We have two update panels on our webpage. Now first update panel is having button cancel. While second update panel is having a file upload control.Now if the user uploads a file that is going to upload in about 2 mins, and in between, say after 30 seconds the user clicks the cancel button, the upload taking place in update panel 2 should stop.

I have a problem when updating the source of an ASP ListBox in an AJAX update panel. When I set the source of the ListBox to a large dataset, I would assume it would take a small amount of time to render due to the number of items. However, when the DataSource is switched at run-time to a smaller set of items, it takes just as long to clear it. If you go from a small set of items to a small set of items this is lightning fast. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'm using the Visual Studio 2008 item template for an AJAX 1.0-Enabled ASP.NET 2.0 Web Application. I downloaded that from Microsoft.

I have an update panel that has a table in it with 4 images. Every few seconds a new image is shown. All this works but when the image changes the whole page is refreshed. I am using Visual Studio 2008 and VB.Net 3.5.I only want the images in the updatepanel to refresh. How can I do that?

View 4 Repliesurl...I've got a drop down inside an update panel, and I am trying to get it to allow the person using the page to add users to a list that is bound to a gridview. The list is a global variable, and on page_load I set that to the gridview's datasource and databind it. However, anytime I click the 'add a user' button, or the button to remove the user from the list. It appears like it is doing a full post back even though all these elements are inside the update Panel.[code]Now I thought the point of an update panel was to be able to update things inside of it without doing a full post_back and reloading the page. So if that's the case, why is it calling page_load everytime I click the buttons? I ran this code and debug and I see that even before any of the code associated with button press fires, page_load runs again.I tried putting the gvAssociatedUser.Datasource = associatedFaculty and the line below inside the Page.IsPostBack check, that prevented the page from working. I tried every combination of settings of the update panel for ChildrenAsTriggers and UpdateMode, and none of them worked.
I've tried won't get it to work.It wasn't causing a full postback so I was wrong as to the cause. I thought the page was doing a full post back thus resetting my associatedFaculty list global variable, but it isn't doing a full postback.The issue I am having is everytime I click btnAddUser it will add one element to the associatedFaculty list and thus bound to gvAssociatedusers. This works the first time, but the second time I click it, it overwrites the first element. So it appears like my associated Faculty list is getting reset each time I click the button?

I have a composite drop down calendar user control that consists of a textbox and and calendar image and a validation control. I expose a property called "TextBox" on the usercontrol which returns a reference to the textbox used within the control. This is the textbox that the user enters the date into.

In my code behind, I want to detect when a user has tabbed off of the textbox and, using an UpdatePanel, refresh an appropriate message depending on the date that was specified. [Code]
OK, When I move athe calendar usercontrol into the Update panel, I get this error: A control with ID 'txtDate' could not be found for the trigger in UpdatePanel 'upIntendedStay'. It's apparently having an issue finding the embedded control even though it's within the update panel, but it has no problem finding a plain textbox that is not embedded within a usercontrol!

For example if the user enters value for just 2 out of 8 fields then How can i update just 2 fields without affecting the rest of the record. I mean to say that if I use a single update query using all the fields then if some textbox is left empty then it will replace the database field value by null or something else.

This will cause the event to not occur. If i change the "<" from the string, all is well. why cant I have "<" in my strings? This is important because i wont allow me to put an xml string in the text box.

Is it possibel to use update panels and update progress controls in windows application or is that reserved for web apps only. I am looking at applying some progress controls (like a spinning wheeel etc) when loading a crystal report that take about 30+ seconds.

I have a label inside an update panel which I wouldl ike to use as a status bar.Basically the user clicks a button which executes a main fucntion that performs a series of tasks. I'd like to inform the user as to the state of the function as it progresses e.g.:

I've tried updating the updatepanel directly from the function but it only updates the panel at the end of function (stage 4) and shows "Done!" (which I understand is how it should work).I've been looking into timers and threads to try and update the panel separate to the main function?

View 2 RepliesI have some update panels on my page that do some asyncpostbacks to keep some dropdownlists correctly populated. My problem is that on my page i have an HTML input that is handling some file uploads. With the AJAX on the page with asyncpostbacks, and while i step through my code behind, the files arent being uploaded. Using a postbacktrigger (non-async) is not possible because of my layout.

When I put a breakpoint in at the declaration of service and then check the value of "files", the count is 0. I am expecting it to be 2 when i have one file uploaded.
