to the richtextbox. Now we have one sub to deal with all these three messages from the server but each needs it's own color.
Now currently i can only think about on each arrival of a new message loop the RTB length and match a a string.
Is there any way when we append to the RTB with the new string we can parse that new strings color also?

I get a "Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement" on the da.update line. The bulk of the code is copied from a working section of the program, I have just added the "newrow" stuff. I am pretty confident I have the names of all the fields correct.

Basically i want dynamic code that will change the color depending on the items in the box.
I want the background of my form to be the same color as the window frame color that the user selects, even if that changes. I selected System->WindowFrame as my background color, but it always remains a dark grey, regardless of what I have my window color set to. How else would I achieve what I want? I assumed I was doing it the correct way. Do I actually need code that gets the system window color and then apply it?
