I'm looking for an example of a service application with an user interface.
I've currently a project with a service. Now I want to display some values from that service into a windows form.
We have a VB windows service running on LocalSystem Account. This windows service uses Kodak Imaging Components for converting PNG to TIFF files . Service is throwing "Out of Memory Error" for the code ImgEdit.Display . I just converted this service to a normal console vb program .This program runs fine without any error .

Have created a windows service, installed it and everything is working fine... Now I want to design another windows form that I would call from the service while running it I know that with the help of ServiceController class we could interact with windows service from a windows application but am not sure of the other way round implementation....
i have a Windows service that is hosting a WCF service through net.tcp and this is working great. I have also created a WCF service application. I am trying to add the net.tcp service reference to the service application. Then I add it to the GAC that goes ok but if I try to RegAsm the WCF service application to allow it to be called from Server.CreateObject I get the error:

I am working on a Windows service application and have followed few tutorials online and am able to install/uninstall start/stop service fine. I need to show a windows form to the user when service starts and am not sure how to show a form at OnStart() event.The form1.vb is added to the main project. ServiceProcessInstaller1 account is set to localSystem and nothing else is changed. [code]

In this pdf file, I have some fields which get their values from some texboxes in another form. My aim is, when the user triggers the button to call this form, it should insert the values inside the pdf file and display the output pdf inside the form.I have written the code to an extend but could not finish it myself after my many trials... Now here are the two things I cannot manage:I can use a directory to read the template pdf "untitled1.pdf". But my aim is to use the file inside my resources. can save the output file in a directory but this is not I want to do. I want to display the output pdf.
View 1 RepliesI have a solution with two applications in it. One is a windows form application that I want to use to set and manage a windows SERVICE application app settings.
For example. The form has the database connection string on it, when updated. The windows service application settings are updated.. I can get it to work for the windows application, but I need to jump boundries to the other application( Windows Service) and update the app settings there.
one of the apps that I wrote a couple months ago is getting to be rolled out to my production floor; one issue tho - It works great as a standard executable (you double-click, it starts and waits for data), however, I cannot get it to start as a system service.
I've already done a little bit of research for how to create a system service, but most of the information that I've come across is point to VC# or Visual Studio 2010 - I'm not finding much for VB 2010. Additionally, I'm only using VB 2010 Express and I'm pretty sure that I don't have the Windows Service application template's on my PC.
My application does have a "UI", but there isn't any user interaction; it starts and just sits minimized in the system tray polling a directory for the existence of a file - i.e. the windows form is not required.
I had created a windows forms application in vb.net. It contained several windows. Now the users of that application are telling me to display all in one main form. They want to see all the details in one form. I had implemented MDI but they want something like tabs. On different tabs different forms should be displayed. How shall I implement this.

I have a dynamic array that holds my results. I want this result to display on a form as an equation.The results from my array are numerical numbers and I want them to be multiplied to column headers of my datagridview.Column header for my datagridview are X1, X2, X3, X1^2, X2^2, X3^2, X1X2,X1X3,X2X3.My array is of the size 9.The values in my array could be , 23, -7.19, -26, -78, 32.5, .89, 21, -2.3, 4.5, 6.7..I am just making my results display on a msgbox one by one but I cannot get all of them once.

When you create a Windows Service, you create a list of the services you want to start. The default is this:
ServicesToRun = New System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase() {New Service}
Can you have multiple instances of the same Service class (that bind to different addresses or ports), like this?
ServicesToRun = New System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase() {New Service("Option1"), New Service("Option2")}
Or will that cause problems? Should we use two different classes instead?
We have a server with multiple services written in .Net 1.1 and 3.5 running on a Win 2003 server. Everything runs fine, but when we stop a certain service, an unrelated service stops. I have checked and neither has any dependencies. The service we stop is in 3.5, and the unrelated service that incorrectly stops is in 1.1. We get no error messages, nor event log errors, so we are baffled.Does anyone have an idea as to what may be causing this?

I want to take the values from textboxes on a windows form and then update the values in the sql server database...I want to update only those fields for which a value has been entered by the user and leave the database fields as it is (no change or updation) for which the textboxes are left empty by the user.....I opted for sql command and then i couldn't find out How can I generate the query dynamically for such a situation??? Like I intialize the string by str= " Update Bookings set " and then how i can alter it by considering the textbox values that have been changed....I couldn't find the way...I need shortest and optimized code for this situation....

i am using MS access as my database and VB.net(2008) as my programming.my table has four columns.my table name is myRecordtbl and the columns are ,myid, myname, starttime and endtime.now i know how can i insert into table. but i got hard how to display times then i can choose to insert into my table.the time should be in the form of Hours:Minutes:Seconds AM or PM with up and down arrow.then when i select the time and hit ADD, it should insert into my table.
View 2 RepliesI'm using VB 2010, accessing a MS Access database. I have constructed a simple Windows Form returning data from the db, one field of which has a reference to an image I'm trying to display together with the data from each individual record.
I have a field with a product number, that matches the jpg file name (ie, the product number 5505 matches an image that I want to display, namely 5505.jpg). I've even created a new field in the db called 'Image', that contains the full name 5505.jpg.
So, I've connected to the db with an OleDbAdapter, and all the data fields are displayed via bound textboxes. I've been able to display a single 'set' image with a PictureBox, but I'm not sure how the make the connection between the returned data (txtSearchImage which is, say, '5505.jpg'), and getting the Windows Form to display this.
Am I on the right track using a PictureBox? I've tried binding this via the PictureBox properties to the relevant data field, but (obviously) it doesn't make the connection to the image file on my hard drive.

I haven't yet coded for the update option...Here is my insertion code and i wanted to implement the update feature the same way just couldn't figure out how i can generate the query dynamically....It's a Booking System application

Just like an array in a group box or a frame as i used in vb6.
If there are 5 customers details then when i load the form it will add (PictureBox, Label and a listbox) for each customer dynamically and display them with their information. Moreover, if i add 6th Customer information in the database then next time i load the form it should display his/her information as well. I did this in VB6 sometimes back but need a start to do in .net

I need to display 3 columns and a varying amount of rows (typically around 50) in a windows form, kinda like excel. The data will likely be longer than the window, so a scroll bar will have to come into play somewhere.
