I'm relatively new to visual basic and programming all together but I've managed to write a pretty useful program for my division. I am trying to add some more functionality however and that's why I'm here...because I am having trouble understanding how to make a windows dialog box pop up after the system time reaches a certain time.

It seems that thought the functions are available, there are many that are not as fully functioning as they should be, like PRINT dialogs and TIME/DATE dialogs, etc. Are some of these functions not fully developed in VB Express because they are only available to the licensed version?
View 4 RepliesI am trying to get my project to be able to save the data been input from a user. I have uploaded a screen shot of the dialog I am currently trying to use. You will see that I have got a combobox for member at the top. What I want is when the "new" button gets clicked then I can add the desired information then click "Ok buttton which will then save the information.
I want to be able to select members from the combobox after multiple have been recorded to be able to delete or edit them. I have got as far as "changing" the combobox to a textbox for input purposes. I have tried a few attempts to get it. I am getting "ConfigurationErrorsException was unhandled"
Once a user has selected a file with the open file dialog, how can I handle this action? For example, if the user has selected a .txt file and has opened it, how can it get the data from the file? How can it return the path that the user found the file in? Then, how can it save the file?I know that there is a OpenFileDialog.OpenFile() method, but I am also pretty sure this is not what I am looking for. I have also tried the ToObject method, but I probably messed up somehow.
View 3 RepliesI often use the process of displaying a dialog from a form, with the dialog user input then used to update the main form without any problem. In a new scenerio I launch the main application screen, I then show a login dialog ontop of the main app screen and can launch another dialog from the login if a new user is required. The plan is to update the login dialog (updating a combobox to reflect the addition of a new user) from the new user dialog.

The messagebox implies the dialog has been updated yet the text does not change. Is it possible to update the dialog when using a setup such as Form -> dialog -> dialog? I'm intrigued as why the dialog does not reflect changes. I have never refreshed/repainted the dialog as never required to in my other examples when updating a form from a dialog and never encountered a problem when using a two tier form setup.

Basically i'm trying making a task manager program for myself. I want to know how I can display a message box and or play a sound when system time = time displayed in listview. I have used a dropdown box for the user to select which option they would like to select - sound or message box to popup. The data for the task will be stored in a listview box. I create an app, with it when I click a button it opens a new form on a second monitor.
This works perfectly, but every first time the app start and I open the second form, on my primary screen (right side) I see the border of the second form. When I click the button again, the form is hidden, and when I click it again, it appears again but then the border is gone.

im working in a Statistics Company in my country working on the use of the internet. So as part of my project i thought i would make something like this ... I want to make a browser (which is something very but very simple and i have it ready) but i want this browser to be able to be viwed and controlled remotely by another person (my company) ... Of course people who will use it will be informed what they are doing ... It is in no way illegal while people are getting paid for this... My problem is that i dont know if it is even possible to be able to view and control my own browser remotely from my pc when it runs to another pc ... View 13 RepliesI have an issue with my DO While loop (it has to be a DO While loop). It is supposed to loop until a value of -99999 is entered for the value of previousReadiing. The program works, and it will stop after -99999 is entered, but only after it goes through the rest of the loop.How do I get this to end rather than have to finish through the other input statements and calculating again?This is homework so I don't want the answer, but can I get a nudge in the right direction please?
