I am working on my first project, which has a ListBox to organise my tasks.I added a ComboBox where I can choose between the subjects. In my case the 2 posibilities in the ComboBox are "School" and "Others".If I add a new item to the Listbox (done by a TextBox and a Button) I also choose between School and Others.If I choose School I want the background color of only that line to be Red.If I choose Others I want the background color of only that line to be Blue.
I am using .NET 1.1, so I don't have the access to listitem object. I would like to change the text color or the background color of certain items in a listbox. can it do it in .NET 1.1?
Alright inside of a combo box I have a list of colors and I want to change the background color of the combo box to the selected color...basically this... but im not sure what the problem is here anyone have some advice or is this not possible?
I want the background of my form to be the same color as the window frame color that the user selects, even if that changes. I selected System->WindowFrame as my background color, but it always remains a dark grey, regardless of what I have my window color set to. How else would I achieve what I want? I assumed I was doing it the correct way. Do I actually need code that gets the system window color and then apply it?
i have a listbox that contains the words "week1", "week2",all the way up to "week52" and when i select a week from the listbox it will retrieve a value from a mysql database that will represent a progress bar value. my progress bar has a range of 0-120 and i would like to have all the weeks that have values higher than 100 to be highlighted or marked somehow, in the listbox. so my question is, "is there a way to set the background color of certain weeks in the listbox to orange based on the value that they represent on the database?
for example for "week1", the value is 114, so when the listbox loads, i want the background color of the item "week1" in the list to be orange (indicating that it's current value is higher than 100)? i know that this requires me to implement a user defined drawing function for the listbox items but i dont know where i would even start. i would like this to be somewhat automatic so that it checks the values and changes the background colors of any value higher than 100, instead of me specifying a name of the item.
I have a textbox with a variable background color, changeable by the user. How can I set the foreground color to be visible at all times?I can use the inverted color (255 - Color.R) but this fails at the gray (128/128/128) color.
Is it possible to have the background see through yet the buttons etc full color?IE when I set the Opacity for 20% everything on the form is affected. Can I stop this or have do the same thing a different way where my buttons and still clear?

The problem is that I don't understand how to apply the "A Completely OwnerDraw TabControl" to my project, my knowledge isn't so far yet. Is there any way I can achieve the same results using something simplier? Or if not, could someone explain to me how to apply it without making any mistakes?
I have a DGV where I'm setting the backcolor of certain cells to light gray. But I need to be able to restore the backcolor to what it was before I changed it to gray. I could just set it to transparent, but the problem with that is that I use an alternating row color of alice blue for the DGV & setting a cell in a blue row to transparent makes it white. So, in summary, I need to be able to restore white rows to white & blue rows to blue. Any ideas? I thought about checking the backcolor of another column in the row & then using that to reset the cell, but that seems kind of a hack.
I have a question of VB event handler and color picker. Now I have a label, and I want when user click it, it pops up a color picker dialog and let user to change the background color of the label. Not sure how to implement this, can anyone give me a direction?

what I am trying to accomplish worked with the code in the last thread I posted a while back. I still am using this code, however, I changed the window size to work better and gave it a nicer background for the title screen of my project. Now what I am working on at the moment is making a settings form that has 2 labels. One for "Default" Layout and one for "Plain" layout. When default is at start, the default label is disabled,and when plain layout is clicked, the button is disabled and default button is enabled.Basically, this is a toggle switch for default or plain where if one is enabled, the option for it is disabled and the other is enabled.My problem is that when I switch from Plain back to default, the background Image will not switch back from the plain background color of "control"Here is my code:

I have a TextBox that displays a color as its background color and the background color code in its text. I have set the text color as Black.The problem is that if the user sets the color as Black then the color code will be unreadable. I am trying to read a line from a file and add it into a listbox. The SelectedIndexChanged event of the listbox places the selected item (hence, the item I added from the file) into a variable that is declared as a Store (my own personal class.) I can easily add the line from the file into the listbox, but I run into a problem with the SelectedIndexChanged event. When I click on the item in the listbox, I get an error that says "Unable to cast object of type 'System.String' to type 'WindowsApplication1.Store'." (I guess this is because I added an item to the listbox that is from a file.) I tried a variety of methods of casting, but nothing seems to work. What can I do to fix this?
I don't know what I did now, but I managed to somehow have form1's properties show background color as black, but it is a light silver color and no matter what color I assign it, it will not change. right now form1 is empty of textboxes, labels, etc. There is code in it for my menu and the other forms.
