Update By Taking Values From Textboxes On Windows Form?

I want to take the values from textboxes on a windows form and then update the values in the sql server database...I want to update only those fields for which a value has been entered by the user and leave the database fields as it is (no change or updation) for which the textboxes are left empty by the user.....I opted for sql command and then i couldn't find out How can I generate the query dynamically for such a situation??? Like I intialize the string by str= " Update Bookings set " and then how i can alter it by considering the textbox values that have been changed....I couldn't find the way...I need shortest and optimized code for this situation....

I haven't yet coded for the update option...Here is my insertion code and i wanted to implement the update feature the same way just couldn't figure out how i can generate the query dynamically....It's a Booking System application
I am making a booking system. I am using same form for insertion and updation. How can I update by taking the values from the textboxes. For example if the user enters value for just 2 out of 8 fields then How can i update just 2 fields without affecting the rest of the record. I mean to say that if I use a single update query using all the fields then if some textbox is left empty then it will replace the database field value by null or something else.
I am trying to create a form that adds two text boxes together, I have achieved this however when running the program if you forget to enter numbers in both boxes the program crashes! I don't want to display an error message I just want the program to ignore empty boxes.
We have two update panels on our webpage. Now first update panel is having button cancel. While second update panel is having a file upload control.Now if the user uploads a file that is going to upload in about 2 mins, and in between, say after 30 seconds the user clicks the cancel button, the upload taking place in update panel 2 should stop.
I have a large form that reuses several elements, so I decided to create a usercontrol with some common fields. The problem is when the form is filled out by a user and submitted, how do I reference those values so I can input them to my database???

So, above two Cmd lines are for normally inserted textboxes in my form, but what would the line look like to reference any usercontrol form fields?
I want to add textboxes in my form as per the input I give. Say, My code will prompt me to enter the no of files I would like to upload... If I give input as "3".... it should generate 3 textboxes to enter the file names....
I think I fried my brain. Something so easy and I can't figure it out. I have a windows form with a datagrid and a dataset and some textboxes.I have a button that populates the textboxes with the selected row from the datadrid. However, the issue is that TOtalAMount is getting updated automatically but FinalPrice is not getting updated. Any reasons/mistakes I have done. I have tried it a lot in few ways but could not get that working. What i did not understand is that Total amount is getting updated but Final price isn't.
I have looked all over the web for a way to set up a VB 2008 combobox but what I have seen makes me shudder! I want to , as In Access VBA, set the recordsource/datasource for the combobox i.e. the list shown in the combobox, to the values of another table (currency) and then when the user selects one of these values to store it in the (already) bound field of the combobox (to another table). In Access of course there was a wizard for this sort of thing, but in VB 2008 looks like it is just lots of code.

I'm modifying an existing form in Visual Basic 2010 Express and attempting to work out some small kinks I've noticed. The one that I'm having an issue with is getting the form to completely fill the screen without the border going off screen. When I set the form's Size values at W:1024,H:768 the page always opens a little off. I tried setting the size a little smaller, W:1020,H:764, and it still does not perfectly fill the screen. Does the Size value include the border pixels or are the border pixels added to the form's Size value? Is there another value somewhere that could be affecting this?
During the first form_load a thread is created from a function of second class(hb) which constantly works and changes the status of parameters i.e enabling or disabling some buttons on GUI of form1 But it is not happening.Problem is the [code]...
I have two, soon to be many spreadsheet files. There are cell references between the files which need to be updated. I would write this in a excel macro but these spreadsheets are design tables for Solidworks, a CAD system and it does not allow macro enabled workbooks. So what I would like to do is push a button and open all of the spreadsheets, accept the update workbook prompt then save and close the files.
I've seen a similar command developed by someone using the Soildworks API but updating design tables in solidworks takes ALOT of time to run compared to just opening and closing spreadsheets.I am using Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 along with Excel 2010 Beta 2 (I like to have the new things)

now the code seems work, because it gives me an alert message that says" SUccessfuly Updated" but when i see the table, nothing change, what is happening any solutions out there?

I have a windows form where I want the time to constantly be updated. Right now it will take the current time from when the program was started.
For example, if I started the program at 4:30:29 PM that is what it will show the whole time the program runs.I need it to constantly be updated as the seconds tick by. I have a form with a list that shows information from a database. I want the list the update in run time (or almost real time) every time something changes in the database. These are the three ways I can think of to accomplish this:Set up a timer on the client to check every few seconds: I know how to do this now, but it would involve making and closing a new connection to the database hundreds of times an hour, regardless of whether there was any change Build something sort of like a TCP/IP chat server, and every time a program updates the database it would also send a message to the TCP/IP server, which in turn would send a message to the client's form: I have no idea how to do this right now Create a web service that returns the date and time of when the last time the table was changed, and the client would compare that time to the last time the client updated: I could figure out how to build a web service, but I don't how to do this without making a connection to the database anyway The second option doesn't seem like it would be very reliable, and the first seems like it would consume more resources than necessary. i have changed some of the properties of the form & it's controls but while runtime same is taking effect !
i am changing the form's default location....... "" ....... "".. controls ( Datagridview controls) some column properties but nothing is taking in to effect, but in design time every thing is normal
NOTE:- no code is acting upon this controls IN FORM load or any other event, so i can't suspect that thing

I have a login form that consists of 2 text boxes: txtUser, txtPass. Now these are not bound to any data table & I don't what them to be bound. When a new user enters his user name & password, I want to add these on a data table that has two columns: User, Pass. Data table information: Data Source = Login.accdb, Data table = LoginTable, Connection = LoginCn. I use visual basic 2010. So how do I do this?
I need to take a snapshot of a form which is not necessarily visible on the screen. I need to save that into a Bitmap object. I cannot use Graphics.CopyFromScreen() because if there was anything obstructing the form, it will appear in the snapshot taken.
