I'd like to use a TreeView control to display database data in a windows form with VB2008. All the information what I found is related to a website design, but I'm working on a database program (sql2005), where I'd like the user to see the structure what he/she make up with a TreeView like control. Just something like that when you explore your hard disk. How can I do that?
View 3 RepliesI would like to use a treeview control to display related data as Folders(Level0), Projects(Level1), Drawings(Level2). So far I don't have a problem reading data from a database, creating classes to hold the data and displaying the tree from the class data. I have created (3) contect menu strips, one for each level of the tree to perform various tasks. Each menu has an ADD option to either add a folder, add a project or add a drawing.My problem is as follows...After I add the node, in the correct location, I would like to have it set in the BeginEdit mode.

After this code runs, the node.Text changes back to "New Project". As you can see, I added a few debug.print statements to try to see what is going on. It really blew my mind to see that the entire tree printed in the immediate window.I have already created a work around for this, but is isn't really the way I'd like to see the program run.

I need to quickly demonstrate a project and decided to create a user control that is connected to an Access database through pure simple data connections (create the dataset and drag it on the control.)When I build the project and add the usercontrol to panel control on the main form, no data is shown in the datagrid.When I add the data components directly on the main form, the data is displayed properly. why I can't get my databound user control to display the data on my main form?

Part of my project requires me to capture data, for example, email address, from certain rows/columns of a datagridview(form2.vb) and displays them in a textbox on another windows form(form1.vb) with a click of a button(Add Contact button). The problem is the datagridview on my form must be able to display databases by making a connection to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 but so far, i have not been able to do that. I have seen many codes with regards to my problem but i do not know how to implement it.

View 4 RepliesI created Dataentry forms. In the form there are so many controls like DropDowns and textboxes. I am using Access database. Now I enterd the few records into the controls, and these records are saved into the Database. But now if i enter the any data which i recently saved in the database to the textbox or any other control then the remaining controls should be display the related data.
For example i have 4 controls in my form one is dropdown and 3 are textboxes. If i select the data in the dropdown then the remaining 3 textboxes shows the related data. How can i dispaly the corresponding data to the other controls?
I am attempting to show a specific form using a treeview control, the nodes of which have their tag value set to an instance of the Form I need to show. The code I have in the DoubleClick event works great for the first time I show a form, but after that I get an object disposed exception. As you can see, I tried handling it by resetting the tag, but that didn't work. Is there any way I can show the form more than once without going through a switch statement anytime the exception comes up and resetting the tag to the right type of form? I'd like something nicer looking like the way I show the form.

View 14 RepliesI have a basic Windows form with one Crystal Reports form veiwer control on it. When ran on the development machine it displays the report fine.After build and publish the application is now installed on a user PC. I am getting an error that the Crystal Decisions. Windows. Form version 12.0.2000.0 can not be found. All the Crystal dll's are in the install directory but none of them are being installed in the install machines GAC.Am I setting my publish output up wrong, may references wrong, or is the local GAC files the problem. The message is so criptic, it doesnt really point me in the right direction.

i am using MS access as my database and VB.net(2008) as my programming.my table has four columns.my table name is myRecordtbl and the columns are ,myid, myname, starttime and endtime.now i know how can i insert into table. but i got hard how to display times then i can choose to insert into my table.the time should be in the form of Hours:Minutes:Seconds AM or PM with up and down arrow.then when i select the time and hit ADD, it should insert into my table.
View 2 RepliesI'm using VB 2010, accessing a MS Access database. I have constructed a simple Windows Form returning data from the db, one field of which has a reference to an image I'm trying to display together with the data from each individual record.
I have a field with a product number, that matches the jpg file name (ie, the product number 5505 matches an image that I want to display, namely 5505.jpg). I've even created a new field in the db called 'Image', that contains the full name 5505.jpg.
So, I've connected to the db with an OleDbAdapter, and all the data fields are displayed via bound textboxes. I've been able to display a single 'set' image with a PictureBox, but I'm not sure how the make the connection between the returned data (txtSearchImage which is, say, '5505.jpg'), and getting the Windows Form to display this.
Am I on the right track using a PictureBox? I've tried binding this via the PictureBox properties to the relevant data field, but (obviously) it doesn't make the connection to the image file on my hard drive.

I have this all working, however, the stored procedure has a PRINT statement execute if a duplicate is found and stops. What I'd like to do is have this PRINT statement display on the Windows form MessageLabel (label) or have a "successful" message displayed if there is no SQL print statement.

its 3rd or 4th time that i am having this problem. the problem is that suppose i added a new control, any one textbox, button, combobox, checkbox etc etc. and when i run my project so it does not show that new control on form. or sometimes i add a control and it display on my form at run time but when i delete the control so it does appear still on form at run time. what is wrong with this?
View 5 RepliesI have a problem with scroll in a treeview in a Windows forms application (Framework version 3.5).
The strange thing about the problem is that on Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 2008 the scroll works as excepted, but in Windows Server 2003 SP2 the scrolling doesn't work. Enable/disable Visual Styles doesn't seem to make a difference on Server 2003.
Steps to reproduce the error:
1. Add a treeview to a form and add x nr of root items (and 1 sub item to each item).
2. Expand a number of nodes. The non-standard thing here is that we are changing the node integral height because we display a usercontrol with the treenode (See example of the code below).
3. When you scroll afterwards, you cannot scroll to the bottom node. The scrollbar is all the way down, but we are not seeing the last node.
