rewriting a class I use for saving Treeview data to a XML file for use of saving ListView data I can't really figure out the rewrite, I'm stucked, unfortunately Listviews seems to be a big problem for me in general.

I am trying to populate a treeview with data from and xml document.
The loading of xml is no problem i have done that a million times over, the problem seems to be able to fill the treeview with content. My problem is this: I have a treeview with this in it:
-Race |-HQ |-TROOP |-ETC...
now... the program loads all units from xml. so when it encounters for instance a unit with a "<class>" tag containing HQ, how do i make it put it in the HQ node? I cant make it put new nodes into existing ones, only into new ones....
I've made a browser project and beyond making it a default browser, I am having a problem with the Favorites feature TreeView control saving, loading and repopulating it with the users data. It's tough finding the correct code as there are so many variations of this control in various languages, but I did find sample code for loading and populating the TreeView with a text file using tabs to signify the node structure in VB.Net. (Most others I have found are VB6 or some other variation.)
Im currently trying to build a treeview from data like:
a.b.c.d a.b.c.e a.b.c.e.f a.b.x
Which im trying to build into a tree like:
a b c d
[code]....
(So splitting at the .)However, im havign trouble getting the tree to work properly..Ive tried like creating a root node, then splitting each line of the input at the dot, but i just cant get it to work right.
This is somewhat of a multi part question, let me start off by explaining what I'm trying to do. I have an organized folder system with data files in them. Each folder has a set structure to their naming, and can contain sub folders and files. It will be a jagged directory system. I'm trying to import their structure into a TreeView. I have the workings of a recursive system that adds all files and folders into a ViewTree, however they aren't organized by parent/child.
So I get this... -C:Temp -C:TempData -C:Tempfile1.txt -C:Tempfile2.txt -C:TempDatafile3.txt -C:TempDatafile4.txt etc........
How would I go about parsing the directory paths, and include them into a parent/child relationship... looking like this +Temp --file1.txt --file2.txt -+Data ---file3.txt ---file4.txt Also I when the line item is selected, I need to know which file is selected so I can use it's full path to call up data (using an API) based upon the it's full root path.
I have an Active Directory browser written in vb.net 2008 that allows an end user to visually browse AD. Currently it displays the full DN for each child and what I want is to display just the name of the OU. Something tells me I would use the Tag() function but after playing with it, I just couldn't figure it out. All I removed was our internal domain name.
Would someone like to review what I have now and offer some ideas on what I would change to alter how the tree is viewed while retaining funuctionality?

By using Treeview control i want to show the data on the DataGridView2.This data is coming from DataGridview1 which is hide on the output. When i click on the selected node that perticular node is connect to suitable data on the datagridview1. Then that data or that Row is display on the Datagridview2.[code]...
I am busy with trying to convert data from an application so that it can be shown in HTML form via websites. I need to make a tree wherein I have 3 main categories each with their own sub-categories. These are the categories/sub-categories.
I'd like to use a TreeView control to display database data in a windows form with VB2008. All the information what I found is related to a website design, but I'm working on a database program (sql2005), where I'd like the user to see the structure what he/she make up with a TreeView like control. Just something like that when you explore your hard disk. How can I do that?
I am successful in populating data to a treeview from 3 tables (Constituents, epresentations, Letters) from a sql database. The below code works fine for that
Dim constda As New SqlDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM Constituents", conn) Dim repsda As New SqlDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM Representations", conn) Dim lettsda As New SqlDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM Letters", conn)
i have a treeviev and listbox.i want to display the selected contents of treeview into the listbox.my code is working for file but not for folder. means i want, if the all contents of folder ABC(i.e all files) are selected then in listbox i want to show the only path of folder not the seperate path of each file.
I would like to use a treeview control to display related data as Folders(Level0), Projects(Level1), Drawings(Level2). So far I don't have a problem reading data from a database, creating classes to hold the data and displaying the tree from the class data. I have created (3) contect menu strips, one for each level of the tree to perform various tasks. Each menu has an ADD option to either add a folder, add a project or add a drawing. My problem is as follows...After I add the node, in the correct location, I would like to have it set in the BeginEdit mode.
Dim oNode As New TreeNode oNode = TreeView1.SelectedNode.Nodes.Add(sNextID, "New Project") oNode.ImageIndex = 1 TreeView1.Refresh()
[code]....
After this code runs, the node.Text changes back to "New Project". As you can see, I added a few debug.print statements to try to see what is going on. It really blew my mind to see that the entire tree printed in the immediate window.I have already created a work around for this, but is isn't really the way I'd like to see the program run.
i have a treeview say TV1 and another Treeview Say TV2.. Now TV1 Contains all nodes for user rights. and i want to add to tv2 only selected nodes.Like TV1 is
Node 1
....Child of Node 1 (Level 2)
.........Child of Child of Node 1 (Level 3)
what i want is that when i select Level3 Node it should chek TV2 for the parent of this node. if parent exist it should add the node under the same parent. if parent does not exist it should check for Level 1 Node and if it exist it should add Level 2 Node and then Level 3 Node. Otherwise it should add Level 1 , Level 2 and then Level 3 Nodes in order.
I have a class, let's call MyClass. In this class, I have a TreeView property let's call myTreeView..In my code, I populate the Nodes of this TreeView so I can use it later on.Then, when it's time to actualy use it, I haven't been able to take all the nodes from myClass and put them in a Tree View Control on my form.[code]The weird thing is that when debugging, the TreeView in MyClass is well populated with the proper values and in the loop, newNode isn't empty, there's actually something but for some reason it's not showing anything.
I'm running out of walls to bang my head against. Okay new windows form with a textbox, button and TreeView Populate the TreeView.nodes with the default nodes via properties
[Code]...
I want to click button1 and have the name of the childnode? Node3? placed in the textbox. Not via selection, I can do that. But via index or item number. The code I have is as follows
The TreeView uses in its underlying implementation the TreeNodeCollection. The TreeNodeCollection in almost every overload of the add method asks for a key.It also implements indexOfKey and ContainsKey yet there appears to be no way to determine the key of a node from the node itself or from any of the events you would typically use such as TreeView_AfterSelect().
Am I correct or is there in fact someway to retrieve the key from a node or event which I have overlooked? And assuming I am correct. Why on earth was it implemented in such a way? The only thing I could think of was that perhaps TreeNodeCollection.Key is deprecated? But I see no mention of this...
PS: I am aware of the TreeNode.Tag property and how it can be used to the same effect.
I want to display data with level of detail, so i use a TreeView, but each detail is quite short, so i would like to use a WrapPanel (horizontal) to have many details per line.Something like :
This is an unexpanded item This is The Header of an expanded item Info 1 Info 2 Info 3 Info 4
