I have some update panels on my page that do some asyncpostbacks to keep some dropdownlists correctly populated. My problem is that on my page i have an HTML input that is handling some file uploads. With the AJAX on the page with asyncpostbacks, and while i step through my code behind, the files arent being uploaded. Using a postbacktrigger (non-async) is not possible because of my layout.
Here is my code:
<div id="divFileInputs" runat="server">
<input id="file1" name="fileInput" type="file" runat="server" size="50" style="width: 50em"
onfocus="AddFileInput()" class="textbox" /></div>
[code]....
When I put a breakpoint in at the declaration of service and then check the value of "files", the count is 0. I am expecting it to be 2 when i have one file uploaded.

We have two update panels on our webpage. Now first update panel is having button cancel. While second update panel is having a file upload control.Now if the user uploads a file that is going to upload in about 2 mins, and in between, say after 30 seconds the user clicks the cancel button, the upload taking place in update panel 2 should stop.

I have a grideview that displays rows that will be deleted across servers by the click of a delete button in the footer of the grid. This delete will take a long time so i want an updateprogress bar. I'm not really familiar with it so I don't know where to begin.

I currently have a simple crystal reports application which generates a crystal report and in the built in viewer provided by VS2005. There is a drop down where you can select options to change the criteria of the report. I wish to convert this app to a windows executable which will take all those select options and generates pdfs based on the crystal report. the executable will be triggered by windows task scheduler...or maybe command line app?
Obviously this will be somewhat of a re-write. What would be the best way to start this as? a crystal report application or a windows application.

I am trying to create a update application for Windows CE.
It will go out on the net to my site and see if there is any new updates but I am having a problem doing that.
Firstly it is working fine if I create it using a 'Windows Application' but as soon as I Copy + Paste the code to my 'Windows CE' app (smart device, windows CE) it comes up with an error.
I am using .net framework 2.0.0 and vb.net 2008
Here is the code which I am using:
Code:
Function DownloadFile(ByVal sURL As String, ByVal pProgress As ProgressBar, ByVal Filename As String, ByVal Prefix As String, ByVal Rename As Boolean) As Boolean
Dim wRemote As System.Net.HttpWebRequest
[Code].....

I know there are many posts about updating an application with UAC turned on. We have a huge application and our own update program for updating that. We don't want to use the UserAppData area to install our exes. We do mostly custom programming so updates are a part of like for us. My question is: If we get our update program digitally signed can the standard user with UAC turned on accept those changes without administrator privileges and can that be done to a VB6 executable.

I was wondering if there is a way to update Windows Vista via a Vb .Net application.
I wanted to use Vista's WUSA.EXE, but it seems that it is only able to do specific updates in a specific location, not all updates.
Info on WUSA.EXE: [URL]

I am trying to implement an update panel on my web page. when I add this, everything works fine:
<script runat="server">
Protected Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
Me.Label2.Text = Date.Now.ToString
[code]....
This will cause the event to not occur. If i change the "<" from the string, all is well. why cant I have "<" in my strings? This is important because i wont allow me to put an xml string in the text box.

I have a problem when updating the source of an ASP ListBox in an AJAX update panel. When I set the source of the ListBox to a large dataset, I would assume it would take a small amount of time to render due to the number of items. However, when the DataSource is switched at run-time to a smaller set of items, it takes just as long to clear it. If you go from a small set of items to a small set of items this is lightning fast. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'm using the Visual Studio 2008 item template for an AJAX 1.0-Enabled ASP.NET 2.0 Web Application. I downloaded that from Microsoft.
Here is my code (Full source zip below):
Default.aspx
<%@ Page Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.vb" Inherits="TestingAJAXComboLoadTimes._Default" %>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

I'm trying to make custom ListBox with some graphics. Base is ItemCollection - each item contains Panel, 2x label and 2x picturebox. What each panel have to do:
- Change backcolor on MouseEnter and set color back when MouseLeave occurs.
- On MouseDown(LMB) - Panel stays "selected" - different color.
Problem: I can't access multiple panels at a time(and I need to), just one via sender as in function. Of course, I can do it hacky way, but I want to do it effective and regular. Is ItemCollection the right solution or should I do it just like an array of panels? Also I want them in one "box", ItemCollection is good for it.
Second "problem": I need to make labels "merged" in panels, when i MouseEnter them(labels), background color on that panel sets to my default color. when i MouseClick them(labels), nothing happens (need to "select" parent panel). It can be again fixed with hacky way, just disable labels - but then the colors of labels are unchangeable.

I have a label inside an update panel which I wouldl ike to use as a status bar.Basically the user clicks a button which executes a main fucntion that performs a series of tasks. I'd like to inform the user as to the state of the function as it progresses e.g.:
Stage 1: Retrieving data...
Stage 2: Calculating values...
Stage 3: Printing values...
Stage 4: Done!
I've tried updating the updatepanel directly from the function but it only updates the panel at the end of function (stage 4) and shows "Done!" (which I understand is how it should work).I've been looking into timers and threads to try and update the panel separate to the main function?

I have come across to develop an application for Windows 7.My program has one setting file and one LogFiles folder under the same folder as EXE. User will change some setting from Program and the values will update in this file. If there is an error, error detail will log in Logfiles/ todaydate.txt file.(Later I discovered/learnt that I should not edit/write the files to Program Files/sub folders.)So, now I'm trying to move these two files to another location. After searching a few on Net and I got the following result.[code]When I make Setup project for my application, I have to put the Setting file under one of these location.And what I found was, I only has a choice of "User's Application Data Folder" which is equivalent to My.Computer.FileSystem.SpecialDirectories.CurrentUserApplicationData.If i put Setting.ini file under this folder in Setup project, it gave me an warning of "File 'Setting.ini' should not be installed into a User's Profile folder because it may not be available to all users."

I want to provide a "Window" menu functionality to the existing application. Whenever any form is opened, the menu should add the open-form and when it is closed, it must be removed from the Window menu. We're starting to evaluate VS 2010, but right now I'm trying to do a simple Windows application in Visual Studio 2005 on an XP box.
Eventually, this will become a web service, but I want to test the XSLT file I am using in a simple application first.
Here is the XSLT file:
CODE:
The file is added to my project, XMLTest.
The code that generates and parses the file to change to a text file is as follows:
CODE:
A sample output XML file is as follows:
CODE:
When I run the VB code to input and transform the XML output I get a filenotfoundexception error that I can not figure out, because where it is expecting the XSLT file doesn't seem to make any sense.
If it were going to always be hosted on my machine, I'd use an absolute path, but it's not going to be, and I'm going to be switching to a Windows 7 x64 box after lunch anyway.

I am having trouble running a VB.NET 2.0 Serial Port application in Windows 7. I developed it in Windows XP, it ran fine in Windows 2000 and now when the company upgraded the machines to Windows 7, the application does not kick off. All platforms were/are 32-bit. I did some research online, but have not found anything relevant to resolve my issue. Does anyone know what the issue might be and the possible solution to it?
