Console.Write From Windows Forms Application

Apr 4, 2007

I understand that I cannot use the System.Console to output information from a Windows Forms application because the standard input, output, and error streams are not run through the console in winforms apps. But I can't seem to find any documentation on where the standard input, output, and error streams are being directed to! Basically, I have a winforms app that accepts command line arguments and can be run in batch mode, however, I just want to direct some feedback to the user based on whatever method they're accessing the program. The app is used to redirect a client-server application from one server to another. In some instances, the user does it by hand (with a mouse), and other times they're doing it in batch mode (using SAS, command shell, VBScript, etc...). In those instances, I'd prefer NOT to use MessageBoxes because it will kill any processing they're doing.

Looping A Code In Windows Form Or Console Aplication

Jul 15, 2009

Well I'm working on a kind of GameGuard for my private server. Ok so, I want to loop a code, I dunno if I should use Console or Windows Form Application...I dont know how to explain but I'll try doing my best to make this understandable. Ok so I want to make something that will loop this code until the console itself is closed. This code below would simply kill the windows name "Cheat Engine" program if its opened.[code]But If I use a console application, How can I make this code loop every 5 second or so? What would I need to add in this simple code to make it loop every 5 seconds and until the console is closed?

Forms :: Automatically Resize A Windows Form To Fit A Smaller Display?

Is there a way to automatically resize a windows form to fit a smaller display? I created a program on a computer with a 12" display, everything works fine. However, when I load the same program on a computer with a 8" display, I am not able to view all the contents on the windows form. Is there a way to correct this without manually resizing all the contents on the form?

.net - Translate This Code Into An Expression Tree?

Feb 12, 2010

I have a hashing method whose operations depend on input to the function. Profiling the program has shown that too much time is spent evaluating this hash method. I want to try changing it into an expression tree, so the inner loop checks can be done once.

Here is a simplified version of the function (I undid some obvious optimizations for the example, and took out any input validation):

Private Function Checksum(ByVal inputValues As IEnumerable(Of UInt32),
ByVal declarations As IEnumerable(Of String),
ByVal statements As IEnumerable(Of String)) As UInt32
Dim variables = New Dictionary(Of Char, UInt32)

[code]....

I want to create a function which takes the declarations and statements and outputs a specialized expression tree representing a function which takes an IEnumerable of UInt32 and returns a UInt32.Follow-Up:I succeeded, and the speed-up was ridiculous (an order of magnitude). The main things I had to learn where:Use Expression.Lambda and Expression.Compile to get a delegate you can actually use.The Expression.Block factory method has a 'variables' parameter you (essentially) use to declare locals.Expression.lambda has 'parameters'.If you call Expression.Parameter twice, you're dealing with two different variables (even if their name is the same)! Store the result for later usage. Same for labels, etc.The result of a BlockExpression is the last expression in the block.

Line Of C# Code And Can't Translate It Correctly?

Nov 12, 2010

I have a line of C# code and can't translate it correctly. 'myString' is a string and 'a' and 'k' are both UInt:a += (uint)(myString[k + 0] + (myString[k + 1] << 8) + (myString[k + 2] << 16) + (myString[k + 3] << 24)); Translators for VB suggest the following but I get "Operator '<<' is not defined for types 'Char' and 'Integer': a += CUInt(myString(k + 0) + (myString(k + 1) << 8) + (myString(k + 2) << 16) + (myString(k + 3) << 24))

Export Query To Excel (can't Translate VB6 Code To .NET)

The XLSNombre is a variable with the name of the excel file that has been set before. The connection I have in .NET is to SQL server (but is the same). How can I use this code (or..how can I make this code work for .NET) or what is the equivalent of this for .NET? I found some solutions but with inserts of single rows or I have to set the title of the columns, I dont find any "simple" solution to do an "insert into" (like the code I use in VB6).

Forms :: Code To Halt Windows Shut Down Or Log Off?

Sep 16, 2009

I work in IT in a firm that are rolling out a time management application on all PCs. In order to clock in/out a user must log into the application and click clock in/out. I want to build a very simple application that when a user goes to shut down or log out of their PC, a windows form will pop up asking them if they they want to clock out of the time management software (a reminder if they have forgotten to clock out and are heading home). On the form there will be two buttons, 'yes' and 'no'. If they click yes, the system shutdown or log off will be halted and the time management software application will open automatically. If they click no, the shutdown/logoff will proceed as normal. I just need to know what i need to do to get the system shutdown/logoff to stop until either button is pressed and to stop totally if the 'yes' button is pressed. I am able to get the Time Management software to run on a button click but just not able to halt the shutdown or logoff?

Windows Forms Application Login Code?

Private Sub OK_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, _
ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles OK.Click
Dim con As New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;data source=C:UsersChristopherDesktopCanalside Theatre.accdb")

[code]....

As a part of a booking system I need to produce for my module, I have to create a login form that connects to a Microsoft Access Database. So far, I've created one that works without error, but it lacks certain functionality I can't wrap my head around.

I have a 'Login table' in my database with three fields: 'Username', 'Password' and 'Manager?', the last of which uses a 'Yes/No' datatype. Currently, the system can check whether or not the details are held in the database, and if so, it will direct the user to a different form. However, is it possible to have it so that the system can check what the database record has for the 'Manager?' field, and to direct the user to a different form accordingly?
